The Worst Ys Game on PSP: Ys The Ark of Napishtim - PSPMan
Today we're taking a look at Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim for PSP. While Ark of Napishtim is a good game with a handful of different ports, the PSP version unfortunately has a lot of technically issues that in my eyes, disqualifies it from a serious playthrough. Great video! Love indepth talk about ports.
As a Ys fan and a fan of the PSP (until I bricked mine lmao) I loved this vid. Looking forward to more in this series! The Ys 1 and 2 collection and Oath of Felghana are both fire.

Dude, I'm so excited to play Oath in Felghana. Just from that little bit I played for this video I was incredibly impressed. Everybody always talks about Seven on PSP, but Oath in Felghana looks just as good if not better.

@@PSPMan yeah I loved it. It kinda reminded me of a mid 2000s anime movie haha.
I find it Funny the European PSP version of this gets a Pegi 12+ just for swearing yet the PS2 version that is the exact same scipt and had voice acting unlike PSP version rated 7+ just for fantasy violence.
Nice vid. The Ys games are really hidden games.

Thank you!
Never heard of this franchise before, but even I can see the problems with this port, yikes. Regarding the framerate thing, I've actually seen this kind of technique used before in Chibi-Robo Photo Finder of all things. The developers specifically limit the frame rate to 20 FPS instead of 30 in larger areas, which you can only really see in an emulator. Interesting what kind of workarounds devs will find for portability, huh?
The PSP version might be a travesty, but its PS2 big brother ain't much better either. Multiple times I've encountered a rather nasty glitch in the plains north of Port Rimorge, that occasionally makes the screen go all white and it freezes
