"The worst experience i've had as a football manager" - Ange Postecoglou on Tottenham vs Man City

Ange Postecoglou has described Tottenham's match with Manchester City on Tuesday night as "the worst experience I've had as a football manager" and said that he feared observers would question his integrity if Spurs lost heavily.
Ahead of the game, there was a big focus on how a Tottenham win would give their arch-rivals Arsenal the advantage in the Premier League title race over City going into the final weekend of the season.
Postecoglou scoffed at pre-match suggestions Spurs supporters would rather see their side lose to boost City's chances of beating Arsenal to the crown. But on the night there was a subdued atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with City's goals in their eventual 2-0 win even cheered by some Spurs fans. There were also chants from the Spurs supporters, when their team had fallen behind, taunting Arsenal.

Any fan who wants their team to lose should never be allowed back in the stadium and I guarantee the players who don’t really understand the rivalry probably don’t want to play for a club like that either

As an Aussie, I never understood the hatred in the UK for rival clubs. It doesn't happen in Australia, thank goodness, but then our population is changing rapidly... Stay true Ang....
You’re too good for Tottenham Ange
Worse experience for a manager than being sacked tbh......
This mentality goes very deep into the roots of the club. From top to bottom, was it last season Spurs v Arsenal that the Arsenal goalkeeper was attacked by a Spurs fan behind the goal at the final whistle, as I said it’s root deep! All very sad.
People talking about var being prehistoric and wrong seem to have a short memory about wrong decisions by linesman all the time that cost games.
Ange leave mate they don’t deserve you plenty other jobs out there
Lol even their coach thinks they have a losing mentality
I do not understand why critics keep conflating the the attitude of Spurs fans with the ambition of the club. The fans did not lose five out of six matches. That is down to the players and coach. There was no realistic chance of catching Villa! Arsenal fans gloat over every success. They still might win the league. And I can just imagine the reaction if they do. On Tuesday night Spurs played well. The man of the match was a substitute keeper who only played for twenty minutes. Doesn’t that tell you something?

What? He said he couldn’t understand the feelings, you’ve got to want to win every game. Who was the one experimenting the team formation in the cups this season? There is something missing in him as a tactician, his style of play was great early in the season, but then other teams soon learnt how to combat it and we never changed it or maybe couldn’t? Hence the recent poor form involving heavy defeats. I for one will be watching our last game nervously.

Well said Ange.
What a true gentleman. He should move to a better club.
Then he'd be seen as the manager who gifted Arsenal the title instead of stopping them himself when he allowed his team to go 3-0 down instead of trying as hard as he did against Man City. Doesn't make sense, Spurs fans are right, he didn't sense the rivalry when he faced Arsenal.

Rivalry is important, but the most important part of competition is integrity. If Spurs won the PL or UCL on their own merit, behind all the anger I'd think "you know what, fair play, they deserved it". The possibility of the Spurs-City game being tarnished by tanking, thus allowing a team to win a title they otherwise wouldn't have won, damages not only the Premier League, but the sport of association football in general.
I agree whit the mentality. Tottenham is a small club whit a small club mentality. Lose a spot in the UCL and celebrate for it? Absolutely disgraceful
This guy is the most down to earth human being alive.
Ange is a legend
He is here to change that mentality and I think he will.
It's just who they are mate
Get rid of VAR ! It devalues Football. Goal-Line is fine as he says eg. Again automatic off-side if accurate-quick then fine. VAR is garbage kills the goose. He speaks a lot of good sense here including Spurs mentality (lol).
Tottenham as a club doesn’t deserve Ange, absolute shame on them!
Really hope he wins a trophy next year!
The fans feelings reflect the clubs success on the field, not the success on the field reflects the fans feelings.
"...prehistoric..." with reference to VAR! So true. While everyone has a view of VAR one way or another, I have seen no one in the media (pundits, footballers, ex-footballers, referees, ex-referees Uncle Tom Cobley and all) actually questioning the intrinsic accuracy of the actual measuring system that delineates the placement of the 'measuring' lines used; those across the pitch with respect to their angle to the side of the pitch, thickness of the lines, the distance between the attacker and defender's lines; and the vertical lines that drop from the leading, scoring edge of those players. Does the VAR team actually get a read out of the respective measurements or do they have to judge visually once the system has placed the lines on the screen? If they use system measurements what is the inherent accuracy of those measurements, eg +/_ x mm for distances, +/- y degrees for angle. And how often is the system calibrated and are those data made available to the public? If they rely on a visual assessment is the VAR operators' eyesight tested? What about colour blindness. etc etc etc. It's the blind leading the blind here. I have seen no one question the accuracy of the actual software used. It's all been about usage. If the actual accuracy of the system was made known then anything within the error limits of any single one measurement could be rejected as being 'too close to call' - so a third decision should be added: 'Offside', 'Onside', 'Too Close to call so not Offside'. I'd be happy with that. Of course the subjective view on non-measured incidents such as fouls in the penalty box, red cards etc will still remain. That needs more stringent defining of what is a 'foul' with the definition being more on the side of the defender and the clear showing of intention. It'll never happen though........
Thought Aresenal won the title yesterday. If not, what were they celebrating?
Did I just hear him say “I’m not a Spurs supporter”

I’d never want my home town team to lose, doesn’t matter what winning or losing would mean for our rivals. Just bewildering tbh.

As Spurs fans, we don't hear the end of the invincibles and winning the league at White Hart Lane! Stopping their success is also a victory! Simple!
Ange is totally justified in his feelings.
Walk away son no one will blame or judge you 4 it and those scabs will keep rotting Ynwa
