Elvis Andrus, Ian Kinsler, Adrian Beltre, Mike Napoli, Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz, Michael Young, Mitch Moreland, David Murphy, CJ Wilson, Derek Holland, Neftali Feliz, and probably more guys I’m forgetting. @RobertLPeeters Жыл бұрын

    Beltre’s career numbers are insane to begin with; 93 WAR, 3000+ hits, almost 500 home runs, etc. Then when you consider he had about 6-7 underwhelming seasons before he turned 30, and probably could have played a couple more solid seasons at the end of his career, it becomes even more remarkable. Very possibly the most underrated player of all time.

  • @Heathcoatman

    @Heathcoatman

    Ай бұрын

    Well....I mean he was never a power hitter, hitting 15, 20, 13, 21 and 23 homers in his first five full seasons. Then in his contract year he hit 48 and was suddenly barrel chested and hit more than double his career high in HR? If that isnt fishy to you, stick with the 'he underachieved" narrative.

    Something people ignored when criticizing Beltre's bat in Seattle was what a brutal park Safeco was for a right-handed hitter at the time. After the construction of Qwest Field next door, the wind patterns changed and it became almost impossible for a right-handed power hitter. Richie Sexson struggled in the same way at about the same time.

  • @calinator51

    @calinator51

    Жыл бұрын

    It should be ignored because that had nothing to do with his struggles. Watching most of the games, he struggled to ever make solid contact and pitchers fed him a heavy dose of sliders low and away which he couldn't lay off of. Sexson was very solid his first year in Seattle but just fell apart striking out a ton and not being able to make contact after that first year. What happens a lot with hitters going to the Mariners is the park messes with their psyche that it's a pitchers park. I think after Seattle he just became more confident and matured as a hitter.

Every game and every at bat I thought he was going to do something that was gonna lead us to a win. Even until now, I don't care that the Dodgers let alot of stars go and not resign them.
