    The British have far more of a sense of dry, indeed very dry humour. In their eyes Theresa May was the comic of the year because what she was calmly trying to say was so far from what anyone else believed that she had to be pulling their leg/joking. Honestly the plan is a farce, it doesn't do what it was meant to, doesn't really solve a lot of big problems and may potentially be used by the EU to keep Britain tied into the customs union indefinitely, so yeah l can see why they were laughing. Given how many ministers have resigned from her cabinet, including the minister that was responsible for negotiation the original deal(and his deputy and the foreign minister) it's pretty clear she needs to be replaced so someone that actually voted for brexit can take over the negotiations (not that there is really enough time left).

    @@etherealhawk Incorrect. In fact massively incorrect. A no deal scenario under Brexit will cost you around 140 billion pounds extra each year in lost trade as well as incurred tariffs, according to an estimate by the IMF. So deduct the 40 billion that'd you'd """save""" from that and you're still down at least a 100 billion a year. So you'd be bleeding money every year, putting increased pressure to reach a deal, which will just favour the Union here.

    @@user-bl4oq7fd8d Watching the Brexit-crowd continually fail to realise they don't have a leverage to use here because the Union is so much more massive that it can basically just dictate the terms of trade is both hilarious and sad at the same time. It's like they think 'well maybe if we keep asking the same thing over and over again they will change their mind, in the meanwhile let's wreck our own economy'. You'd think the Brits of all people, having essentially been in the same position (economic strength-wise) as the Union is now in their past would realise this, but nope. They keep beating their head to a solid concrete wall expecting the wall to break down.

For the purpose of the reporting the news, the NBC decided to use famous people. • @SatanicBunny666

    @SatanicBunny666

    As a Finn this idea to me that it's all about May or whoever is leading the negotiations 'drafting a horrible plan' is just hilariously dumb. It completely ingores the fact that the EU has certain demands that it will not back down on (and indeed has no reasons to back down on) no matter who's on the other side. The EU has absolutely zero reasons to give the UK any preferential treatment over other non-EU trade partners like Switzerland and Norway. If you guys wish to maintain access to the single market and keep conducting your trade, that means the same rules apply as apply to those other countries. It doesn't matter if you have May or the ghost of Winston Churchill leading the negotiations, the UK has no leverage to play here. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Either get out entirely and face the economic meltdown and then negotiate trade deals later (which again, will make you subject to some amount of EU law unavoidably) or negotiate a deal now accepting the fact that some concessions have to be made if you want to keep trading with the Union. Norway has adopted about 2/3rds of EU trade regulations as per its deals with the Union. Switzerland has also adopted a lot. Both are also in the Schengen. These are your options. You will not and cannot magically change the Union's stance here, because the Union has absolutely zero reasons to start treating you guys as a special case because you're not. This is not an even playing field, and it won't become one. Get used to it.

    Parliament will not vote in favour of the proposal. That means it dies and it will see the UK exit from the EU on World Trade Organisation rules, just like the USA does when trading with the UK at present.

    Hahahaha you clearly do not live in Europe or well Britain. The EU is falling apart and Brexit opens opportunities for anything we want to involve ourselves in. The same statement was said in 2000 when everyone said Britain needs to join the Euro, thank God we didn't do that aye!

    @@oenrn I'm pretty sure most divorces are sorted out after 28 months. Brexit is basically back to square one right now, with only weeks left.
