It makes you wonder how much better the world could be without the stupidity of the Left!? I know we need examples of what not to be like, but isn't this taking it to the extremes.......!?

I understand you and I’ve been there. But remember you should congratulate yourself for being a damn good person to them. Don’t let your ego tell you “ you deserve better, that person better come back and make up for it” You should step outside yourself and think damn you were really cool, you were so giving. Wow they screwed up big time losing me”. And this isn’t just positive thinking, it’s the part you weren’t thinking

Wise point. The storyteller Jean Shepard used to say, Someone is never so angry as when angry with himself. And a lot of time, like with envy, you aren't quite sure of the source of the emotion, and it's more pleasant to externalize it, so there is a cognitive bias to resolve it a different way; something to be aware of.

Failure of complexity management is absolutely true. I quit a miserable day job in 2013. My husband retired in 2018. We downsized, sold a too-big house that sucked up every spare dime and every spare minute, and reduced our "stuff" by 90 percent. The past 3 years have been the happiest of our lives.

He really nails it at 2:00 for people who get overwhelmed by life or a big life changing event. His professional acknowledgement that some of life's big problems are extremely difficult to bear, even to the point of breaking a person, is very useful and empowering. Is reassuring to know you're not losing your marbles, you are are dealing with legitimate duress, sometimes of unknown duration. Despair, hopelessness, futility, etc are normal reactions; you are struggling to keep your head above water amidst chaos.

Well said. I think this is one reason why the decision to make use of anti-depressants is so vexed. At what point does a person opt to lean in to the bad feelings and learn from the pain? At what point is chemical intervention the answer? Not an easy dilemma to resolve.

@Jeffree Ensing I'm hoping that you find resolution of those regrets and peace as you move forward. I agree that killing oneself is a spiritual no no (with the possible exception of being in an end-of-life state already, with pain that is excruciating and cannot be relieved). It's also one of the most cruel things a human can do to the people around him/her. Even if one feels that others would be "better off" with him/her gone, that is not usually the way those others feel at all.

2:22 I believe we saw that with Brad Delp, the singer for Boston. He didn't want to go on tour at age 55, and he didn't want to back out and get sued by Tom Sholz; and although engaged, he might not have wanted to get married, nor to break his fiancee's heart. With no good options, he planned his own suicide carefully. That may have been how the ER doctor in NYC and the EMT felt during the covid crisis -- no matter what they did, to work or to quit, was unacceptable to them. We can only learn from them, to find some third way in such a dilemma.

I always start with a pessimistic approach to problems, because I want to be prepared for the worst, and it makes me better appreciate the good things when they happen. Things can only go up, if you start from the bottom. However, It can make you overthink situations in some cases. Which does help at all ... so that’s why I think being pessimistic is not that easy.

At 5:58 when he speaks about the dream of water flooding the room, it makes me think of Graham Hancock and his argument of a cataclysmic flood 12000 years. Perhaps the reason that the symbol of water as chaos has been passed down for the very reason that it was once the source of ultimate chaos and near extinction for the human species.

This was Dr. Peterson at his best. Out of the dark ether the Good Lord pushes the great seeker to inspire us, before he moves back fearlessly into the dark where he seeks, also fearlessly, humbling the dark forces that lurk, with his God given powers of thought. Very inspirational for me to carry on through my trials and tribulations that seem obligatory before i have a few moments of recharge.

I can very much relate to the whole "not being attentive to problems you should have been attentive to". At the start of this month, my bank account was frozen due to outstanding payments...And had I only communicated with the necessary parties, the whole ordeal could have been avoided. You truly NEED to take care of your affairs, lest they mount up and overwhelm you. Start small, start somewhere, and do a bit every day. That way, you may develop a routine and get used to taking better care of yourself and your business, whatever that may be.

(2:00)”…and many things can happen on the way to dying as well…complications [arising over existing complexities]…” A sobering realization for many after starting a family, and even before that, a wake up call that tells you it’s time to act as if your life depended on it. And it does. I have always had a dread of murky water. Of what might lie beneath it! How revealing.

The forks and seat stays of my bike have decals to remind of the realities of life, my mortality, and the need to live life today. The left fork has "Skating away..." and the right has "...on the thin ice of a new day." The seat stays have Pink Floyd: "Shorter of breath...and one day closer to death."
