So an update on the mute puck rule - I just got clarification that they won't be doing it. Here are the official rules regarding it: • The active player has the right to request quiet so they can think and make decisions. • The active player may request anyone at the table to stop talking and stop initiating trades. • Other players must respect this request. • This does not carry over from turn to turn.

Wow, mute puck sounds like an absolutely horrible rule. I realize that people can be annoying, but there has to be a better solution.

I feel like a way to make the mute puck more fair is make it a 30 second mute. Gives you some time to argue your case but still gives the table talker an opportunity to rebuttal

1. Dice cup. 2. Increase table spacing or add dividers between game tables. 3. Instead of die roll, have cards numbered 1-4. 4. Probably no way around this. 5. If it is that bad, then probably all communication is limited to trade offers, yes, and no; no commentaries or advice allowed. If you are going to limit talk, might as well limit all talk.

What happens if you ignore a mute puck? DQ seems harsh but if it's only in-game penalties then there's no reason to not ignore it to prevent a game winning trade right?

Even if there’s no regulation, you suffer in game. People would hate that and become unwilling to trade with you or listen to you.

Needs to be a rule that anyone talking over others can have that disputed / talked about with tournament staff. There is no reason to mute anyone else.

Do they not still do 4 prelim rounds at Nationals? Last time I competed it was 4 rounds, and you played one game at each position 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. My seating position ended up being my score in each match lol.

Nope they changed it recently it's only 3 rounds of prelim so 25% of the field doesn't get to pick from the 1st spot.

The whole dice tilt question is a joke. We know what the result is by reading the number in the opposite side of the dice from which it is supported. In 99.999% of cases that is a single side. The tilt does not in fact confuse the result at all. The rule should just be ignored.

On out national championship we have really weird rules 1) We play 4 rounds in one day and winner is person with most wins 2) We had rule that first three rounds 7 is not in game so you had to reroll it 3) You can’t do future trades, promises and things like that

I don’t think highest dice should get to pick when to place. Yes picking is an element of skill but at a highly skilled table you’re rewarding the highest roll with the best pick 99% because they got lucky, but if order is set by dice then at least there’s more variance as you’re not always hoping for highest roll
