The first 4 seasons of The Wire can be summed up as "Omar don't scare."
@DontNeedToKnow8411 жыл бұрын
Season 1 of The Wire was EPIC! I remember 3 or 4 episodes into it & I felt like I had been watching it for years (& this was after I split those episodes in 2 nights!). Season 2, OTOH, has taken too long to build up. I'm 4 episodes in and I just don't feel the "Holy shit, this is so freaking amazing" feeling I felt with Season 1. The political intrigue, the interdepartmental struggles, the gritty portrayal of project life, the organization of the detail, everything made it so much more amazing.

I have to admit it took me four episodes to finally like this show. First episode I thought it was kinda good but didn't go anywhere. My dad reckoned it was better than the shield. Being young I found it hard to understand as it was a more realistic show. But I trusted my dad. I never wanted to give up easy and eventually the characters drawed me in. As I watch the show more particularly as it exapands to more characters this the best show ever. Way better than the sopranos in my opinion.

Unfortunately many fans of Breaking Bad (including myself) were very young when The Wire was being aired. Breaking Bad was overrated during its air. I love The Wire and The Shield, but...IMHO they are both bettered by Hill Street Blues - the grittiest and realistic cop drama ever. The dark humour and intelligent dialogue (by Deadwood's writer David Milch) were incredible. Every episode had you laughing, crying and feeling disturbed by how low humans can be. It didn't shy away from anything and was uncomfortable viewing at times as well as creating fantastic but flawed characters. It won 26 Emmy awards (98 nominated) and won FOUR consecutive wins for Outstanding Drama Series. I urge anyone who likes the The Wire to give it a go.

😵 If Avon hadn't of said anything Stringer was really gonna let the muscle split up the bag money less than a week after Orlando was beggin to get his bond. Wtf kinda gangsta does any of that goofy ish? You definitely dont burn it. Get it into your enemies hand. Let evil do the devils work.

I just discovered this show and just finished season 1. Watching this recap before starting season 2 tonight. Life is good
This series is addictive as hell! I caught a few episodes from season 2 and it sucked me in. Next thing I know, I was at the video store picking up the all the seasons series! Love a show that has good story and chemistry of the characters! If you can watch a few episodes of the 1st season and not want to see more is beyond me. Damn good show!

14 years ago, what a time to be alive. I was 20 years old and having the time of my life. No such thing as Netflix and chill then 😂. I wonder in 14 years time will Netflix still exist or disappear just like video stores did. If someone in the future sees this comment plz reply 😊.
But wheres bubbs? One of the best characters along with omar and string
Just started watching this don't know why I waited so long such a good show 👌👌

This was an excellent recap.
one of the greatest and definitely the most underrated show of all-time. I am only on Season 2 and I am hooked.
Only ever watched season 1 game here for a recap before I start season 2 today
Dope dope dope fuckin show, love watchin these recaps
Omar's laugh is always epic.
The first 4 seasons of The Wire can be summed up as "Omar don't scare."

People feel bad for Bodie at the end but they forget that he dropped Wallace. There's no protagonist or an antagonist in this show. What a great show!

seeing these comments from 16 years ago is crazy man
One of the best shows ever
loved omar... out of many scenes one of my favorites is the FBI's profile on Mc'nulty's 'biter killer'... a classic scene.. Whats yours???.....
The best vice show of the 2k era hands down. 80's was Miami & 2 K was B-more.
Let me hear someone say that Season 2 was the best season. Season 1 was classic TV.

this season was the best...i bought the whole 5 season. bout to watch season 2
Only watched the first season back in the day, gonna ho back in and give the rest of it a try, I know its a really good show just haven't had the chance to finish it, hoping it gets really good, need a new binge.
dis make me wanna go buy season one cause i have only watched season 2
So the detectives didn't give a damm about wallace dying. Real life sht right there ! Moral of the story is NEVER cooperate with POEleese
good edit
Good clean clip.
the thing about the wire is every season is like a novel, with each episode being a chapter. lots is happening now that will become significant later. by the end of the first season your mind will be blown
Yall need to hear the "Way down in the hole" podcast
The best season
Good editing.
This is THE best show ever.
The GREATEST!!! Show ever...
Great series
Thank you.
Nicely done
nice recap! yo virgo, u betta get the season 1. mos def doper than season 2.
Nice one. Season 2 starts tonight on BBC2. We are wayyyy behind the rest of the world with our antiquated terrestrial tv!
nah this is the best show i tell u
that's how i felt about the wire and sopranos. if those were just hour and a half long movies... it would never be the same thing.
Yo, Omar comin'!!! Omar, Omar!
I know I’m late but season one was amazing I’m on episode 2 season 2 rn

Could have at least put the bubbles red hot scene in... how do you have highlights of season 1 of The wire without one clip of bubs? He's very important character.. he's the number one informant and he has one of the highest character developments of the whole series.. he was a drug addict an episode one and he was a clean sponsor on the last episode..
greatest show ever!
Way better than the sopranos in my opinion.

still the best season.

Eric o sullivan Former Breaking Bad fan here. Breaking Bad is very cheesy compared to The Wire. It's just another show about a middle-aged white man. Unfortunately many fans of Breaking Bad (including myself) were very young when The Wire was being aired. Breaking Bad was overrated during its air. Sorry if the last line was especially offensive but that's how I see it.
That's it. I'm watching this show again
Just one question: how the fuck can you not like this show?!

Bubbles!!! Expected him to be shot or beaten up at any point....randomly or otherwise.....
Love love love
Avon was super man That was where that meme came from lol
Best advise I can give anyone who wants to rewatch this or even view the series for the first time. Put closed captions on. The writing in this is so deep its unreal the things you miss the first....second....or hundredth time watching it. And btw i just farted.

seasons 1,3,-5are the best but it all ties together in season 4. the wire is raw, real & true each season has u feenin 4 more
I was pretty sad after the the last episode of season 5... There will never be another series to top this..
I just realized, that Poot is the on that noticed Omar's boy. Poot would have been killed if Stringer thought it was him, when he was tying up loose ends.
@mattwell7236
6 жыл бұрын
He knew Poot was there when they spotted him. He gave him $500 when he came down to the pit for the look out. He killed Wallace because he disappeared to his gmas and came back wanting back in the game. Stinger thought Wallace was working with the feds plus Wallace had became an addict. Poot was solid.
season 1 was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
His name on the show is Wallace; his real name is Michael B. Jordan; often goes by Mike B.

did stringer set up Avon all through out later come to find out stringer is an informant smh
thanks for vid, i'm in uk and they showed the wire season1-5 on bbc last year,i recorded them all only for season 1 and 2 to get scrubbed by accident. does anyone know where i can watch them all again (full episodes)
he was ready to snitch, especially after he found out about what happened to wallace, but his mom convinced him to stay quite since avon was family.
McNulty you fool ,say a the pawn shop unit!
Easily the best season.
if you google "the best show ever" The Wire comes up. True story!

A more modern day Hill Street Blues would have to be made to touch the Wire and or the Sparanos.
'I don't see Barksdale name anywhere'
wallaceeeeeeee :(
Didn’t even know that Wallace snitched... smfh
@acountddd yeah i agree about the slow burn part. maybe if i had to watch one episode a week i might thought it was a bit boring too but when you have every episode in front of you and watch 2 or 3 a day, it becomes more additive then that shit they sling in them towers.
All of them a essential. Without the different aspects there isn't the game.
Prop joe had to die he was playing a nasty game!
Imma tell yall something, the cops was just as dirty as any street player...ok, remember the last interrogation of d'angelo, when he was like "i want, what wallace want?" mcnulty played a convo betw poot and another chicc where poot explains how wallace been trippin lately. well, that tape should not have played because the first 10 secs was irrelevent to the case, and according the man who played the tape itself, mcnulty, it shouldve been discarded. "non perdinent."
