The worst college basketball game was so historically awful, a ranked team scored just 24 points
Спорт
Do you ever forget where you put your keys? Or the name of a friend-of-a-friend? What about how to play a game that you've been practicing, thinking about, living and breathing for your entire life? That's what happened in February 2019, when Virginia Tech and N.C. State played each other in a game that was supposed to be basketball but rarely resembled the sport. Both teams were ranked, both teams were great shooters, and yet they combined for a game so terrible that it was a complete blowout EVEN WITH the winning side only scoring 47 points. Woof.

“Momma said there’ll be days like this.”
This was also one of the last games on Raycom Sports, which over the last 30 years did football and basketball from the ACC, SEC, and Carolina Panthers preseason. (Raycom was also known as Jefferson Pilot Sports, the ACC Network, and Lincoln Financial Sports, due to selling naming rights) However Raycom Sports has just come to an end following the end of the 2019 ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament.

I didn't know Raycom Sports still existed, they used to do the broadcasts for the old Southwest Conference in the 80's and early 90's before the conference split up. Every guy over the age of 40 in Texas and Arkansas remembers Raycom while yelling at their 20 inch tv screens on Saturdays.

Joaquin Perez yep they actually just closed for good last week. The 2019 ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament was their final broadcast. Cool to see them in an SB Nation video in their final season

Raycom Sports will always be missed, especially during their intros in the 90s when I would watch the now-defunct Tournament of Champions and a couple Michigan/Duke games on WCTI-12 (ABC in New Bern/Greenville/Jacksonville, NC area), as well as ACC Basketball later on that same network and WRAL-5 (formerly, CBS in Raleigh/Durham, NC)
Apparently this happened the same day Greenville University scored 200 POINTS against Fontbonne
47-24 sounds like a Football Game
This makes me suspect that there was some point shaving going on, but *both* teams were cheating.

Idk how two teams can both play this bad on purpose while showing enough effort that no real investigation ever comes out. This was someone in the crowd being punished by God in real time. Everyone else were just there to witness the punishment. The person being punished was whoever felt the least amount of satisfaction leaving the arena.
When i saw Jon Bois face i had to check to see if the video was a half hour long, but when i saw that there were only a minute left i got really disappointed so i just watch his bit for a half hour to make be feel better.
This is probably the worst game because it was low scoring and non-competitive. But there was a semifinal game in the B1G tournament a few years back between Wisky (of course) and PSU. It ended 36-33. I was there and had watched OSU win the first semifinal so we stuck around naturally to watch this one. We left midway through the send half because we were bored to death. I think the score was something like 26-24 and we just couldn't take any more. As far as my team goes, I think the worst "score desert" game I witnessed was an early season game vs some nobody team. That team was so terrible shooting the ball I swear it impacted OSU. The halftime score was 30-6, and the final was 59-22. That team got to 22 by hitting a 3 pointer with less than 2 minutes to go. It was the fewest points OSU had given up in something like 70 years.
I feel bad for NC STATE. I know Coach Jimmy V had to yelling in Heaven. RIP Coach V, sorry you had to see that. But I know that the Wolfpack will always remember your famous saying " Don't give up don't ever give up "
I remember that when I first saw the final score, I thought the website was accidentally showing the halftime score. I see that once in a while on the ESPN scores tab. 47-24? That was more like the final score of the games I played with my terrible 8th grade team.

Right an expert can't even pronounce what he is talking about.
In a Bball tournament in my 5th grade it was a 16 minute match / 4 min quarters and the final score was 40 - 36 which still tops this.

Bro you're talking about 5th grade, you expect anyone to play defense?
2:22 playing on a double rim be like
I always have an imagination on what it would be if a basketball game ends with a 0-0 score. No field goals made, no free throws were made, just lot of blocks and turnovers (and missed shots of course). This is the farthest it has ever came.
video recommended as they just made the final four 😂
Glad this was not between NC State and "Louie-ville" in Rally, NC.When he said Rally, North Carolina, I had to stop and replay it to make sure I heard him correctly, really bad and I'm in South Carolina.
I found Waldo at least. He was hiding as the trumpet player in the NC State band during this game. Might’ve been his most clever hiding spot yet.
Thinking other way around: Low-scoring game means both team defended with great attitude. Defense wins championships.

Are you kidding me? If you were a fan of either team, you would actually be happy with that score? Pathetic

You’re actually delusional and wrong in the head if you believe what you just said.
I've watched nearly every NC State game in the last 15 years, and I can tell you...we were not surprised that this could happen to us, especially after being ranked.
I just wanna say amazing editing dude
"Someone was open but he's in the third row"
I was sure this was going to be about the 1983 Stall Game between Kentucky and University of Cincinnati, which ended with a score of 24-11.
And now we’re in the final four wtf lol
Okay video! Thanks for uploading!
3:43 NC’s FG attempts remind me of what Flight would put up
It was very sad to actually be at this game
Thank God a new upload, all I ever do is refresh SB nation 8)
I don't often watch US college basketball, but it was a Saturday afternoon and this game came on. I'm glad I only watched the first half.
Illinois 33- Penn St 38 in 2009 has to be up there in the rank of terrible major college basketball games. It was aided by 4 FTs at the end of the game even. That game led me to go back to my frat house, drink McCormick's vodka and pass out before making out to the bars.
As a Wolf pack fan, I still have nightmares about this game.
My cousin, who’s a huge State fan, went to this game 😂
The first 7 minutes they had a hockey score going, too bad they didn't fight.
This feels more like a hockey game with all the back and forth. Except in hockey, the best games end at like 2-1 in overtime or shootouts.
