I watched this move with my grandmother when I was a little kid. I was about 10 years old. I always remembered it, even into my adult life. I watched it again today. It was totally different watching it now as an adult and losing my husband when he was 27 (just 2 years ago). It's strange to know that this movie was foreshadowing what would be my own love story. So many scenes hit close to home. We met in medical school, we played in the snow/made snow angels and we also had a relationship full of banter and witty jokes, just to name a few. It's a hard pill to swallow but I feel that these kinds of love stories, are often too short and pass by like a shooting star. They are beautiful and fast. If you aren't careful, you can be disappointed because they are gone in a blink of an eye and you can miss seeing the beauty in experiencing the sight of one. Some love stories aren't meant to be 60+ years because that kind of special just can't exist that long here on earth. It's really hard to say and I still miss him so much but I am grateful to have known that kind of life. The kind of love that movies are made about.

I was 12 years old when I saw it at the cinema. I cried on the way back home, I didn't feel like eating. My mom had some nice dinner for us after the cinema, I cried myself to sleep. Now when I hear the soundtrack from Love Story I still remember it and still being moved

yep I was 18 and couldn't stop crying either on the bus home to the hospital I worked at! Love Story was pretty cool and full of love! Amazing Love story indeed! Need more love in our lives today rather than pure hatred!

The music really builds the idea that this is an old-fashioned love story, timeless in its concept. Nothing in the score dates the film at all; quite the contrary, the score captures a very real, very universal feeling that has always been present in humanity, and will continue to be for the rest of humanity’s lifespan.

Movies from the 70's have such a charm and grace and this perticular soundtrack can melt even a frozen heart :)

It would melt my heart but probably not my sister's. She's as cold as a cucumber in a freezing cold walk-in Freezer.

I was just a kid and this movie came out and it was everywhere and all around us ... I wished I could have been in the movie screen..things were so simpler and easier then and the world was calm and no one hated others like it is today...

Watched Love Story tonight..in honor of the month of Valentines Day and for Ryan O Neil. Always in our hearts. My mom loved this movie when she was young, read the book by Erich Segal, and I remember her watching it on the old movie channels when I was a child. Then it became something we shared when I was older and I could appreciate the film more...now I love it so much too. We have watched it together so many times especially this wintry time of year. Ryan and Ali are so wonderful together, this music is beautiful and the whole movie is beautiful- visually and emotionally. This is a true classic. Thank you Ryan and Ali, thank you Erich Segal, and thanks to my mom for introducing me to this treasure.

I first saw the film when I was 14 years old, it blew my mind, so emotional and excellent in every way possible. It still fascinates me how it seems like something that could be made today ❤❤❤

Love Story is a modern day classic because everything works masterfully ! The chemistry between Ryan and Ali is absolutely priceless and their selling if the narrative of their incredible passion and genuine love for each other is palpable and utterly electrical as well ! Brilliant film making and superb writi g and directing and producing !!!😉😉😉😉😉

My heart is bleeding while listening to this music..it reminds me so many things and its so powerful..this movie is totally heartbreaking.

I seen this movie as a kid and unfortunately I lived it as an adult. I lost the love of my life on June 27th 2019. Continuing on without my Lisa is the hardest thing by far that I have ever done.

This is the most wonderful time of film history. The music is so amazing that it takes me to the time where I have seen it for the first time in my life. Since then I have been watching it for a hundred times... À lot of good memories...

Every time I hear this musical score it reminds me of my childhood. The theme song was actually my wedding song. We used it in my wedding.

The playing in the snow was an afterthought--they had finished the script but still had some film left, and an unexpected snow storm hit Boston. Some smart folks decided to shoot this--and I agree, it is one of the best scenes in the movie.

Music composer is Francis Lai, he wrote many beautiful movie scores. I particularly like the piece at 2:10, it’s magical.

If Nicholas Sparks' novel did not exist, the plot of A Walk to Remember would be based on this film. The story is very similar. And with a beautiful soundtrack too.

Truth is, love does mean saying your sorry and forgiving each other over and over again. We're flawed, complex people and we wound each other sometimes without even meaning to. My marriage is 34 years and counting and personally I've said "I'm sorry" more times than I can count and so has he. "I'm sorry" heals wounds and let's you move forward. I love this movie but that is one line that if followed, would be destructive to relationships.

I think the meaning behind that line is if you really love someone you won't hurt them,and therefore you won't have to say your sorry,but you are right we are only human and we make mistakes and hurt each other sometimes without even meaning to. I think the writers really messed up when they included that line in the show.

I am amazed how young they looked in this film and how young they both still look even today!! My Dad was 21 when this film came out, and they don't look any older than how he looked back then. Yet they were 10 years older. All my Dad's old photos back then with him and his buddies as well as my Mom, they look the same age as Ryan and Ali..... Great classic by the way, although it was bitter sweet!!

What memories this brings! My mother had just died from cancer at 43, and I at 19 was falling in love with Debbie Hewitt, my classmate at Broward Junior College. I don't believe there has ever been a better pairing of music with a film. And the stars were clearly having a great time together. Love as it should be, if only it could last. Well, I fell in love again at 27, married at 29, she divorced me at 45, and I've been alone ever since. Am I lucky or unfortunate?

Many of us have been in your exact situation. Being alone is better than being with the ever enigmatic female who will only disappoint you later. We tend to idealize and romanticize love but we then subject ourselves to heartache and disappointment. Keep on being ready for love in all places but don't push it because if it is there and authentic you won't have to push it. Love with your heart but do NOT count on the enigmatic female to remain emotionally or lovingly stable for long term. Love them while you can but don't over invest in love.

I am positive I saw it on the Friday of its opening week in Ann Arbor, Denise Baron’s final reading for the Oral Interpretation class i was teaching at UM was from the Segal novel (published earlier in 1970 and on the backshelf of nearly every car in the supermarket parking lot!) and given a bit earlier in Dec. I broke down after Baron ended, couldn’t speak my throat hurt so much, tears squeezed out of clenched eyes, and yet somehow I had to get up and critique her work, couldn’t move to the front, couldn’t speak for what seemed like an eternity, eventually shocked faces looking at me. On the Friday of its opening week in Ann Arbor-that would’ve been Friday, 12/18/1970. 50 YEARS AGO ***TO THE DAY*** IN 2020.

I cried when i found out about Ryan O'Neal passsing and the only one i can share how deeply this movie and the relationship between Ali and Ryan affected me is KZread. My landlady whom I'm friends with is from another country and she only prefers her country so she wouldn't understand. I felt very isolated until i read the comments on here and then i felt better.

As an eight year old I saw this film at the time. Normally eight year olds don't get sad films. Perhaps it was not a suitable film for a sensitive child. I was in Oslo staying at my aunt's house on my first visit to my Norwegian family a year after my parents separated. Tragically my father [UK] won custody. Perhaps all that was going on made me more susceptible to being sad. Best wishes ... crying my eyes out as fifty eight year old. George

Is anyone else looking for a version of the Love Story Theme from the movie and can't find it ?? There was a video on youtube titled something like "Theme from Love Story" I think the thumbnail was of the two main characters kissing? Possibly it was black and white.. it was a still image video. THIS VERSION WAS MY LIFE. Literally one of my favorite songs in the world. It has a killer piano that just hit hard in the middle and even distorted just a little. This score was perfect and truly transcendent. I'm afraid maybe UMG took it down after Francis Lai's death. Does anyone know anyone who may have extensive knowledge of Francis Lai's catalogue and could help me identify the version of this song that is now missing from the face of the earth?
