@@Darth_Patatoe likely to increase airflow thru the car bc the driver was getting hot. Those cars don't have A/C, so they rely on airflow thru the car to cool down the driver. There's likely another small hole in the side window(s) and/or in the front windshield that let air in, and the hole in the back window allows the air to get sucked out of the car.

@@afcv10 Yes, it is the fastest way to do it. Everything is also done at the same time, all wheels synced. Accuracy, danger, timing... Mistakes has larger impacts on the race.
