You're not the only one.I finished the Portal games and the Talos principle without any help at all...but this game is something different.This is the first one I have to admit I would never be able to finish without watching you-tube here and there to help me on my way understanding what I have to do with some combinations.The different colors and shapes and how they relate are hard to grasp at times

Thank you so much for these and for actually giving clear instructions on what the rules behind these puzzles are. I don't like having to turn to guides for games like this, but if I'm going to check out a guide, the solution itself doesn't do it justice for me, I only feel alright about it if I can fully understand the reason WHY the solution is what it is! :)

It took Blow around eight years to make the game. So yeah, plenty of time.

Portal...no problem,the Talos Principle...no problem.But this one I have to admit I sometimes have to go and search You-tube for answers 'cause I can't figure out a puzzle or find all the signs that light up on the black monoliths.The puzzles in the forest shown in this video are among the thoughest to figure out.Those had me scratching my head sometimes.My hats off to anyone that can complete this game 100% without any help.Those guys must be at Einstein-level intelligence.

Dam this is two years old.im glad ps4 gave this game free for psplus or i would have nevwr known about it.great guide i subbed was stuck on this dam map

I've completed Catherine, a game full of insanely difficult puzzle, without guides. But, never Have I ever felt so inclined to pull one up like in "The Witness."

Fantastic game, some help needed here and there and some worked out on my own. Glad I got it for free on PS Plus

I personally don't know if it's worth 40$. If you've never played it before, play Portal 2 instead of this game. I've never played a game that made me feel so dumb before. I don't know if I'm stupid or if the puzzles are just so obscure that you end up spending hours upon hours trying to find the solutions. Portal requires some thought but I always felt great when I found the solutions because they were clever and not too obtuse. And I was laughing my ass off the whole time too. In this game, the world is nice looking but the game has no personality. I've resorted to just trying to get some trophies rather than finishing the game to get my money's worth. That's just my opinion. This game is an acquired taste for sure. Not for me

I have to agree, the game just isn't worth that price. This place and it's bridges of puzzles completely broke me though simply because they added far too many puzzle within one area, I felt like I was getting nowhere. It wasn't rewarding anymore.

Kamuro Tetsu im playing it for free with games with gold april 2018 and i personally wouldnt spend $40 for it but it is kinda fun when i know what im doing

Actually the witness is a free game (if you have gold -or game pass-) for xbox. The witness is a game that tells about the creators mind set. He sees puzzles All over the world, so he made a game so you can *Witness* What he sees.

5:15 thought I was insane because I was on the last when with the barricades but thought I was doing that one and theyre identical so I genuinly panicked and thought th puzzle was updated 😂

the puzzle at 7:30 is has pieces swapped in my game.....bottom left starts are squares and one of black squares are stars

Do you know how to fill all of the black pillars things near the desert ruins and the other ones as well? I don't have this game but I've seen others try to fill it in. Do you achieve a trophy as well?

Anyone else get the impression that the developers got the order of the puzzle at 5:58 and the one after it mixed up? The second puzzle really looks like a tutorial for the first ... Also, totally worth the money if simulated walking and actual thinking until your brain melts is your thing.

What do the triangle puzzles do??

I started playing this game because it was so colourful And I'm not a big fan of the puzzles The puzzles are a huge pain most of the time

I didn't know i can use boats so i have no idea how to get to this area

12:53 theres another solution to this puzzle, it lights up another white cable (and does not bring down the bridge) wonder what this is for? I can't find anything in-game or online that relates to this cable.

It's probably one of the best looking games I've ever played but the puzzles are just totally obscure. I wouldn't consider myself stupid but these puzzles are impossible without checking KZread for the solution. A little tutorial in the game just to get you going and to explain how they work wouldn't of gone a miss. Defo wouldn't recommend this game to anyone unfortunately, not unless they update the game and add a little guidance.

+GMACF1 Got every light on 0 youtube checking, it's completely doable if you really try, but it's hard knowing that the answer can be just a click away, currently checking if I've missed anything secret before finishing the game. Oh and tutorials are kind of everywhere for every rule the only thing you have to do is understand the rules which is kind of the purpose of the game, since there's almost no narrative, to figure stuff out for yourself from different perspectives literally under different perspectives in some occassions.

the game is diffidently worth the $40, its so long for a indie game and doing it yourself will be worth it from what I understand. I do hope to get this game myself in the near future so right now I'm just watching this for now because I know that by the time I get this game I won't be able to remember the solutions.

Value is subjective - but i did not love this puzzle game as much as i did others. I say wait for a huge sale. We can rate puzzle quality - frustration - graphics/aesthetics - story/plot - sound. Sound in this game - as you mentioned before - is almost non-existent. Some walkign sound effects etc, but nothing I took note of... So i turned sound off, (playing at night with young ones). And a few puzzles then required sound but didn't indicate it (hedge)! That's a huge negative to me, it wasn't until i did some puzzles with the speakers visible (making bird sounds), that i realized sound could be part of the game, but i already banged my head against it earlier, so it was a negative. Sound is very big for a puzzle game in my opinion, (music and/or sound effects), as some puzzle games like Lumines it literally makes the game, I felt the same about the soundtrack in AER; and some walking simulators it can literally make the spooky atmosphere. This game missed a good soundtrack! i will also say games like Portal and Talos Principal had great audio journals, these were the weakest voice actors and lamest selections of audio logs ever; did a single player care about picking a single one of them up? i didn't.... Speaking of going to the "sound puzzles" in the wrong order -- a huge negative here for me was the "feeling" of being open world when i first started; you walk out not knowing where to go - you choose where you want to go. But realistically unless you go in the correct order, like a Megaman game, you haven't actually learned many skills necessary for future puzzles. Is this open ended or just poor design that forces backtracking if you didn't choose the correct path? A negative for me. -- You say you spent 75-100 hours? Yeah because its overly complicated and forces back tracking. Id rather spend 30 hours on some cleaver fun puzzles... So -- puzzle difficulty - you said it yourself, you made the gosh darn platinum guide, and even you didn't even know how you solved some (even after you just blundered into the solution); and had to look some others up. Is this game genius simply because its obtuse - no Id say a good 25% of the puzzles just aren't fun puzzles... Someone else mentioned Portal 2 - great example! That game I had to look up a few puzzles sure, but not 80% of them, and they all made sense when i saw solution. Fez maybe the one game where I just bashed my head, but again something there made it okay, here I was just angry. Speaking of Portal 2, lets jump to story. Minimal characters in portal 2 (world has ended?), but the few robots and recordings make it hilarious! If I was stuck on a puzzle, it was okay, I still wanted to get through to see what happened next! Same with Talos Principal. Such a good story all the way through! here, even if the ending pays off (I'm about to go to mountain like your guide), i could care less about the plot or the island, and I'm only still playing to get the trophy. I haven't done that in a puzzle game since bridge builder... i see the neat perspective statues. And maybe I'm missing some great narrative because Im not smart enough? But the story stinks! Lastly aesthetics. Last year i heard people talk about how pretty the game was. And for a small team, yeah it looks great. But so do many other games. (Portal and Talos Principal for examples). Bound, AER, many games look like this. Its pretty, and the perspective stuff can be neat, nice use of bold color. But yeah, it doesn't hold me in this game. I would recommend this game - a woman at work likes puzzles and such, she likes Zelda so i suggested Oceanhorn, Talos Principal, Portal 2, Fez. She played them all and loved it. I did suggest this game to her as well, but I told her to wait until it was cheaper. She'd probably be better of with Unfinished Swan or something like that. Its worth $40 if you WANT to finish it i guess is what my review would be? I didn't want to finish it but saw the platinum wasn't hard with your guide....

I like puzzle games but I would of never payed $40 for this game.. Luckily it was free on playstation plus.. This game makes me feel so dumb tho.. I try to solve the puzzles on my own but when I get stuck I watch your walkthrough.. Thank you!

ya this is the part i believe the game went fucking downhill coz none of the puzzle make sense. like all of a sudden two stars alone, whereas first it was one star and same color

some of the puzzles doesnt make sense when doing in a sequence. they just fucking changed the rules. the purple bridge changes its own fucking rule from having two oranges to four oranges in the same area.

I noticed in his walkthroughs in places where I've been stuck in needed help, these are only good for doing mainly just what you need to do to activate the lasers. He doesn't cover environmental puzzles in these walkthroughs

+deshauntheillest Stars need to be in pairs with anything that has its same color, either if it's with another star or anything else as long as it has the same color, there's no problem if they are grouped with something with a different color as well. Also there cannot be a third thing with the same color in the same group as the star, if for example that green square would've been pink as well it wouldn´t had worked.However squares cannot be in the same group with any different color square so if one of the pink stars would've been a pink square, it wouldn't have been right either because it conflicts with the condition of the squares even though the star is cool with it.

This game is bullsh*t sometimes... it changes logic mid puzzles. I wanted to complete the game by myself and managed to do a considerable amount of puzzles without a guide but when I realized the bs logic behind some puzzles (like for ex, not explaining properly that you can pair a square with a star of the same color or the terrible logic for what the triangle means) its when I gave up and looked for guides just to beat the game. Yes, its cheating and I felt I accomplished nothing but idgaf. Braid was smart cause its puzzles always followed a logic. Some of the puzzles in the witness are more about guessing the logic than properly explaining it. F*ck it

To trophy hunters: Listen to my April 2020 Pro-tips - You will remain at 91% and never get the Platinum trophy due to the most stupid trophy "Challenge" I have ever seen, which requires you to solve 14 (if I count correctly) hard RANDOM puzzles in around 6 minutes, which will definitely be your last outstanding trophy forever. Trophy hunters, STOP NOW and play some word puzzles or Foxyland. This game sucks trophy-wise.
