Some background: Cristofer Johnsson (the bands leader/composer, the one with long hair in the white shirt) is an occultist, he used to be a part of Dragon Rouge, a Left-Hand Path initiatory organization and a Draconian Tradition Order. A majority of their lyrics and themes come from this and many are even written by the order's leader Thomas Karlsson (between the years 1996-2010)

Therion is the best opera metal band, one of my favorite bands, all their songs are part of the secret order of magic lead by Thomas Karlsson wich is been active for 30 years and keep growing all over the world. The wonderful way to musicalize the teachings of the order is just mind blowing. I personally love their work.

I'm allways impressed again and again, how good Metall works together with Classic Music.

And Christopher Johnson is a genius

One of my all-time favorite bands. Favorite tracks of mine : To Mega Therion, Invocation Of Naamah, Wine Of Aluqah, Raven Of Dispersion, Ginnungagap, Helheim, Kali Yuga Pt. 2, An Arrow From The Sun, Gothic Kabbalah, Land Of Canaan. Even that old French songs cover album is great. Johnsson is probably one of the best composers of this era. Pure genius.

Therion is the grandfather of Symphonic Metal.

As a big ole' gay myself I've had a bunch of people follow me calling me an abomination and start talking about sodom and gomorrah but now that I've heard the real tea on that I can try counter them with their own scripture. They probably would never listen but at least I understand it now. So thanks Vin 😬

I enjoy your videos, it feels like you're in my livingroom sitting next to me watching this videos. A journey that began around 1987 discovering bands like Aerosmith, GNR, Motley Crue, Metallica, Megadeth all the best American stuff. At the end of the 90s all my favorite bands were from countries I never knew existed and to these day all those bands from the Netherlands, Finland, Germany, etc. are my favorite. Everytime you make a review I relive my discoveries.

These guys in Therion are part of a conglomerate of Idea-Makers or Logos called Dragon Rouge!

I'm glad I saw Therion live in a small venue when Mats was the lead singer, I was in the front row and had only heard their latest double album, they blew me away. Afterwards, we went behind the venue and talked to the band, all were so nice. The venue was Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH

this may have been the same tour I saw them on I remember talking with a guy playing guitar back at their merch table during one of the opening acts. I thought it was one of the guitar techs. So once Therion was about to go on he was like "gotta go!" Turns out it was Kristian Niemann. Super nice guy. Also thought it was cool that he was out there watching the local opening bands. But this was during the Lemuria/Sirius B tour and I think (though I am not 100%) that it was their first time touring the USA. Which isn't suprising considering how large the touring band is.

Speaking of this song... one thing is clear.... none of that is a celebration whatsoever but just storytelling. Musically... you picked a song from the whole but all the songs have a connection with each other, taking them separately won't pay justice to Christofer Jan Johnsson's compositive mastery. We are talking about a composer with a solid classic background, and I believe his name will soon be taken in consideration as one of the greatest geniuses in Classical Music that Sweden has ever gave birth to. In my head, Therion Music must be considered Classical Music and i'm sure history will prove me right, no doubt! Therion is definitely serious stuff... to seriously look at it I have to redirect you to the author pf all Therion lyrics including this song: Thomas Karlsson, mastermind of Dragon Rouge, an international occult order and esoteric academia rooted in Sweden, founded in 1989. Just in the words taken from their short "About" section from Dragon Rouge official website: "Dragon Rouge emphasize the original classic Greek tradition of the academia as a school of both body and mind, the carnal and the spiritual life of Man. Dragon aim is to reach awareness of the hidden dimension of existence and help our members to fulfill their dreams and reach their optimal potential. Put that together with a content that makes people feel uncomfortable, for a reason or another, and here we go... becoming underrated becomes natural and surprises me not, at all. I just hope people like you who can appreciate what I say are still many more than those actually showing attention. I don't even need people agree with what I say. I only hope people is curious enough to dig deeper in things, especially in those which punch'em straight in their face.

Early 4 Feb 2020 (appr. 0640 hours, in military lingo) - My *562nd* Vin and Sori Reaction... You did *good* with this and _The Siren of the Woods_ (30 Nov 2018!). But... In 22 months, you've done only two *Therion* songs. And about ten ±1 *Nightwish* songs... *Therion* is an extremely important band when it comes to Symphonic/Operatic Metal - _way_ more so than Nightwish.. Founded by Christofer Johnsson in 1987, they started as a Death Metal band. Then, their *1995* 4-track Ep _"The Beauty in Black"_ *(recorded in 1994)* featured proper operatic vocals on two songs. By contrast, _"Angels Fall First"_ - the debut album of *Nightwish* - was *recorded and released in 1997.* By then, *Therion* had already released their first proper Symphonic/Operatic album _"Theli"_ *(recorded during winter 1995/1996 and released in the summer of 1996).* And in Spring 1998, *Therion* released the Symphonic/Operatic Metal milestone that is _"Vovin"_ *(recorded during winter 1997/1998)* - the very album _this_ song is from. What you reacted to here is from _"The Miskolc Experience"_ - a live video album *recorded at the 2007 Miskolc Opera Festival* and *released in 2009* as a DVD + double-CD package (Total: 1 h 35 min 44 s + DVD bonus materials). Damn, those are some of my favorites. Love everything from Bruce Dickinson's solo career especially The Chemical Wedding album as its my favorite album of all time next to Accident of Birth. Black Sabbath - Nightwing is 1 of my favorites. I get goose bumps every time i listen to it.

This isn't like Metallica's S&M where they rewrote the songs to work with the orhcestra. This is nearly note for note from the album. This performance is still special because they normally have to play a decent amount of the symphonic parts through the pa (like most symphonic metal bands do). It's crazy how many people they need to recreate the recording lol.

What I find interesting is Vin says that people think they know the bible, but really don't. Vin also thinks God is the good guy. As a guy that has read the bible, I can say with 100% confidence that Satan is a tragic fallen figure, God is an overbearing genocidal maniac, and Jesus is a martyr to a cause that nobody consented to that also happens to be predicated on false necessity. The real heroes in the bible are Habakkuk for telling God off, Amos for addressing inequality, and Nebuchadnezzar for just being a mostly good leader who managed to unite nations together (Babylon and Medes). Pretty much every other biblical character is a massive piece of shit, Jesus included.

im a believer of God, gay, and a huge metal fan and you’d be surprised at how much the story of sodom and Gomorrah is referenced to me to read because I’m gay. literally so annoying but it doesn’t waver my faith. To me faith is about my relationship with God not what other people have to say about me

Pretty much all Therion is orchestral. Since Vovin really. I think even going back to their early days they were still Symphonic Death Metal. This particular concert was recorded in Miskolc, Hungary and was recorded live with a full orchestra which is obviously not the norm. These guys are one of my favorite live concert experiences. And one of my prized possessions is a 4 Vinyl Gatefold edition of Lemuria/Sirius B signed by the band. Other must listens: Lemuria (Live Gothic), Ginnungagap (Live Gothic), Adulruna Rediviva, To Mega Therion (Live in Mexico), Abraxas and Via Nocturna.
