The Practice of Love: Developing Christian Character with R.C. Sproul

The Bible describes love as an attribute of God. Because of that, our growth in love as Christians is the fruit of the Holy Spirit’s work in us. True love is described in 1 Corinthians 13 as being patient, kind, humble, and enduring, and this is the kind of love we are called to display in our own lives. But how? In this message, Dr. R.C. Sproul provides several practical guidelines to help us develop and manifest the God-given fruit called love.

Want to practice love? For ALL the law is in love your neighbor as yourself, Galatians 6:2 says to bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the LAW of Christ. I preach this and it sadly goes in one ear and out the other of most professing Christians, they are tricked into serving a building paying a "tithe" instead of serving the true building, the body of Christ. I even remember Jesus declaring who the true worshipers were that God is seeking in John 4:20s ❤️

Love is like our growth in Christ first we have to realize that we can love and that our love karups our civilization . now when I say karups don’t use that word as a negative but a positive, and once we see the effects we then can elevate to that level and hopefully continue elevating from that point on . once we get to the top of our head from our feet we then have to use our spiritual connectivity to continue rising higher like the beans of the Sun Ray rise 😇🙏🏽🍷🤴🏾👸🏽❤️‼️

He wants me to believe that he will no what love is after I had to leave him , because we are not married, The holy spirit helped me leave for my sanity...I prayed to God to give me a solution whether to return to him if it's his will ? So now I'm waiting for that to happen please answer my question,🙏

Dear sister, I have been in your position. The will of God is never to abide in continuing sinful relationships. We must foster forgiveness for those who mistreat us but we are not expected to stay in those relationships. The Lord has lead you to leave for good reason, He has a much better intention for you heart and life. Do not allow the devil to deceive you into believing that this man is the only one for you. Throw yourself into the arms of Jesus and live for Him alone. It is better to be single than to be in a relationship that is ungodly and affecting your walk with God. We are called to be set apart and holy as He is holy. May God bless you abundantly and give you wisdom and joy in Him.

@Rubes Ruiz The question is won't the idea of predestination give one a feeling of superiority over his fellow neighbors that *will not* not saved? Remember that feeling of superiority was* the stumbling block of Satan and the Pharisees in Jesus's time. Naot that I disagree that God knows who will be saved but rather that I agree that our lives here on earth is the time of our "refinement", wherein we will be able to love despite of, with God's grace. But then, one can only truely love his neighbor if he believes that his* neighbor was ALSO created in the image of God (Adam's life came from God's breath, which is God's Spirit*, making him an image of God). Only with this knowledge will we be able to truly love. Because if we were all created in the image of God then any sin against our neighbors, who were created in the image of God, will be sin against God himself. And if all were created in God's image, all are given the opportunity to believe and repent. I believe that we cannot truly love and respect our neighbors if we think they were created for destruction from the very beginning.

@Rubes Ruiz I don't see any pitfall of pride stepping in if we believe that Jesus died and bore the punishments for our sins. We have no credit in that. Basically what I believe is that in God's perspective He knows who will believe. But in man's perspective we are saved though our belief. Now there is nothing to be proud of in the act of believing because even belief comes from God (Mark 9:24). Just like our prayers: even though God knows our needs before we even prayed and He may have answered it beforehand, it is still the duty of man to pray. Not only because we can only see the present but also because God still wants us to pray anyway. Prayer is an exercise of our faith. It is the same with our faith, it is our response toward God's call on us, not our work of salvation. We are not saved through the works of our faith, rather we are able to attain salvation by faith in God's sacrifice for us. In sum, it is not the belief that saved us but it is the blood of Jesus Christ plus the response of believing that the blood of Jesus Christ saved us.
