Once praised as a scientific pioneer and miracle worker, Paolo Macchiarini pledged to transform the dream of regenerative medicine into reality. Macchiarini claimed to have developed the world's first synthetic organs, transplanting them into patients with promises of a cure…until he was exposed as a con artist and liar. This is the story of Paolo Macchiarini, the fake superstar doctor.
Macchiarini was a medical doctor who aimed to revolutionize organ transplantation by creating organs using the patients' cells. Macchiarini's approach was quite simple: He obtained a trachea from a recently deceased donor and stem cells from the patient. Then, he removed cells from the transplant that could be detected as foreign by the immune system. In a complex procedure, he cultivated the patient's stem cells on the transplant, integrating them over time. In the end, this process creates a functional organ that contains the patient's cells, and, therefore, not targeted by the immune system. Macchiarini started to perform surgeries using his synthetic transplants. Soon, though, people realized that Macchiarini might hide dark secrets. His fiancee at that time, Benita Alexander, realized that he was a pathological liar. Some of Macchiarini's co-workers saw that Macchiarini manipulated data, changes patients records and doesn't file applications for his surgeries. Although it took a while, the full truth would be finally revealed in the documentary "Experimenten". The majority of Macchiarini has been unalived after his surgeries. Macchiarini was convicted and is currently in prison.

JUSTICE for all the victims!!! He needs life imprisonment!!! I can’t believe after all the evidence that they’ve found, the law gives him only 2 years of jail time!!! JUSTICE FOR ALL THE VICTIMS!!! My heart dropped when I see clearly in Julia’s eyes.. the excruciating pain that she has to go through. We need JUSTICE!!! LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR PAOLO!!! Remove his Doctorate!!! He can’t NEVER perform any surgeries!!!!

This should be a bigger priority to really take Time to understand how the court system clearly are corrupt and Befriend medical institutions rather than raw Justice. Its scary how the superhospital in sweden did not really do anything dramatic about this

Or to have far more severe psychological screening procedures and staff, to screen out possible sociopaths trying to get access to professions where they can possibly harm people. Some of these individuals can be pro social and good at their job, not out to stigmatize.. but they should be monitored if allowed in such professions to see if their disorder helps them in their profession or is causing serious harm, or even worse .. if they are of a malicious kind.

I never heard of him til he was the featured doctor on season 2 of Dr. Death. They also have a hour and half documentary on him called Dr Death: Cutthroat Conman. They got video some of his patients he operated on and all but one shown would pass from complications. The way how he charmed his way as well being narcissistic can fool anyone.

This is the 2nd video I have seen about this doctor. HOWEVER, I am still waiting on the true feasibility of REAL transplants of this type. Example: various tissues if cadavers have been seeded with recipient stem cells AFTER the cadaver part was stripped of its DNA containing cells, hearts, kidneys, and ears. So, where are we in figuring out how to get multiple organs, such as an insulin producing pancreas?

He’s mark Zuckerberg’s first cousin through his mom. He is still working at the hospital in Switzerland right now. He has work release from prison. His prison cell is actually a home he has to return to at night or when he is off. He is at the hospital most of the time though doing research. He still has very powerful patients to care for.

The references are in the link in the description which should be active (I just double-checked). The only element I have taken from the Netflix documentary is the audio from the trailer between 0:09-0:19 in my video (Reference 2 in the reference list), I have not seen the documentary on Netflix, so your claim is simply false. These videos take weeks to produce (hence my terrible upload schedule) and it's honestly frustrating to read a comment like this.

Did you know that talking speed has a correlation to dementia? People with naturally slower speech patterns even in youth are more likely to suffer from dementia later in life. Those with faster speech patterns can still develop dementia but are less likely and they seem to do better living with it while having a slower rate of decline. Just a fun fact I saw today that your comment made me think of.
