D-21's incident report: "On February 4th, 2024, Troop D Communications was notified that Poinsett County was actively pursuing a blue Nissan Maxima on Interstate 55 southbound rapidly approaching Crittenden County. It was later learned that the vehicle has stolen items from an ULTA Beauty store in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and had been pursued by the Jonesboro Police Department as well. I, Trooper Darrien Evans #573, began to respond and head North on Interstate 55. As I was responding to the call, Troop D Communications informed me the deputies in pursuit had lost sight of the suspect vehicle and discontinued the pursuit. I positioned my unit perpendicular to Interstate 55 South at the 14-mile marker and watched for the vehicle in case it came my way. After observing traffic for several minutes, I saw the vehicle described above almost rear-end a white passenger car in the fast lane. I further observed the vehicle accelerate at high speeds as it started passing vehicles on the shoulder of Interstate 55 South. At this time, I activated my emergency equipment in an attempt to catch up to the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle was recklessly passing vehicles on the shoulder at speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour. Corporal Billy Martin #190 was positioned ahead of me at the 8-mile marker to intercept the fleeing vehicle. As I followed behind the suspect vehicle it continued to drive dangerously at excessive speeds as we approached Corporal Billy Martin at the 8-mile marker. AS the suspect vehicle crested the overpass before the 8-mile marker they noticed Corporal Martin's marked patrol unit sitting ahead with emergency equipment activated, the suspect vehicle quickly took the 8-exit ramp onto Interstate 40 West. The suspect vehicle drove on the shoulder, weaving in and out of traffic at high rates of speed before taking the 275-exit ramp on Interstate 40 West. The suspect vehicle turned off onto College Boulevard and got back onto Interstate 40 East. AS the suspect vehicle drove on Interstate 40 East it continued to drive without regard for other motorists and almost struck a West Memphis Police unit with emergency equipment activated. The suspect continued to drive recklessly from the 276-mile marker to the 283-mile marker. Upon approaching the 283-mile marker of Interstate 40 East the suspect vehicle lost control and struck the center concrete wall with the front of the vehicle. The suspect vehicle swerved across all three lanes several times before the vehicle was disabled against the concrete wall. I was unable to stop in enough time to position behind the suspect and drove past the suspect vehicle stopping in front, blocking their further flight. At this time, I held all occupants at gunpoint until more units arrived on the scene to aid in apprehension. Once more units arrived all three suspects were taken into custody without further incident. Upon conducting a probable cause search of the vehicle several clear plastic bags were found throughout the vehicle containing a brownish-white bulb and stem organic material. Based upon my training and experience I believed the item to be psychedelic mushrooms. Also found was an orange ULTA Beauty bag with numerous bottles of perfumes, colognes, and other beauty products which were the items reported to be stolen from the Jonesboro location. A scale with residue was located in the vehicle in the center console. Also located was a pill bottle containing pressed, colorful pills with designs on them, these were believed to be Ecstasy pills. Among the wreckage a Glock pistol chambered in 22lr was found approximately 20 feet from the vehicle, this gun had marks on the slide and handle that indicated it was thrown from the vehicle. [ # # # REDACTED BY ASP # # #]. The driver was identified as Deltorio Campbell 4/16/1999 out of Tennessee. The front-seat passenger was identified as Darryl Gaither 6/5/1996 out of Tennessee. The rear passenger was identified as Curtis Price 5/17/1999 out of Tennessee, he also had a Nationwide extradition warrant out of Shelby County for non-related felony charges. All suspects were then transported to the Crittenden County Detention Center without further incident. Trooper Evans is getting A LOT of work these days. Has quickly become one of my favorites.

As a flight attendant I was chosen to do a safety drill to get a loaded plane of college students evaced in under 2 minutes. After a couple of tries, the pressure mounted, and I used language I didn’t even know I knew. The adrenaline was literally making my hands shake as this was a big deal to the airline to get this safety check for a new plane series. Afterwards I was freaking out thinking I would be reprimanded for the language. Well, that we all used. Surprisingly we got lots of hugs. My supervisor told me sometimes in high stress situations that the only language people understand as serious and listen to. That it sort of shocks them out of the stress trance. So I have a different feeling when I hear LEO’s use colorful language in high stress situations. Just food for thought.

Honest mistake, police vehicles have had column shifters for decades, Tahoe is the first to have the buttons on the dash instead. He probably isn’t used to using it yet!
