Three prequels to The Wire. They depict the first meeting between McNulty and Bunk; Proposition Joe as a slick business kid; and young Omar.

I think the kid's constant use of the word proposition is meant, not to show us who he is, but to show us how he earned his nickname. Even if Joe was known for making deals it seems unlikely that a dealer from the projects would earn the name "Proposition Joe" unless he frequently used that word himself. For a kid like that clearly trying to act older than he is, it makes sense that he would overuse the word as he tries to pass himself off as a young business man (as he also refers to himself).
@jammin023

He uses the word as an adult in the main series too, it's obviously a bit of a catchphrase for him as well as his modus operandi, but it's funny to hear him doing it as a kid.

My friends think I’m so weird until they inevitably sit down just one time and call me when they get home to tell me how obsessed they are with it thanks to me. This is literally art in its purest form, I truly wish there was more to watch but at the same time I genuinely feel like the length of the show was absolutely done perfectly and the way it leaves off truly magnifies exactly how endless the war on drugs will ALWAYS be.

Five struggled a bit for a couple reasons. One, Ed Burns had quit at the end of season 4. Two, Season 5 didn't get as many episodes as Simon originally wanted, forcing him to drop certain scene he wanted to add in, like one where Randy was revealed to be Cheese's son. It's not that it's bad, it's just that it had an uphill battle from the start.

The prequels are fun, but you can tell they weren't made by david simon or the main creators. The omar and prop joe scenes were stupid but fun. The Mcnulty and Bunk one, however, is awesome (probably because the real actors played the characters, not kids)!
@ChrisThorne19
6 жыл бұрын
The Omar one wasn't stupid. It gives off a fuck load of back story that David Simon created. We had only heard of his brother "no heart" Anthony, and that one incident in particular. Other than that, nothing about Omar that we knew that went back before the show started. This shows where he got his ideas of robbing dealers. He never wanted to rob working stiffs, because they never deserved it. He knew it was so wrong that he pulled a gun on his brother to give the cash back. If Omar is willing to stick a gun to his own kin's head just to do the right thing, then that says everything about the man that we never would've known otherwise. He's a hood saint.
@weaselsdawg
6 жыл бұрын
Chris You do know it though because his motives throughout the series are hurting those that have already hurt others. It's unnecessary back story which spoon feeds the viewer in a way that The Wire wouldn't. In my opinion it would take away from the strength of Omar as a character if it were a part of the main series.

I thought No Heart was Omar's brother, maybe I'm mistaking. Marlo Chris and Snoop were way to young to have background stories, hell there weren't even in their 20's, ok maybe early 20's. +Zamolxes77 yea No Heart Anthony was Omar's brother.. Plus a background story doesn't have to start in those timelines, I'm just saying I wanted to see more on Marlo, Chris and Snoop- like how they rose to power, I almost have a feeling that Chris was in the military too.. Snoop was just like Michael, she was just somebody he thought had potential.. Marlo's story would be nice to see due to the detectives saying he's the devil.. But, true- it would be good to see a story about the hustlers Prop Joe was talking about as well- and the police officer that influenced Gregs- along with the reporters the news paper was speaking on..

Notice how the way omar asked questions about the people he hit up even as a kid in a simple robbery Micheal did too in running with snoop and chris...man i wish there was just 1 more final season
Ah, I miss that chemistry between Bunk and McNulty.
@jammin023

@ChrisThorne19
@weaselsdawg
6 жыл бұрын
Chris You do know it though because his motives throughout the series are hurting those that have already hurt others. It's unnecessary back story which spoon feeds the viewer in a way that The Wire wouldn't. In my opinion it would take away from the strength of Omar as a character if it were a part of the main series.
