Aside from Elizabeth Holmes- the commissary has so many essential products that aren’t luxuries but actual necessitates that inmates need to get by. If they don’t have the funds, and they don’t have anyone refilling their account from the outside, it can be incredibly hard to get every day products- things that are never totes such as menstrual care products and toothpaste, because what they give you is too small, and doesn’t work well. It’s kind of shocking that even the essentials don’t cut it.

What I don't understand is why she never fled the country after journalists started sounding the alarm. She must have known it was inevitable that the scam would be exposed and she'd be going to prison. Her millions in personal income could have made it possible for her to live at least a middle class life in some non-extradition country like Idaho.

They dont have NEAR the luxury or freedoms they once enjoyed. So this is hitting rock bottom for them. Its no picnic.
