The worst NBA playoff game was over 48 minutes of garbage time

Спорт

When the Denver Nuggets visited the New Orleans Hornets for game four of their 2009 playoff series, hope still existed in the world. But as soon as they tipped off, that flew out the window...or tried to fly out the window but completely missed, hitting the side of the arena, and comically making its way into the trash can. This game had everything in the most "nothing" sense of the term.

Because of that game no one remembers the other game 7 that night, where the Celtics completely dominated the Bucks in a 30 pt blowout. Any other night that game would've been a huge deal but because a way bigger blowout upset happened in the West nobody cares about it (besides Celtics and Bucks fans obviously) lol

Fritz Fauber To be fair after Giannis he would be MVP this year too. He earned it last year. And as for this year, 36 a game is 36 a game no matter how he got them. It’s not his fault the nba lets him travel on his stepbacks, he’s just taking advantage of what they give him. Same for the fouls, that shit he was doing the other day in the playoffs where he’d kick his legs out, yeah he did that bull all season and a lot of times they’d call a foul on the defense just cause James kicked his feet forward. But you still can’t fault him for continuing to do it, I mean they kept calling it so why not? And he’s still, regardless of that, one of the best scorers in the league. His stepbacks, including when he doesn’t travel, is unstoppable. His finishing ability is overshadowed by his shooting and he’s a great ball handler and passer, although he can be reckless at times. And there’s nothing wrong with scoring points off of free throws, points are points.

Still asking for the Worst American League game, Aug. 22, 2007: Texas Rangers 30 - Baltimore Orioles 3. First three innings alluded to the possibility if an actually good game, being 5-3 until the sixth inning, where the Rangers belted 9 unanswered. The Orioles then sorta give up, making no more runs for the rest of the game and giving p 10 more runs in the 8th. But the Rangers have smelt blood and they intend to feast, hitting the resigned Orioles for another 6 runs in the 9th inning to make a nice, round 30-3 blowout.

Some other unmentioned "worst" stats: This game featured five technical fouls. The Hornets committed 26 turnovers. I hope someone can find a record of the most turnovers committed by a team in a game or in a playoff game, because I tried but couldn't. EDIT: I found that the Bulls and Warriors are tied for the most turnovers in a playoff game at 36. So, the Hornets are not the worst in that regard, but still pretty terrible. And it was a playoff record for their franchise.

I saw the thumbnail and the title and knew exactly what game this was. I was an unfortunate 11 year old who had the honor of being there. At a certain point we just stayed bc it was a historically terrible game. I went to like 1/2 of the regular season home games that year and the year prior and never saw any of those bench players play before. This was the last time my family bought Hornets/Pelicans tickets.

I didn't even think about the beatdown that the Magic put on the Celtics in '95 being one of the biggest playoff beatdowns of the modern era at the time. Games such as this one will make you forget about that pretty quickly.

Still remember this game like it was yesterday (09' playoffs).. The Hornets got mollywopped the first two games in Denver (felt like the series would be over in three games lol). Then surprisingly, the Hornets came out in game 3 (with a virtuoso performance from CP3), and beat the overwhelmingly favorite Nuggets. Then, game 4 happened. Luckily for the Hornets and Hornets' fans, the game was only aired on NBA TV -- I believe on a Tuesday night -- so most of America probably didn't see this shellacking, that a normal playoff NBA audience would've seen. And when they eventually were down by 60.. I was like "How in the Hell do you lose by 60 points, at home, in a playoff game?! With CP3 on your team?" The Nuggets was a complete problem, for that Hornets squad.

I don’t know. This was an early playoffs stinker. The 96-54 beat down Utah took in the 1998 finals is far worse....cuz it happened in the finals and everyone in America witnessed it. This might be a second place, but it will be nowhere as bad as that finals game. Significance and depth in the playoffs should trump an early round game.
