THE WIRE: "Omar in Jail" (Edited) excerpts from THE WIRE Season 4 (with english subs)

Ойын-сауық

THE WIRE "Omar in Jail" (my edit) - Edited together all the scenes of Omar in jail (Season 4). This fascinating story line includes an assassination attempt on Omar by someone hoping to collect a bounty. Originally these scenes were shown interwoven with other stories. To show how captivating this Omar In Jail storyline is I wanted to edit all the scenes together.
Like many a fan of THE WIRE, Omar was my favorite character, like many fans of The Wire most famously, President Obama, who was a big fan of both Omar and the late great Michael K Williams (RIP).
What struck me about the first of these scenes is its about the ONLY time in THE WIRE that Omar is shown even a tiny bit afraid or less than 100% sure of himself. Because now in lockup, Omar is seeing many of those who had looked down the end of his shotgun, dealers or others he had ripped off in the past. Omar knows that he's a walking target and that theres a large price on his head.
Two huge scary guys who he thinks for a second are there to get him (great casting!) fortunately turn out to be two "bodyguards" arranged by Omar's friend Butchie. A nice touch is the prison body armor, of thick maps taped to Omar's body to protect him against a shiv. They worked too! And yes, in case you're wondering where Omar sunk his shiv into the guy who tried to kill him, you guessed correctly, where the sun don't shine. "Omar sending a message y'all". Brilliant acting as always from the immensely talented Michael K. Williams as Omar. Sir: know that your brilliant and multifaceted portrayal of the character Omar, was one of the most complex and interesting characters ever portrayed on a TV series,
If you have not seen THE WIRE.... get on it!
Notes:
*One of the bodyguards is actually one of the real-life Baltimore stickup guys who the character of Omar was actually based on (Donnie Andrews, "in on a 5-22").

'bad-mouthing a police officer' - since when is that against the law in USA? I took 'talking back' to be a contempt of court charge, but I don't know what a 22-55 is, and I am pretty sure it is not a type of firearm cartriidge

@@wilsonblauheuer6544 Police have always abused their power in the U.S. This, combined with the hero complex they develop...as well as their deification by media and middle-class society, makes popping off at a police officer an offense... ...it's not one you can be jailed over...but you can be detained which may come with fees. A "22-55" is police code for such behavior. TL;DR: Cops are dicks...and, in the U.S., they're bigger dicks.

Now it feels when you watch the show fully that Omar is in jail, and you see a lot more. But in fact it's just 5 minutes all in all. Fantastic. And Omar is the coolest character in TV history as far as I'm concerned. Up there with the Fonz.. he's THAT important.

When TV Omar met the real life Omar aka Donnie Andrews whose exploits were dramatized on the Wire. In the episode where Omar jumped from a 4th floor apartment escaping Snoop and Chris, Donnie jumped from a sixth floor but with less injuries.

@Rusty Shackleford At least someone said it. Omar is a very cartoonish character, it's not realistic at all, even if it's based on a real character. There's no way you limp your way around the hood robbing gangsters and exiting the scene slower than my grandma and you get away with it all the time either.

@@hfvales I heard the stories are pretty similar to real stories, but he didn't last that long doing it, it was more like a 4-5 months thing. Obviously not that slow and calm, but without a mask on, which is what made him famous
