Live Life to the Glory of God: Themes from Ecclesiastes with R.C. Sproul

No matter how many modern conveniences are at our disposal, we cannot escape the suffering, grief, and pain of this fallen world. How can we persevere in faith when we face life’s hardships? Today, R.C. Sproul teaches that true wisdom points us to place our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, who has overcome the world.

Lots of people I talk to object to the Bible over issues of violence etc dont seem to realize that the Bible DESCRIBES human nature & God’s dealings with fallen man. Description doesn’t equal approval any more than a book of photos of disease conditions & skin lesions promotes sickness. Precisely the opposite. It is for diagnosis and healing purposes “Grace taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved.”

Ive become super vigilent in church settings . I listen closely & it not a shock 2 me when i hear preachers. teachers , reverends or ministers spin their own Bible translations & well the Word warns us that in the end times there would be many who would turn away from the gospel and no longer hold to the truth, Apostasy. No one ever said hungry lions dont end up in a church of sorts. ❤ I ran with the beautiful people in their beautiful surroundings and than i was found there no more. Thank you Jesus Christ.

My deceased mother being such a one. Exclaiming once while I was reading my Bible: "That book's disgusting! It promotes homosexuality!" I explained the truth within your comment. She had not God's grace to hear. Two years later my older brother announced he was a homosexual. After grappling with his admission which should not have shocked her -- she embraced homosexuality as an upstanding alternative lifestyle. My assertion she not change the vileness of it into virtue simply because her son practiced it recieved no embrace. The Bible was now foul to her for condemning her son's lifestyle. She never was granted God's grace -- and is now in he'll for eternity. "Who are my mother and brothers and sisters? Those who do the will of my Father." I experience neither pleasure or pain that the mother of my earthly body is in hell. My three Christ--hating siblings will be joining her. Thy will be done, O Lord.

Ecclesiastes 12 12 Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”- 2 before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain; 3 when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop, when the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through the windows grow dim; 4 when the doors to the street are closed and the sound of grinding fades; when people rise up at the sound of birds, but all their songs grow faint; 5 when people are afraid of heights and of dangers in the streets; when the almond tree blossoms and the grasshopper drags itself along and desire no longer is stirred. Then people go to their eternal home and mourners go about the streets. 6 Remember him-before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well, 7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. 8 “Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher.[a] “Everything is meaningless!” The Conclusion of the Matter 9 Not only was the Teacher wise, but he also imparted knowledge to the people. He pondered and searched out and set in order many proverbs. 10 The Teacher searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true. 11 The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails-given by one shepherd.[b] 12 Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body. 13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

Mercy I was in a Bible study last week and it stunned me when the narrator gave a percent of folks like myself who believe in our Lord and Savor was dismally small. Why I should get so twisted is telling me I missed the boat somewhere along the way. God did give us a heads up about the last days. It just makes me want to tell folks Jesus lives and He is awesome❤🎉

I wonder, and actually believe, this video was just posted (and I’m up to see the notification) on the day when I’m going to clean up the yard of a customer selling his home to move to Florida; having cancer as a relatively young man, which isn’t responding to treatment. I will try to savor this moment; as Solomon recommends. Not be depressed. And even be bold enough to speak of important issues with him. And think of this as an opportunity to tell him Jesus has overcome the world -funny: after I type this RC mentions cancer specifically -Daddy God, help me be a light, not sorrowful friend of Job, as I meet & work for Brook Heimbaugh today: join me on prayer if you read this this morning! Thanks again Ligonier

He's speaking about partaking in communion. Which is the elements bread/ crackers and grape juice or red wine, symbolic of the blood he shed for us. We must partake of it as believers, acknowledging and sharing of the breaking of bread, giving thanks for the provisions God has provided

@@justushalliday9389 I went back and looked and two issues came up at the same time I forgot, in John 6:56-69- the idea of eating flesh & drinking blood that we understood but disgusted the majority of the crowd: but THEN the idea that Jesus knew only those God sent could really accept or believe him… and the worst one who really didn’t believe, Judas, also is mentioned!
