You have so much patience to reball the core two times... And reballing the core looks so trivial when you do that. But that's an extremely hard job.
@jovanpejic

A man fixes a GPU and it seems as easy as when we turn a screw :D
This card came back later for warranty. Turns out more pads were ripped under the core but they remained in place so it was very hard to notice they were disconnected from the trace while still on the PCB. In any case, it was fixed (again) and so far so good 😁
You, sir, are the meaning of the word "professional." An amateur would have quit after the first reball, but you understood that the job wasn't finished. That's professional. An amateur would have said, as you noted, that it wasn't worth it. People need to remember that you might have kept putting in more work and might still have ended up with a dead card, but you continued regardless. That's professional. No excuses. No quitting. No fear of wasting your time. That's professional. I wish I had your skill set and commitment. Outstanding!!

MSI have really cheaped out on a lot of their Radeon cards of late - that cooler is just bodged from their Ampere cards. What's really funky is they use that cooler agsin for their 7900xt and xtx cards😂 while Lovelace gets a whole new design (apart from one 4090 variant which uses the 3090 Suprim cooler).
@Dejan_

@@Dejan_ if only it was that easy to state... AMD and Nvidia cards have different mounting point distance from what i know. As well as VRM and VRAM positioning (in terms of distance from core and sides). So coolers are still slightly different despite finstack blocks being same. They just don't freaking adapt contact plate. Gigabyte too, sadly. Granted my Gigabyte (AORUS) 6750XT is still quite cool card overall despite larger than preferred edge to hotspot delta due to it having no coldplate (direct contact). It's cooler does cover VRM on both sides and inductors via three additional contact points screwed to finstack as whole.

That`s because AMD cards are for poor people and they are drunk or high most of the time so they don`t care anyway.

MSI Gaming X/Z series used to be premium in terms of quality, but now they have started cheaping out, their new premium is Suprim X
@MrKobold22
7 ай бұрын
Yeah Suprim now is what gaming X was for 10xx , but I am afraid suprim will also become obsolete, more so if their prices dont change because nvidia gpus are already overpriced. Other thing is that MSi for AMD cards is not a good choice either, I like the brand but you simply cannot trust them with a full rig. Thats why after my 4090 Suprim X connector had burned, I dropped the whole piece of shit 40 series. This was not MSI's fault, but the fact that they cheap out a lot of times made the decision for me to go with a 7900 XTX Nitro +. If ngreedia keeps up with their strategy they can say Adios to people like me who have used only nvidia products for more than 10 years. They have already lost me. I might invest in the "50xx" in the future, but as things are now I am happy to use a "fairly" overpriced AMD card. My advice for cards: Sapphire for AMD, MSI Suprim or Asus ROG for ngreedia.

Amazing work. That software that you used from the drive looked like something useful when in doubt with the status of the GPU. At the end it was the drivers from AMD, with the last ones from December = no more crashes.

truly better than factory repair🧔♀😎🤠
this is so much work in the first place. and than again. my respect.
I have the 6800xt Gaming Z Trio which is almost the same exact card with the same crappy "direct contact" cooler. I agree that they cheaped out on these cards. It has 30*C Delta T junction temps under loaded. I "fixed" it by using a solid 1/8in 4x4in piece of copper sandwiched between the die and cooler. Also replaced those cheap thermal pads with thermal grizzly's minus pad. Got my Delta T down to 10-15*C which I'm happy with. Also of note, it uses a non standard hole spacing for the heatsink mounting of 68mm x 59mm, which is the same as a 3070 but rotated 90*. The standard mounting holes are 64mm x 64mm on an OEM 6800xt and Vega card.
OOOOOO Shots fired! Seriously man, that fight bit was golden. Give your editor a raise (or at least a pat on the back)!
if there's a visibly bowed board, yup. under gpu connections should be one of the first places to look, followed by ram if the gpu is fine. but with that kind of spread, not so much on the ram.
Well, as the conector guy say, better than factory, which in case of MSI it's very much true. Awesome job

Northwest is a GPU repair specialist and does everything necessary, that's why I love this channel. 'practicality' doesn't come into it. Makes you wonder though... how many of these cards did MSI sell? are we to assume that a good percentage will fail in similar ways if they too all have the wrong thickness pads leading to bent PCBs?

Wow that was intense. My heart dropped when it didnt work after the first reballing attempt but im glad you had access to those testing tools. I have searched high and low for this tool/software.
