Please join me in welcoming Dr. Chris Knobbe! Dr. Knobbe is an ophthalmologist who has been working on seed oil research for the past 13 years. His research investigates industrial seed oils and their connection to obesity, diabetes, and almost all chronic diseases that plague us today.
Sugar consumption levels did not change much between 1922 and 1987; however, obesity increased by 600%! During this timeframe, vegetable oil consumption went from 78 calories per person per day to 497 calories, respectively! The average American gets around ⅓ of their calories from seed oils.
How do seed oils contribute to diabetes? Simply put, seed oils drive mitochondrial dysfunction, inhibiting the body's ability to burn fuel properly.
Seed oils are rich in omega-6 fatty acids that accumulate in our body fat, cell membranes, and mitochondrial membranes. These polyunsaturated fats cause oxidation and inflammation in the body. They are also nutrient deficient. When you consume foods that lack nutrients like seed oils or sugar, your body has to pull from nutrient reserves, creating deficiencies.
Cottonseed oil was the first seed oil introduced into the food supply. It was initially manufactured as machine oil and lamp oil. It was also used as fertilizer and cattle feed. The goal was to make money and outsell butter and lard, and the manufacturers were very successful. By 2010, the average American consumed 80 grams of seed oils daily.
One of the easiest ways to eliminate seed oils from your diet is to stop purchasing food with a label! Focus on whole foods like meat, eggs, dairy, and produce, and avoid processed foods.

This presentation is very bad science. I'm a retired researcher myself. Stick with your olive oil. The omega 3 in it is great for general health. I made the effort to read every label for vegetable oil after listening to a podcast about 12 months ago. One morning, after about two weeks of making sure I consumed no vegetable oil, I noticed that the horrible pain in my hip was not there. I'd spent thousands of dollars over about a 5 year period trying to treat my hip with everything from acupuncture to bowen therapy, chiro, physio, you name it I tried it. Drs couldn't work out what had me limping, crippled in pain, at one stage even considering it might be cancer. Well, the next day and all following days I HAVE NO PAIN!! If I accidentally consume seed/vegetable oil my hip plays up within a few hours. I also have a gluten intolerance so i was susceptible to having stomach complaints even though I ate no gluten. Now, seed oil free, my digestive system is fantastic. The best thing I have ever done for my health is be vigilant about never eating seed oils!

I have been mostly bed-bound since 2019, although the limping and hip/leg pain started in the 90s, with a severe downturn in 2008 and again in 2010. Two things most certainly made things go from bad to Horrific, STATINS & Shingles. I had The worst case of Shingles our hospital had ever seen. I'm trying to boost my immunity by taking Vitamin C and L-lysine. I stopped the statins 8 days after starting them, but one doctor said it could be permanent. I've had the injections several times, but it only helps a little. I have a lot of stomach issues too! We switched from veg. oil to olive oil around 2000, however, my hubby and daughter turn the heat up full blast in the pan to cook, setting off the smoke alarm occassionly! 🙄 I'll try your method and see if it helps me!! THANKS!!🦋🌹

This is amazing Natalie. I had a very similar experience a couple of months ago. I stopped eating foods with seed oils (esp. tortilla chips-even though the corn used was organic) and about 2 weeks later my very severe lower back pain and stiffness pretty much disappeared!!! It was UNREAL. Also, the partial numbness and tingling in my lower legs and feet diminished greatly also AND my heart rate also diminished and I cut my BP med by 25%!!!! It really was amazing to see such a dramatic change. Here I thought I had spinal stenosis and was going to need a major back surgery...... the difference in my back pain and stiffness is phenomenol. Thank you for commenting, now this re-affirms my belief that giving up seed oils definitely have played a huge role in the reduction (actually almost elimination) of my lower back pain. I am also gluten free mostly now. Thank you again and also these doctors.

I'm newly diagnosed with diabetes, I've been eating crap food for the last 10 years due to severe and debilitaing dep, and not having a kitchen, I fully believe this is why I got diab. I used to eat extremely healthy when I was married, I'd cook all our food, I had a gourmet stove and beautiful kitchen, thanks to divorce I ended up losing everything. Building myself back up now on my own. I'm so glad I found this, I'm going to change all of it completely, and go back to basics and how I was raised and cut out all the label foods. I actually love and adore cooking, now I have an excuse to do all my own cooking and now I know how to take care of myself without killing myself unknowingly. I'm so thankful for this video.

When I protest saying that oils have nothing to do with diabetes, they say it was the doctors advice. Seed oils include canola (or rapeseed in the United Kingdom), soybean, sunflower, cottonseed, corn, grapeseed, rice bran, and safflower. In fact, most vegetable oils are seed oils. You will find this in the health food store and the label it organic. Well, I'm not going to consume any of that regardless of it being organic or not.I try to keep away from the oils because I prefer butter. And I was raised with butter

What we all really want is french fries without seed oil and with simple Heinz ketchup to go with our burger. Until then, I go to sports bars that have salmon and get a side of baked salmon instead of fries. Hack: The salmon dinner was $22, but as a side to my $15 burger, it was a $5 up charge. I also skip the bun and have no processed anything. Well, I'm sure there is some crap in there somewhere, but my way should be a big improvement.

Extra virgin olive oil is the only one to keep. It’s a cold pressed fruit juice, not processed. And the oil comes mainly from the flesh of the olive not the seed, but polyphenols yes. Just remember to preserve it from light air and heat, and consume it before it turns rancid

Living in Spain I don't face that problem, but indeed in the US, it's terrible. Olive oil fraud exists for a long time even if it's better now. The problem is that the US are not part of the IOC (International Olive Oil Concil) that provides stricts regulations and controls. In the US, the brand Graza seems to provide a good product from Spain at fair price.

I'm surprised I didn't hear comparisons between the industrial lubricants turning into FDA "food"....and the origin and evolution of Alcoa's toxic byproduct, Fluoridic acid, working its way through our magic legislature and FDA to eventually become a supposedly healthy addition to everyone's drinking water, toothpaste etc The toothpaste isn't too hard to avoid, but the "drinking water" not so much. I just think of the similarities - waste lubricants became seed oils to consume, and a toxic aluminum byproduct became an ingredient in everything from dental products to our water supply.

Life style changes have to be factored in also. People did more physical activities back in the day. From the late 90's until now people sit in front of computers at work and at home. They aren't riding bikes, walking, swimming and all around exercising anymore. Tennis, racquetball, skiing, and other exercise activity were normal social activities, better becoming a thing of the past.

I humbly submit that I recommend the first book! Although one could always read both books!

I stopped purchasing seed oils, years ago, but started reading the ingredients on food products that are polluted with that poison and found out that most foods are laced with it right of the shelves. My solution was to start baking bread products myself, and from there I started making other products like speghatti sauces and other staples. Now I'm on to sugar and flour substitutes that are used on keto. We can change and still enjoy food.

This is so true. I was suffering from GORD a while back largely due to stress but it stayed even after I had done what was stressing me out. And at the time I was already conscious of what oil I use and avoided seed oils as much as I can but just didn’t know why. And I realised my GORD would only ever play up when I go out for dinner or get take out with friends. That’s when I realised how bad seed oil is for you.
