I love the shrouded mystery based around the nine it gives you interpretation on who they could of been. They might have been tragic or evil, even khamul who’s the only known member is still mysterious.

It would be interesting to learn if their “physical forms” changed depending on how strong/powerful Sauron was at any given time

No they didn't......they were men corrupted and when they died, Sauron also known as the necromancer in the hobbit brought their spirits back .... the wraiths are more connected to the ring itself as they can sense its power

How often are we corrupted by thoughts and visions of power and never escape to become as great a person as we could. There are so many layers from this book, humanity the Bible and Christendom. Such an interesting web of story telling

There's a lot of possibilites. He may have been a very powerful black numenorian warrior and / or sorceror, or may have even been of regal and royal blood; Perhaps a Numenorian prince, or even Tar-Ciryatan or Tar-Antanamir. These were two kings who ruled numenor in the centuries immediately before the Nazgul first appeared. We do know that Tar Ciryatan fought and defeated the forces of the dark lord, before he became king. Whether he ever encountered the Dark lord himself is anyone's guess. Not particularly likely, but not impossible.

He may well have been a great king of Men even before he was the Whitch king but a King of men in Middle Earth who was Numenorean.

He is a character Amazon will destroy.

You are probably 100% right about that

He really could not be a King of Numenor. There was only one king of Numenor at a time. Ar Pharazon( depicted in Rings of Power TV Series and in the books is the last King of Numenor and he left with the Numenorean Fleet to attack Valinor and was imprisoned until the end of the world along with the rest of his fleet. So the Witch King probably is a mighty lord of Numenor and probably like Isildur, Anarion and Elendil of the Royal Line but not a King.
