Bought a maverick xr50 for my 3 turkeys this year and it was off by +12* at reached probe temp of 160* so it actually 172~174* it was either defective or just that bad. I returned it after testing ice cold water the read temps were 35.6* and boiling water temperatures was off as well 209~210. I compared temps with two different quick temp probes from temp pro and Taylor that read within 0.5* of each other in the same water test 32.5~33 & 211.6~212*. I ordered this smoke x4 thermometer from thermoworks. I’m hoping it is within a reasonable plus minus 1~2* in accuracy in real world cooking versus the plus 12* over the read temp that the maverick performed at.
