In 1976 i saw my first rock concert, in Oklahoma City. We camped out in 20 degree F weather for tickets. Fortunately, I was wearing my "US Army Overcoat, Trench" over my hoodie. Without the numbing effects of weed, we likely would have died. But it was worth it. The Who. $7.50 for a ticket. When they played this song, i was blown away. Roger on harmonica in lieu of the violin solo. And of course, the show ended with "Won't Get Fooled Again." No encore. That was it. They played for two solid hours, and no song after that could surpass it, so we left, totally satisfied. Over four decades later, i cannot say that i ever have seen a better show.

Timeless music, each a master of the craft of rock and roll!

I saw this in 79 when it first came out. I was 15. Entwistle's tone changed my life. The first 3 notes he played blew me out of the theater 3 blocks over. The skid marks on my butt cheeks are still there to this day..

Holy crap I had forgotten how great this was! 69 and still amazes!

I love watching John standing there playing basically giving off the vibe of "bitch, i'm flawless"

The amount of energy in Pete Townshend's performance is absolutely mind blowing! This is The Who's best performance of this song!

Bonham was the best, by far!!! Also, I love Moon, but in his prime Mr. Peter Criss was fuckin amazing, different type of drummer, Peter had the jungle rhythm and jazz filled riffs, but a legend just the same!!!

A beautiful Saturday morning in January 2008, I was studying in the Boalt Hall library at UC Berkeley. A dorm across the street wheeled out a huge speaker on the front lawn and blasted this song. That moment stayed with me.

Probably the best live performances of this song ever filmed, amazing.

Was 6 rows from the stage during the 1975 tour (I was 14) with my brothers and it was like a wave of sound enveloping every part of your body. It took me months to get my hearing back. My parents would yell at me for not listening.

82- same. You can wax poetic about it but its hard for people you are telling to get it. I might make the analogy between a normal day at the beach body surfing with biggish wave’s you could just duck or jump over being a loud concert, and a day after a hurricane body surfing fighting tremendous undertoetripping you and having many waves flatten you to the sandbar then an insane rouge wavefliping you three or four timesfoot over neck with sand in your mouth and a follow up wave smacking you before you draw breath being like the Who loud

Saw the ‘75 tour as well, once they really warmed up and got to the Tommy medley, it was like facing a hurricane, almost as if a mighty wind was blowing through the building…. Tight, and crushingly loud. You could feel the sonic wave pushing against your face. I only saw and felt that twice… once during that Who show, and at a Zeppelin show during Kashmir.

I saw them thanksgiving 75 in Hampton Va. Townsend came out and bounced his guitar off his thigh...sounded like thunder. They were soo loud, it was just you and them and nothing else.

What a song. And how he sang! .. Roger Daltrey of course.

I concur, that this is Theee Best rendition of Baba O'riley ! Keith will have been gone 45 years come September 17th 2023. I was in High School when we heard the news...was a sad day. One can only imagine what the conversation was with St. Peter at the Pearly Gates that day :) RIP To Moon the Loon !I

They are a Mod band.If you see people with Parkers on riding on Vespas and also wearing Italian like suits The Who would be their seminal rock band.

God this video makes me laugh every time. Townsend beating the crap out of the tambourine, shaking his ass, jumping around crazy. And then there's John's right hand....just brilliant.

Nobody will ever do a show like that ..this world can disappear 🧨

Great performance from a band second to none when seen Live! This had to be around the time I first saw them in concert and immediately got hooked on their stage presence. Only saw them twice with Keith Moon but have seen them more than a dozen times since.

I'm always amazed by every The Who video I watch that has John playing bass. He gets a wall of sound from the thing, has some decently difficult bass lines, and almost looks like he's putting no effort into playing. Ridiculous amount of talent.

Cool John the mighty counterbalance to the frenetic fury of Pete . Keith is amazingly sedate .

You only need to hear the first few notes of any of their music, and you can immediately identify The Who -the sound was distinct, and they were truly great

Behind all that glitz from Ms. Daltrey,Townshend and Moon is a 120-decibel base from Mr.Entwhistle that actually shakes my room. Yay for him.

One of the greatest Rock & Roll bands of all time. I've seen them live 5 times. They came to Vancouver on their Farewell Tour in Oct. 96. A bunch of my employees were too young to have a clue. I took them all to the show, 14 of them. They kissed the ground that I walked on Monday morning. *L*

Only band I've seen in concert (not a big fan of crowded places but it was worth it to see my favorite band). This was up in Anderson, Indiana in May 2019. The part that blew me away most was Roger nailing the vocal on "Love, Reign O'er Me"--a difficult vocal even back in his prime.

No doubt, this is possibly the best live performance ever? Definitely, one of them, I love these guys, Kiss, Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, and The Eagles!!!! My personal favorites!!! AC/DC and Motorhead are a distant second!!!! Lol

Definitely one of the best live performances ever!!! These guys, Zeppelin and the original lineup Kiss obviously with Peter and Ace were amazing and fantastic and my favorites!!! Listening to this masterpiece and Black Diamond live by Kiss and Peter and Ace shined like a mother fucker, so did these guys!!!

John's bass was so overlooked by the average listener !!! The chords vibrate my ear drums. A bassist that would IMO out play Getty Lee if he were alive today. And Pete gets to enjoy himself in this one ... what a true pleasure.

As a fan of both, they were good at different things. The complex structures and time signatures changes of Rush songs might have been a challenge for Entwistle, it wasn't something he was used to. Chris Squire from Yes is another great one from that time period.

They have many great songs, but this is my absolute favorite!!!! Peter Chris and Keith Moon are my favorite drummers ever!!! And, Mr. Frankie Banalli god rest his soul 🙏!!!
