Ойындар

Today, we look to settle down, find us a nice plot of land, and do some simple farming. No, really! We settle our first world, create our own faction, and start bringing in the colonists! There is a lot to learn about colonies, and we go over the basics of colony life, stats, and some of the threats to your colonies in 0.96a.

Those patrols that bother you about the transponder are like a dog that has caught a car and now doesn't know what to do with it. But no matter how outmatched, they shall never falter in their duty, even unto death!

Yeah, sometimes I just wanna look at them in their Brawler and Lasher eyes and go, "You do realize my fleet has about ten thousand times the ordnance that yours does, right??? Do you REALLY want to annoy the fleet that could, by accident, vaporize you so thoroughly the authorities would never know what happened to you?"

once you're deep in negative rep .. just accept them going for you even refuse to shut on transponder and then let them go, you can still dock and blackmarket trade at the planet they patrol if they're not actively pursue you (which they don't if you refused and then go out of their sensor range)

I still find it funny that pirate bases have a black market. Just seems a bit silly, illegal trade goods, taxes? Isn't that the whole reason you guys are pirates?

Lol yeah there are definitely some silly things like that! I rationalize it as rather than official tariffs, the taxes at pirate installations are more like the middleman's cut, bribes, and so on to get your goods to market.

Nah, we're a ways away from needing a nanoforge. I like to build my way up slowly through the basic industries first. Heavy industry and the upgrade to orbital works are usually the last ones for me, especially in 0.96, where growing your colonies quickly is a recipe for disaster.

I've been following the Starsector series here for~2 months and wonder if a part is ~50 minutes long (video length) how much time do you invest in a full episode (record, edit.....)

Thanks! Starsector is my "secondary" content on the channel at the moment, so it doesn't get as much time in the oven as Vintage Story. For these episodes, I spend probably about as much time editing as I do recording, so for every 10 minutes of recording, about 10 minutes of reviewing and editing.

This game is interesting, but I tried setting up a system with 3 planets. Put a colony on each to handle trade, mining, and manufacturing. They're currently the most defended worlds in the entire game and yet I lose -100,000 every month because the pirates NEVER stop raiding. There's not a single moment where there aren't a minimum of 12 individual end game pirate ARMADAS hovering around the planets. Trying to kill the bases doesn't mater because they instantaneously respawn somewhere else and send the same river of endgame fleets. Maxed out the defenses and it doesn't matter. Tried fighting the pirates, doesn't matter. 70 hour save file made worthless because of unwinnable raids. 10/10 worst game I've ever played.

Ahh, yeah, you're running into the same issue that GrumpyThumper did. Colonies got changed in 0.96 with the introduction of the Hostile Activity event, which means you have to carefully manage your colonies' growth, build up slowly, and maintain their stability as high as possible. If you want to tell the pirates to eff off forever, you can go to Kanta's Den and buy Kanta's protection. There's a random list of things she'll accept, but one of them is usually "a favor" which will hurt, but if you have no money, might be your best bet. The developer is aware of the struggles people are having with the new colony management & threats in 0.96, and I've heard tell that he may be looking to make it better in upcoming releases.

Alex didn't like heavy heavy AI core use so the hostile activity mechanic pinishes it badly. Put the AI cores in storage or sell them, no point using them aside from the occasional beta

@@Bronimin Nah, even that has a workaround: you can pay the Pathers a chunk of money every couple cycles, or do a fetch quest for them to get them to leave you 100% alone, forever. Pirates are the same. A cool million credits will make them go away permanently. Though that kind of makes the colony management a little too easy and boring if you do that, IMO. I'd enjoy a slower system that requires occasional nudging by the player.
