So it took them years to figure that out? Come on, it can't be that hard... there's a thing in CGI called 'billboard sprite' which consists of having a flat plane that rotates so that it always faces the camera(I remember it being used in crowds and foliage in games older than 3d Mickey), from there you just need to use the same equations from the billboard to drive the rotation of Mickey's ears. The only complication I can think of now is constraining the rotation's axis so that it's correctly parented with the head in 3d.

@@israelRaizer Yeah there was no way Disney's 3D division was going to settle for a 2D solution used in video games for render-quality CG animation of their mascot character. Especially since Mickey's ears have volume: you need that dynamic highlight around the inside rim of the ear that a 2D sprite could only do via hand animation, which defeats the purpose. Also, keep in mind the early 2000s is getting close to twenty years ago. A lot of what you take for granted in 3D programs today were unsolved problems back then, including rigging. The complex weighting needed to maintain head and ear volume while also shifting connected geometry around a surface is WAY easier today, practically out of the box. Back then, it all had to be developed from scratch. Similarly, Tangled is the most expensive movie Disney ever produced, not because it was literally that expensive, but because they sunk the entire budget for modernizing all their 3D engines and programs to Pixar-level

Ironically, in 2013, Disney made a 2D Mickey Mouse series that effectively broke all of Mickey's design rules, and it ended up being an award winning series. Go figure.

The week starts typically on Sunday. Him saying that he was born on a Tuesday shows how the week can start on any day. In reference to his birth, the week would start on Tuesday

Chardar Animations I prefer the animation he uses in stuff like his deep learning videos, but if he doesn’t have the time or money, this is enjoyable. Reminds me of Vihart, but I enjoy Carykh’s sense of humor a lot more.

The reason why Mickey's ears twist so much is because he has a device that constantly makes sure his ears are pointing to the camera-to make sure his Masters can give him movements and speeches. Mickey originally had no ears; he had to skull-he was a pile of goop on the ground; he hated his form-and his Masters promised him more. But they lied; the Masters always lie.

The fact half the video is exaggerated is perfection

This guy is better at explaining random stuff to me than a teacher
