Freedom was one of my favorites cause he was the only one who knew where to find a Picture of Avon and without that they would be lost

Colvin sacrificed his career for Hamsterdam . pressured by the statistic driven direction of Rawls his solution for numbers worked in more ways than he thought. It's the basis for decriminalizing drugs as the so called war, interdiction, incarceration is a failure. The analytics was proving that it works. My favorite in this theme is Bunk - giving Omar the got to have a code speech then pressuring Kima to sign the statement that would put someone away.

Herk and Carv went in opposite directions eventually. Carv grew in skill and integrity and Herk just tanked into misrepresentation,

Officer Walker has GOT to go! He has GOT to be got! I was hoping that he would also be pelted with piss balloons after getting doused with the yellow paint. Bad man. Bunny: his intention was right but he effectively legalized drugs. Herc and Carver (and God knows who else) had no business skimming the cash from drug busts - that money is made off the misery of others and they betrayed their oaths as police officers.

Bunny he wasn’t dirty tbh. He was tired and he was going to retire soon no matter what. So he took a risk to help the civilian community. Instead of waiting for the bureaucratic bs he took charge remember he grew up out there. He knew all the drug dealers and gangsters from a young age. So he saw his home being destroyed and no one cared to change it. He has seen so many drug task force fail. They tried targeting the users didn’t work then the small dealers didn’t work. Then the suppliers an it didn’t work. He knew that they couldn’t arrest everyone. And that the only way to end violence was decriminalization in his way. An it worked but people didn’t see the vision.

Simple; any officer that purposely breaks the law themselves. Or any officer that knowingly works to conceal their breaking of the law.

Bunny was "innovative," definitely not dirty.

Colichio was an angry, abusive hothead who was way too into his role as a “warrior” in the drug war.

Bunny had spent an entire career “raking leaves on a windy day” as far as trying to fight the drug war. It got him and the community nowhere. He was a few months from retirement and the brass wanted crime stats down so trying to change the culture of the department as far as how it allocated so much time and manpower fighting a losing war doesn’t make him a bad cop.

The opening scene is great with context. Because Herc and carver got accused of stealing. When they were innocent. So the next time they were in that situation they took advantage of. Damned if you do damned if you dont. The difference between carver and herc is that carver got promoted and became a better cop. He became good police once he realized that he had peoples lives and career in his hands. So the transformation from being mediocre at best, to good police an actually became less selfish and thought of others. Carvers dirty no doubt but changed. In the wire everything comes ful circle. His career will mirror Daniel’s did bad things but changed and tried to help.

It's a good thing I'm not a cop. Or else I'd steal the drug money and set up a secret fund for my neighbors or victims of violence in my neighborhood. But that's just me.

What's wrong with taking drug money? That's a bonus of the job.

You will be tempted by large unknown amounts of cash, especially if you don't get paid a lot. It's natural.
