I remember seeing a video of that, randomly, and thinking "Holy crap this guy is full of himself. It's a kid's game and he mains Jigglypuff." With context, it's an entirely different picture. It's a man who's spent a decade becoming the best he can be, and being mocked and ridiculed when he finally got to the top. It's a statement of disbelief, not of entitlement.

The melee community is the only community to not question the smell of a random guy with a crab in his hands.

Been on a Hungrybox history train through KZread for a few hours, and you know what boggles the mind ? How when faced with a story with people being hateful, unaccepting and destructive, where there's a pretty clear lesson to be extracted about tolerance and not being toxic, people feel compelled to go in the comments and mock awkward teenagers for their lack of hygiene/upvote that en masse. Because it's so funny, right ? I just don't get you guys sometimes.

Many considered HungryBox as the villain, but they never considered the tyrant that was right under their noses, Leffen. He became the villain he should be.

​@illv3 not going to be the most in-depth reply, but Leffen has been an extremely egotistical and rude person in several gaming communities (particularly melee) for years, which is shown to some extent in this video. That with a mix of being unsportsmanlike and not accepting losses (ex: after hbox beat him at Ludwigs tournament a year or so ago, he had a huge rant about how melee needs an air time limit? Weird ass take, and was specifically anti-jiggly), a lot of the gaming community hasn't really liked having him around at some point or another. It's super hard to say specifics because he goes off on rants, or does generally toxic stuff fairly often, but the rant mentioned above is the biggest recent one I can think of. That said, he's wicked good at fighting games, and has reconciled with some people after his worst era getting him banned from smash for a little while (talked about a little in the video). Though he's toned it down, many still find him insufferable. Hope that wasn't too much, and after I said I'd try to keep it short

@illv3 @cadhla2989 As far as I'm concerned, being rude and unsportsmanlike, while noteworthy, is not the most egregious of Leffen's crimes. The fact that he claimed a false victim testimony during 2020's Me Too movement is atrocious. The fact that he conspired against fellow content creators in an attempt to get them canceled during said movement for financial and political profit is diabolical. The fact that he used his influence to vilify competitors, some to the brink of suicide, is despicable. I don't like to refer to anyone as an "evil person," but Leffen has consistently done evil things to people in this community and, as far as I can tell, still feels no remorse for such actions. The fact that people still respect him is astonishing to me, and, frankly, is as strong of an indictment against the community as Leffen has against himself.

Armada was a huge force in the scene. He basically won everything easily. The thing was, no one even came close for a long time. Players like Hungrybox, Mang0, Leffen, or whoever would rarely have close matches. Armada just seemed like there was no chance to beat him. He was dumpstering really really good players like they just picked up the game. I would say he was absolutely the most dominate Melee player of all time. Even other players he mentions in this video would get smacked by him with no effort. Unfortunately, he just lost the love of competing.

I've avoided this video for years to not being interested in Melee, but after watching AsumSaus' video on aMSa I gave this a chance, and I'm glad I got to know about another awesome player who doesn't stick to the conventions and who also achieved his goals in such a stubborn and strong way.

It's a shame too, since turndownforwalt has editors and animators working for him unlike Asumsaus and this vid. With some better hooks / creative direction I feel like his channel could be doing serious numbers, but right now most of his videos are lucky to hit 50k. @@queuedjar4578 Have you seen that video? Aside from the baseline joke it STILL feels like an AI wrote it. All of his videos are the most sanitized surface level review content ever. Even his meme videos feel like he's reading a Wikipedia page. Even the people who like turndownforwalt don't watch his videos all the way through, his viewer retention just drops off instantly at the start, compare that to this video. The difference is night and day. Not even trying to dunk on the guy, he just needs to be better at his job. He needs to learn how to be entertaining, and direct his content to be shorter, edgier, and more watchable.

@@moo9557 Mango is definitely very cocky and arrogant but he's still a good guy. He was just especially so in 2013 during that AMA. He's humbled up a lot since then. Not who I would consider "nice" but he still means well. He meant well back then, too, but his arrogance overpowered everything else. He should have given Hbox more credit in that AMA and he learned his lesson from the backlash along with having a moderated conversation with Hbox soon after.

If you watch some of his recent streams, he's in touch with the community, and while he sometimes is arrogant, he seems a lot more set on becoming a better player, having good relationships with fellow pros, and just promoting melee as a whole. Part of this has to be fueled with his epic war with zain, as they are the top 2 players in the world rn and are just getting better.

What’s ironic is actually that jigglypuff shuts down more characters than fox, low tiers can hit fox pretty damn hard due to him being a fast faller. Puff shuts down peach, pikachu, ice climbers, virtually every character below game and watch. A good enough player can beat fox. To say puff adds variety is disingenuous, Axe didn’t win summit with pikachu because Puff was played over another fox, falco, marth, shiek. Axe only won cus he dodged Hbox in bracket

Luke Rose dude I get where you are coming from but saying that Axe “dodged” hbox is also not giving him enough credit. He won. While he had a good bracket to succeed in, it doesn’t diminish his win. You could say a player only won because they dodged for literally every player then. A victory is deserved no matter what type of bracket they have.

Michael Rubalcava I’m not saying Axe didn’t earn that tournament. He went off the entire time. His run was awesome, but had Hbox not gotten knocked down early he would’ve had a much lower chance of success. He’s taken like one tournament set against Hbox in his entire career

Luke Rose oh ok, I thought you were just saying that Axe’s win wasn’t as deserved because of hbox’a absence. I interpreted wrong, my b. I have just seen a lot of people say stuff about how so and so play wouldn’t have one because of another player, which I think is a terrible outlook. Sorry for that misunderstanding that I had.
