Very well said. Marshall amplifiers became what they became sonically specifically because Pete could not compete with Keith Moon with what he had and asked Jim Marshall to hook him up with gear that could. The famous "full stack" configuration came about because before that, the company produced a single 8x12" cab for Townsend's use but the roadies rebelled. :) Pete said that when you cranked that amp it sounded like a "symphony."

This was such a powerful show - there's just something about a real band with a great catalog of songs really playing them. The only thing that disappoints me about this and subsequent Who outings is having turned it into the Pete and Roger show with Zak and the bassist (I guess Piño?) left in darkness and very little camera time. That's not the Who spirit to me. They didn't treat Kenney Jones or Simon Phillips that way but after John died, everyone but Roger and Pete have been treated like nonentities.

Bruce Springsteen 4 times but a couple of his shows were at different places but right next to the spectrum. ZZ TOP AND I HAD TICKETS TO SEE LED ZEPPELIN. At JFK stadium in south Philly. But Robert plants son died never got to see them but I never thought they were as good as a lot of people thought. But THE WHO IS THE GREATEST ROCK BAND OF ALL TIME.

Couldn't agree more! Seen them 4 times now, the last time was in Berlin 20th June 2023, so a week and a bit ago, and they were brilliant! Our younger daughter lives in Berlin, so we combined a visit to see her, with the concert. Our daughter said afterwards that she knew every single word of the Quadrophenia excerpts, because when I used to drive her and her sister to school "Quadrophenia was the only thing you played in the car!" 😀- Brainwashing does work 😂😂👏👏

since 1969 - one of my favorite bands, excellent musicians
The drummer is awesome, it's Zak Starkey! Two famous drummer teach him drumming as a kid, his dad (Ringo Starr) and his dad very good friend (Keith Moon).
Wow... Enormous positive energy! ❤️
Fantastic Who ! Still there and at the top after all these years ! An outstanding performance !
Zak is by far the best drummer they've had since we lost Keith. Nobody else has been able to nail it just right... Zak does. Dude is a crazy talented drummer!

@@guitar.forbeginners.withdave I like all the post-Moon drummers in the Who but I was a Simon fan long before his time with the band so his presence was special to me. I just wish they hadn't started pushing bassists and drummers into the darkness like sidemen after John died.

@@bobhope3716 He was definitely the *most capable* drummer they ever had but I can see where people might think Simon was just too much. I was a big Simon fan long before his time with the Who and knew of his playing on Pete solo albums (his performance on "Give Blood" from WHITE CITY was drumming goalz for me back in the day).
I have seen them many times over the years but this was very special, keep rockin boys.
The fact that they can still rock out live like this is amazing, sure, they could just lip sync but somehow the realness of this makes this even more awesome!

Zak Starkey is one lucky guy. He drums for The Who and his father is Ringo Starr! Plus he’s a good drummer talented in his own right. I like how he plays and sounds. Now this was a halftime show! 🎉😮
In case you didn't know, Zak is Ringo's son and was taught to drum from non other than his uncle Keith Moon.

El refrán es cierto " los viejos rockeros nunca mueren " y que siga así 👍👍👍👍
Mi banda favorita.
Danke.fürs. Senden
I have seen THE WHO 5 TIME'S going back to the 70s. I was born and raised in north Philly. Being a teenager and living in Philadelphia pa. Back in the 60s and 70s and having the great spectrum to see these rock bands. I saw a lot of the greatest rock bands. Aerosmith 2 times in the early 70s. Bob seger Black Sabbath with Ozzy. But THE WHO IS THE GREATEST ROCK BAND OF ALL TIME.
no lip synking here lol best rock band ever
Fantastic visual effects thank you

Kinda cool... Getting to see a geezer Townshend boogie across the stage!
I can remember seeing them at the Cotton Bowl around 1982 on their farewell tour with Kenny Jones on drums. THAT was a show man.
Zak channeling Keith, love the Mod cymbals.

Best half time show compared to what has been in the last 10 years.
Rodger had been recovering from throat surgery. His voice was weak but still good. Saw them a year ago and much better. Very strong. Both of them! And Zac was just great. Even Simon Townsend was on board and made the whole show a incredible experience. I felt like I was seeing The Who 50 years ago!

Still remember seeing them for the Who '82 farewell concert (first of many "farewells", lol). I (vaguely) remember the massive party at Lamport Stadium in Toronto the night before the tickets went on sale. We had bonfires on the grass, cops and firemen everywhere. The overnight party was as good as the concert!
