    Sometimes it happens that the hole cards shown at the stream are wrong. I think this is the most logical explanation for Nick's fold here.

    Think about this: if this dude actually had a flush and Nick folded, everybody in would be assuming that Nick is cheating in his own stream. People love to jump to conclusions based on incomplete information, as in Garret’s case

    I've folded smaller flushes and been right. Then when I start calling rivers with baby flushes because I want to play GTO, I lose to a bigger flush and kick myself.

    @@CMCMTTTV I always get the other player to show or there is a showdown, so I know what my opponent had GTO is such a losing strategy sometimes. When I play on instincts I make way more money....especially when other players play GTO and give me all their chips

    I saw a guy fold a King high flush face up on the turn vs. a check/raise all in for 50bbs, he was pretty certain the other guy had him beat. The other guy showed nut low flush, we were laughing about that fold for weeks after that.

    Its the live tell that confused him. To him it was more that he had it than a bluff But if he read closer, he would see its most likely a bluff Since nobody would stare you down like that with the goods

    Its a really good break down for a good player, however this dude isn't a good player and he was wasted I think Nick should have definatly taken this into consideration. Like 10 hands prior Dark Knight called an all in preflop for 8K with a 6/4 off. DK was also in a ton of pots showing crap all the time, with the ace of clubs redraw here I really have no idea how he makes this fold against this player....total nit.

    As much as I hate the guy, he’s getting too much crap for this fold. The A of clubs is a horrible card to call off with here, it blocks all the natural bluffs. It’s a call for sure, but there’s so many worse folds out there.

    To be fair, Nick's bad fold here is not so much evidence of the pitfalls of exploitative play or the benefits of gto, but rather that good strategies (exploitative or otherwise) are hard to employ. Plus the "hero complex" is real (namely people would get out of their way to make big calls/big folds just because... reasons)

    Nick vertucci is a very bad poker player. Also trying to analyze a hand from HCL is an exercise in futility. This is reality tv show and should not be used as a tool on how to play poker correctly.

    Having a baseline for when you have no information on an opponent is great, but you can just check your HUD for population tendencies which are basically that they call too much and bluff too little. For that reason just overfolding in this spot makes sense, unless you saw him drink 13 margaritas 😂
