I just spoke to an owner of a Leap T03 in Belgium. I must say , the Euro version has been upgraded. It had a 41 Kwh battery & a 81 kw motor compared to the 55 in China. She mentioned being able to do almost 250 km in a mixed drive (200 km highway). She also said to be very happy with the purchase overall. She paid 21.700 Euros. Apparantly only 1500 T03 will be produced for the EU market & only in top version w/ 1 option : metalic paint .

If you think for one second that the Chinese are not willing and able to start producing these in other countries to avoid import tariffs? You are sadly mistaken. Airbags etc are cheap these days. Crash worthiness is a matter of materials and design, not accessories.

@@davefroman4700 I'm sure they're willing to do that, but with the higher labour costs that will make the price of these cars way higher. Also, setting up a factory in e.g. Europe is not going to be quick.

@@willemm Wages in China have tripled in the last 10 years. That is how their internal economy grew so fast and they became the largest automotive market in the world because people could AFFORD a car. The days of cheap labor in China are gone. This is a most practical EV choice for driving around town. At this price point and size, perfect for city dwellers. Not too bad looking either.
nice step up from the Mini EV. if you're in a high end city, you won't be embarrassed driving this car unlike Mini EV. BYD is slowly gaining more presence in our country, I've seen two since and one just drove in front of our house but Wuling's cars better sold in Southeast Asia.

BYD Seagull is even more advanced than the Wuling Bingo actually, just does not have quite as much storage in the back. Overall I think the Seagull is the more superior vehicle compared to the Bingo. Baojun Yep is cooler than both though.

The only headache with these beautiful EVs specially in middle east (where I live rn) is the maintenance and adaptability to harsh weather conditions. The import duty is next to nothing but as soon as there is an issue with the battery or anything major, we are screwed. Even though there are few dealers who are providing facilities for car services but it is costly.

After sales service is something that h chi obese companies really have to work on in certain markets. I think that resolving that issue will go a very long way in making their cars more popular, but it will take many years to develop.
Wuling is very famous in China, especially the most cheapest verison "mini ev" ,the reason is because it gives hope for lower class income group have the rights to afford a car. Bingo is far more practical than the Yep, but I reckon the Yep may end up siphoning off a bunch of Bingo sales because it is perceived to be a much cooler car. If this car would have a long range option (~500KM WLTP) and a bit more safety tech it would be crazy good for the tiny european streets. The price could even be double and it would still handily crush a very close rival like the Peugeot 208 electric. Though if they really did sell this car for (8000 € * 1.1 (import duty) * 1.2 (Average VAT)) + 1500 € (delivery & other expenses) = 12 060 € it would be extremely competitive as well. The price could even go as high as 25K and still be competive. Chinese automakers have been way off the mark in terms of european pricing though so not much hope there.

It actually looks rather nice, at least its proportions are right. It's a happy looking thing, like a Fiat Panda. Maybe they borrowed a bit of the Fiat 500X styling for the rear side of it. Although it sounds cheap and looks good for the price, it is hardly fit for Europe due to lack of safety features. We expect a car to have at least side and window airbags, the now mandatory emergency stop helping system, and if possible a good NCAP safety rating.
