The soft poly in my Gravity pro is HEAD Lynx Touch @48lbs. In my 2 Prestige S IG I, I recently discovered Technifiber Triax @48lbs. Plays like a soft poly but something special about it.
I just switched recently to the yonex ptp as I got shoulder injury. I used to play with confidential. Ptp is much softer and slightly more power but still good control.
Put NXT comfort 17 in my ProStaff 97 v13 @ 48 (as per coach Rob’s string specs) and gotta say pretty much a love thing. Had TW put Technifibre Triax @ 52 in it when I bought it, and it felt like a board. Initially I thought maybe the racquet was too stiff. I even tried adding weight just to find the sweet spot. This did help and as the tension started dropping I started removing the lead. But after “upgrading” to NXT, this soft multi felt perfect right off the stringer, no break in, no added weight. I am loving this racquet now. I love the spin I get (so many more balls dropping in), love the way it volleys and half volleys. Love my slice backhand, and my drive backhand. I just feels like a proper racquet now. Said to my hitting partner that I felt like the frame is really only 35-40% of the “feels”… the strings are 60-65%. So fun now!
I have an old 2012 Babalot pure drive plus. I like it. Can you recommend an ideal racket to upgrade to that would be newer and provide a similar or better game for me? Thanks
Underrated German string, Polystar, a soft poly string is amazing!
I'm not helping ;-) I like Grapplesnake Tour Sniper, Confidential, VS Touch Black in both full bed and as a hybrid with Wasabi X, and 4G. Restring Zero is up next for me to try. Have not tried any multis yet, but am pretty interested in at least knowing what they feel like. Thanks Harry!
Natural gut mains (65), RPM blast crosses (58).
I love my VS Touch 16 with TourBite 17. I tried VS Touch with Kirschbaum SuperSmash Orange 1.23, VS Touch with Yonex PolyTourFire and Polytour Pro, Tecnifiber Razor Code (all 1.25), as well the polys on their own. From all the polys, Kirschbaum is the best for me. Really liked TF Razor code, but the crisp feeling I love, is gone in about 45 min to an hour. It played well for another few hours, but the crisp feeling was gone. Kirschbaum feels all the time the same, until it broke. Yonex PTF and PTP are really good strings, but liked TF RC better. At the end, Kirschbaum takes the top spot, as it is half the price compared to TF RC and Yonex PTF and PTP.
Hyper-G 18g for full bed poly. Vanquish / Tour Bite for Hybrid.
I Use a hybrid of Wilson NXT with ALU Power Rough
🎾🎾You can restring rackets. But you can't restring elbows and shoulders. It's also cheaper to restring than to rehab or surgery.
Signum pro firestorm 1.25
I play with a prince triple threat hornet 70-75lbs synthetic gut 16g. I know I need an up grade.
If strings and stringing was free, I'd go with ALU as it's great on spin and feel. But Hyper-G lasts twice as long, costs half as much, has great spin and easy on the arm. The only downside is that it lacks feel. But I will trade feel for tension maintenance, durability, cost and arm health. The color is cool too. I used 16l for ALU. I always ask for 16l for Hyper-G but my stringer always puts in 16. I suspect that he doesn't carry 16l.

Try hyper g main with confidential cross. Predictable pop

@@ROSEMARY-gl7wx I've never done a hybrid before and I've been playing since the 1970s. I don't have a problem with power though I've found my limit on string tension at 54 pounds. 54 pounds seems perfect to maintain control for about 16 hours of play. I do like to keep things simple for my stringer.
Extreme Tour Nite with Head Hawk 1.25 23/22kg for me nothing better
I string for a few people and funny enough I carry Technifibre X-One Biphase 16 G and Nrg 2 17 G, Yonex Poly Tour Pro 1.25 mm and Solinco Hyper G 1.25 mm. The other strings that are popular for me are Ytex Quadro Twist 1.26mm and Top Spin Cyber Blue in 1.20mm and 1.25mm.
I’ve been playing with “ALU Power Spin”. This is the most incredible string! Slightly stiff but play amazing! Everyone I’ve played with had commented on how heavy my shots feel when they try to return it. Maybe you could review it someday? 😊

Ive been using the Alu Rough and people told me the Rough and Spin are great option for heavier balls.. have you tried the rough?

I haven’t tried the rough yet. I was going to but I fell far in love with the result I’m getting with the spin. I just did restring my racket so maybe on my next one I’ll try the rough.
ALU Power Rough
For years, my customers demanded Hyper G, but lately, many are seeking a string that doesn't flop after a few matches. The new king of the mountain for this is Confidential. Just make sure you don't string it too tight and for folks with elbow issues, go with 18 gauge and no tighter than 50. If someone knows of a longer lasting poly, would you please respond to my post with the name?

Me too!
That said, polys are the best friend to string manufacturers in that they go dead very quickly. People can go through a lot more string with poly if they want maintain performance. More sales volume up for grabs.

what are you talking about? poly's have durability and last longer. Why do you think people switch to them? and no, poly don't go "dead" after 2 hrs
Tecnifibre Razor Soft is pretty good now. Could you review it sometime? I want to see Coach Gu's insights towards this string.
Luxilon Alu is so overrated and prices have almost doubled compared to a few years ago. Far too expensive for the quality. String does not last long and tension also decreases quickly. Solincos makes way better strings, especially the Confidential and Tour Bite Soft. If you want a string as good as the Babolat RPM, but much cheaper...MSV Focus Hex Ultra.
Good comments...but👎your coffeeshop 🤦
Poly is overrated. Its spin potential has been amplified by marketing. It’s the swing path and racket face angle determined the rpm.

While strings do not have too much influence on the ball, the different shapes of strings can grip the ball differently, and many strings also vary in feel and comfort

The snapback effect of the mains plays a big role in spin potential. Poly strings do often (not always) excel as a result.

Exactly. That's why most pros switched overnight. If only they listened to you.

It definitely helps with control and spin, which is why most pro's switched to it.

@@tijgertjekonijnwordopgegeten like Andy said in the video, poly dampen the power so the ball has less energy. But it’s different from spin which brought the ball down.
Polytour REV is better than PRO.
