Man I just love watching these what if videos stoned. I mean I feel like he made a video about a what if that apparently wasn't even a possibility at all but I didn't know black holes had stuff orbiting it just like the sun. Can you freaking believe that. Like space is so unknown. And if you think about it, look how little we progressed before like a few hundred years ago. I just think people back then were lazy maybe? Or just not very smart. I mean I like to think maybe Jesus is real sometimes but then I think if that was true, we would have real hoverboards by now. Like I'm sorry, but they barely have good scooters. And driverless cars. That shit has been expected. But what if aliens came and gave us all this smart knowledge instead of Jesus. And what people really think is the Bible, is a story of a bunch of people following around an alien. Like abraham probably an alien told him you should show me what you're really willing to do for the continuance of your life and the rest of humanity. I mean what's more believable, that there's some other more advanced life forms or that there's an almighty being behind the creation of the whole universe like its a fucking puppet factory and studio all in one. What would it look like to him? Probably a big black ball right? Fucking dumb. Now I can get behind some aliens being like hey check out this cool thing that makes water into wine but the whole time they did it like a magic trick so they didn't know how just to make them feel more powerful. What if Mark Zuckerberg was an alien really trying to collect as much information on us to send back home. I wonder if that would be good or bad for us as a human race

If the suns core began to spin light speed causing inertia to reject light from escaping thus causing a collapse and in turn stopping light from escape while grabbing everything around it and also condensing most it’s matter then yeah. As far ad we can tell we cab move freely in any direction which would not be possible inside the event horizon. So our observations are incompatible with our us being inside based on our current understanding.

there is a region, for some black holes, which is beyond the event horizon but not falling into the singularity. this region scales with the mass of the black hole in a way that makes your scenario possible

yeah there is a theory about it actually, in a blackhole massive enough, spahgettification may not occur as violently and therefore it's safe

Jupiter is *not* a failed star. Calling Jupiter a failed star is like calling an rc car a failed Humvee. Brown dwarfs are failed stars and the *smallest* ones are 14 times the mass of Jupiter. Jupiter has nowhere near the amount mass required to start fusing.

@@jamx02 Well that's one opinion. The scientific community is divided on the subject with many considering all gas giants as 'failed stars' or 'stars in waiting'. While I'm not doubting the points you make, it would be an interesting 'what if' video either way IMHO, just like this one.

Never thought about this possibility. However, these videos keep opening up my mind to more possibilties.

One thing I’ve thought of about what we consider a habitable planet, is that it’s based solely off earth. We only have life on earth as an example, but there could be alien life that survives on completely different things.

The gravity would be essentially the same.Gravity works the same with black holes as it does with everything else,the planets will continue the orbit the black hole as normally,except without the sun we'll still all die.

The bigger question is: Would or should we even care? These are things no mortal being will ever "solve" in its life time. And looking at our species, before we get to the bottom of this or before this knowledge becomes relevant we'll have either died out or bombed ourselves back into the stone age repeatedly.

We aren't orbiting the SMBH in the middle of the milky way, only stars within 27 lightyears are gravitationally bound to it. I've said this before, but if you ever hear someone talking about how galaxies orbit around black holes, please personally slap them in the face for me because this is very false. Sgr A* (smbh) could disappear right now and it would make no difference in the milky way.

@@Diree Why shouldn't we care? It's searching for answers that we believed unanswerable that has brought us where we are. We will likely never have the answer to many questions, but we also could find it, or our children, or perhaps 100 generations down the line. If we never question it however, there is no chance of finding an answer. No reason to not question, search for an answer, but be prepared to not find the answer.

If Earth was in the Goldilocks zone of the accretion disc, would it still have day or night? Considering that we would be surrounded by high speed contents of the disc that is constantly producing friction, so heat and light. And if we don’t have day or night anymore, should we still have time zones?

Not as day and night as we know them in my opinion. Depending on the light emitted by the accretion zone material and if the planet was spinning on its own axis, one could have different lighting conditions, as in maybe the inner part of the accretion disk would be spinning faster and thus emitting more light than the outer part so if the planet was spinning, you're get more light when facing the brighter side obviously. So no, you wouldn't have days and nights as I understand it.

Awesome video completely mind blowing. Aaron must have an IQ of 200+. I was thinking the observable universe is expanding faster than the speed of light so it's impossible to see what is beyond that horizon. Could there be multiple universes occurring similar to ours beyond this horizon? Is impossible to imagine and see but it's awesome we could see as much as we can. Merry Christmas and god bless everyone. Maybe if possible in near future Aaron could look into and share his ideas on god and maybe cosmic destiny or destiny of humanity or something. Great video, funny as always but a planet would not become a brown dwarf if it's mass became too large. Unless the planet you were referring to was a gas giant comprised of hydrogen and helium. If the planet was solid like Earth, Venus, Mars etc - it would never become a brown dwarf due to a lack of essential light elements required for sustainable fusion, it would never achieve 'ignition.'

Considering the hypothesis that the planets as they a drawn into the black hole are literally torn apart atom by atom as they approach the event horizon, I very much doubt the possibility of them existing as anything that closely resembles what we know as a planet once on the other side of the event horizon... I'd love to know your thoughts on this everyone.

well being ripped apart by gravity doesn't necessarily happen at the event horizon. for a supermassive blackhole it happens quite a ways in beyond the event horizon. for stellar mass blackholes it happens even before you reach the event horizon.

true, but at some point we will come to a point where living around a black hole is the only way our species will be able to survive by harvesting the energy of the blackhole. Also there are safe distances where you could orbit quite nicely around blackholes without running too much into risks. My question is however, if all the blackholes die through hawking radiation or everything is turns into iron 56 and then also fades through hawking radiation, there will be NOTHING in the universe anymore. All matter would be gone, what is our species then gonna do by then? Except for quantum fluctuation there won't be anything. @@energeticstunts993 well, turns out we detect minute amounts of protons popping into existence "spontaneously" from virtual particles at a certain rate per cubic lightyear in intergalactic voids. given that proton decay has been shown not to follow the standard model -- I'd argue that with such a sweaty empty space the full heat death scenario is actually off the table as per iron 56 and hawking radiation great thought though. i can only speculate what fusion may be like near the singularity

Even if a planet (blanet) were able to find the right orbit around a black hole, with just the right size, just the right amount of energy, to keep water liquid, it would still have one major problem that you neglected to visit. Radiation. If you look at a black hole through a radio telescope, there are extreme amounts of radiation around the black hole. Since carbon based life forms that rely on DNA for not only life, but also for reproduction, it would be terminal, before it even got started. If life were to arise in such a place, it would have to be a completely different form of life.

Whatever time dialation and perception of time, earth orbit compared to the age of the universe has the same ratio I think.

I've flown through the sun in an astral projection and found it is a black hole seen from the inside. On the other side is a super Earth. Of course "imagination" lol
