Ya gotta LOVE THIS GUY! R C, I thank the Lord that you left us with countless hours and blessings through the years! An unparalleled intellect but a tough Chicagoan through and through! RC is the kind of Chicagoan that you would meet smoking a big fat stogie and having a sloppy Chicago Dog at Wrigley Field praying for the Cubs! He and "Johnny Mac" were the odd couple! John Mac Arthur being the Felix Unger of the couple and R C being the Oscar Madison of the two, but they complimented each other perfectly! We'll miss you R C and I'll bet that there'll be a line of people in Heaven waiting to shake your hand and give you a big hug! God bless R C Sproul! God Bless And Take Care...

RC Sproul what an amazing man used by God. I've learned so much listening to his teaching series, sermons, many time speaker at conferences. I'm so thankful we have all these materials to still learn Biblical truth.

My soul can’t get enough of Dr Sproul’s teachings. I very much wish that there was a like theologian who taught in an educational presentation, although I’m blessed and enriched by Drs Baucham, MacArthur, and Piper. Regarding Yeshua descending into hell after his death on the cross, a thought came to mind and wanted to ask et large. Does His descent into hell conflict with Him telling the thief on the cross that He would be with Him in heaven (Luke 23:42-43), in addition to being with the L-rd after death (2 Corinthians 5:8)? My intention is not to question the authenticity of the Apostles Creed, but rather to gain a deeper understanding of His Word. Numbers 6:24-26 and Shalom Shalom.

Jesus said truly I tell you today, you will be with me in Paradise ... Luke 23:43

But that is the point. The Jews were unable to keep the laws. If you break one you are guilty of all. So if you believe that by keeping all the laws will appease a holy and righteous God, then one day you will hear :'depart from me I never knew you". The doctrines of Jesus Christ is key!!!

At His death, Jesus body and Spirit rested , His Spirit Is Who resurrected Him . After the resurrection , when Mary came toward Him , He stopped her by telling her” do not touch Me for I have not yet ascended to My Father”, so He nor the thief spirits at death went to heaven. He ascended after going to show His disciples that He was alive and even allowed doubting Thomas to touch His wounds. His ascension was witnessed by His disciples after He promised to send the Holy Spirit to be with them.

@@HearGodsWord 1 Peter 4:6 says this and does not show Christ ascended into Hell: ~ For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. NKJV Ephesians 4:9 says this: ~ " (Now this, “He ascended”-what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)" He seems he was in Sheol, the grave.

@@kentchambers4468 just giving you some examples of the references that have been used. Whether you agree or not isn't my concern.

Jesus as The God Man went to Hades and preached His triumph there to the spirits in captivity, the fallen angels who left their first estate, mated with human women in the days of Noah, and made god men like Heracles and also monsters. Those disobedient spirits were literally bound to meet The God Man and see how their schemes came to naught while His bore eternal fruit. This interpretation means Peter and Jude (and Genesis 6) are not cryptic at all, just embarrassing to some theologians who feel it is too much like a comic book story or Greek mythology.

The 'work of Christ' is the Torah. If you don't keep ALL the Laws of God in the Torah, Jesus will tell you to depart for Him because you are Lawless. Forget about doctrine and learn about the Torah.

That's not the gospel. The gospel is that Christ has kept all the words of the Torah and that believing in Him alone imputes His righteous life to the believer's account as he also bore our sins on the cross procuring our redemption through a penal substitutionary atonement in His death.

@@MrBrowninsauce There is no vicarious atonement. The Scriptures say in 4 different places that no man can die for another man's sin. What I'm saying is exactly what Jesus side that His Gospel is repent and obey the Commandments, The Gospel of James says, that sin is a violation of the Torah If you don't keep the Commandments of God, you won't get grace, and you won't be saved. What the modern day church teaches, is a lie.

@@onejohn2.26 marks right my friend While Pauline teachings concentrate on our justification with God, James’ teachings concentrate on the works that exemplify that justification. James was writing to Jews to encourage them to continue growing in this new Christian faith. James emphasizes that good actions will naturally flow from those who are filled with the Spirit and questions whether someone may or may not have a saving faith if the fruits of the Spirit cannot be seen, much as Paul describes in Galatians 5:22-23. The Book of James is the ultimate description of the relationship between faith and works. So ingrained in the Mosaic Law and its system of works were the Jewish Christians to whom James wrote that he spent considerable time explaining the difficult truth that no one is justified by the works of the law (Galatians 2:16). He declares to them that even if they try their very best to keep all the various laws and rituals, doing so is impossible, and transgressing the tiniest part of the law made them guilty of all of it (James 2:10) because the law is one entity and breaking one part of it is breaking all of it. The epistle also puts to rest the idea that one can become a Christian and yet continue living in sin, exhibiting no fruit of righteousness. Such a “faith,” James declares, is shared by the demons who “believe and tremble” (James 2:19). Yet such a “faith” cannot save because it is not verified by the works that always accompany true saving faith (Ephesians 2:10). Good works are not the cause of salvation, but they are the result of it.
