In the Midge story, I feel like OP shows she is a good cat owner simply by the fact that she requested help with Midge when she recognized that she was working a lot. She looked to family members who she thought she could trust; that is extremely responsible and thoughtful. I'm glad it all worked out.

I have 4 cats and work 40 hr weeks, my cats are fine at home during the weekdays I'm at work. OP is such a good cat owner and did more than I do. I honestly feel really bad for her because this situation is ridiculous. Edit: The cousin is a teenager so goes to school during the day. How does she have more time to take care of the cat than the OP. The parents probably work too, so the cat is going to be left alone no matter what. The cousin I guess had time to go over and cat sit because its summer vacation?

@@KrazyKatLady She is in college and has a job. Her hours are probably all over the fricken place and maybe she just had really long stretches in her week where she wouldn't be home where the cousin could check in. Either way it was an above and beyond level of care for a cat. As long as there is enough food out and a clean litter box, you can leave a cat for 12-24 hours without worry. It's one of the awesome parts of owning a cat, unlike a dog they don't need to completely dominate your schedule.

I think the cat being under a year, being the only cat in the house, if it's anything like my cat she needs to interact with me and run around with toys or else she'll start meowing at 3am.

My husband is autistic and didn't realize someone was flirting with him, and afterward, I literally made a point to tell him that she was flirting so that he would get the well-deserved ego boost.

I was also a pet sitter for a family friend, and no matter how much I loved their animals, they weren't mine and I could just ask to see them also seriously if someone took MY cats I would be behind bars because I regard my cats as my children

He wanted them in the closet, so people wouldn't see them when they come visit and his breaking point was when a FRIEND saw them. Just really seems like he couldn't comprehend that someone has different interests than him and only saw it as a strange thing to keep in your house. (I'm so angry at these stories though because I've always defended my partners interests even when I didn't care for them. Yeah like op had trust in the cousin to help her take care of the cat and she broke that trust. If op had known the cousin would do that from the start she would've just gotten someone else to do it. I don't have dolls like that but I do have teddies/stuffed toys that are mine/my dad's, and some of them are very special since my mum got them for me while she was still alive - I also have odd little things like my mum's last perfume bottle that still has a bit in. If someone got rid of any of them, I'd simply have to never ever see them again for fear of what I might do to them. It's such a gross overstepping of boundaries and extremely disrespectful. Getting rid of someone's belongings is bad enough; getting rid of someone's belongings with that much sentimental value is unforgivable.

It's healthy and cheap, like why get unhealthy expensive stuff you otherwise wouldn't get just because you're outside and hungry and it's considered "normal". I actually got an idea from this - to freeze cucumber slices, put them in a tupperware-like box and eati them in the summer when it's hot; would be an awesome idea to stay hydrated and have a healthy snack

@@xLostInFirex I really think it's just dependent on where you're going. Taking a snack on a walk, or to the beach, or an amusement park... Anywhere you might not have easy access to food should be normal. But, hiding out in a room alone at someone else's house just so you can eat a whole cucumber is absolutely weird and no amount of explaining would convince me otherwise. Hiding it makes it something weird.

I really appreciated Damien's insights about the pregnancy fetish icky feeling. I had a similar reaponse, but I've tried to really work on "not yucking anyones yum." When he took issue with making bystandards unwitting participants in your kink (im paraphrasing, if its wrong, correct me) that helped me to articulate a feeling Ive been having for a while. Its like my brainspace fits togerher that much better.

the back and forth on the cat story on "but what if she's a bad owner" is driving me crazy. If you were a neglectful cat owner you would just leave the cat alone at home while at school and work because "it's just a cat" and "they're independent". There was a case in court near my city that was similar to the cats; a dog walker decided to just keep someones dog that she had been petsitting/dogwalking over the course of a few years, she took it and the owner ofc took her to court when she wouldnt give the dog back. Court ordered her to give the dog back, but she skipped town, never went to court and even after the cops caught her she wouldnt give the dog back and had hidden it with someone, they couldnt find the dudes dog for YEARS. Some people be crazy.

Re: the Dolls: OP is a psychopath. He had just moved in with her and the first thing he does is destroy her dolls. The fact that she even tried to put up with him and he still (and immediately, I might add) spat in her face says *a lot* about OP. Like, not only did he destroy her property, but he did it with glee, and only realized he screwed up when she started to cry. Why did you even touch them, esp. when they were not yours?

My neighbor when I was a kid was a cucumber dealer. He grew them in his garden and his plants always produced more cucumbers than even the girl in the first story could eat before they would go bad. He would leave bundles of cucumbers on other neighbors’ front steps. He just loved to garden and watch the plants grow and kept all of us in cucumbers and yellow squash all summer.

You've never seen a really beat up old baby doll where the eyes are a bit lazy, there are dark stains everywhere, its hair is a fried mess, and it has many claims of paranormal activity attached to it?

I have a theory on the cat story. If Midge is a true brown cat, then she is super rare and valuable. Cousin might have wanted the cat to use as a status symbol among her friends. Either way, OP is absolutely not the ahole and I'm glad she got her sweet kitty back

Heartbroken by the delayed episode I was so looking forward to packing up my Dorm room to some crazy AITA stories

The bikini girl story made me SO mad. As someone who felt super comfortable and pretty in crop shirts as a teenager, there was a time where my dad would make demeaning “jokes” about how I was dressed like a whore. That mindset being reciprocated by a WOMAN is infuriating. I was constantly not taken seriously dressing like this when I’m a high-achieving student and, according to my friends, one of the most unproblematic people they’ve met. It’s 2024. STOP equating women’s dignity and self-worth to what they wear. God forbid a woman be respectful AND confident enough to show skin.

I think there's some value in considering someone's dressware when it comes to social judgement. Obviously, not to the extreme that's displayed in the post or your anecdote. Still, ignoring common (and fairly reasonable) social expectations for the sake of individualism invites criticism. Again, not to suggest wearing crop tops is wrong, nor a bikini that might be too revealing while in Miami. I just think that public spaces balance the values of those participating and it's fair to feel uncomfortable with someone else's choice of dress.

As someone who was born and raised in CA, the nitpicky shit that family can do to eachother just blows my mind. Most of the rest of my family lives in a middle American state, and they have petty squabbles all the time, where people are demanding that you take a side. The rest of my family lives in an eastern red state, and they don't have these nitpick-y squabbles. So I really think it comes down to both familial relationship strengths, and regions.. How anyone could believe this pet owner is in the wrong, even for taking their pet back from a house they have a key to, and threatening to get them arrested for that -- that just blows my mind. I don't think anyone in my family would even start this situation, and if a 15-year-old kicked it off, they'd just give it back and question all the things the 15-year-old is saying. Think about it for a second: this is a good pet owner. They want to make sure their pet is taken care of at all times, even when they're away. The 15-year-old takes care of it, falls in love with it, kidnaps it, then makes the pet-owner out to be the devil in order to try to justify keeping it + kidnapping it. Blood should be thicker than water. However in some places blood is only as thick as hydrogen, apparently. It's just sad.

Guys there was no Smosh Pit / Games videos for a bit because they were busy with Smosh The Sitcom Live show.

My thing with the cat story is OP clearly cared enough about her cat to ask her cousin to catsit while she was busy, so clearly she cared enough to find her someone to keep her company. She also has vet bills so she was taking care of her health as well. In my mind there is no way she is an ahole in this situation

The fact the guy didn’t talk to her about the pregnancy fetish thing is such a red flag. I have no issues with peoples fetishes but you ALWAYS have to talk it through with everyone who is involved.

Seriously the first thing about kinks and fetishes is EVERYONE involved is consenting. If there’s even the smallest part of other people being involved it’s discussed and if you want an audience there’s clubs for that. Not your unsuspecting partner and their friends and family.

OP regarding her cat Midge also mentioned that Tanya was essentially the golden child who recently started acting out like this and so the rest of the family didn’t think nor believed she was at fault versus OP. I’m honestly glad OP rightfully got her cat back

Yeah Amanda’s analysis of that story was so weird, almost felt like she missed a lot of it. She kept sitting on the fence, insisting we didn’t know who was actually in the wrong, even when it became abundantly clear OP was a reliable narrator. Definitely think she missed some stuff in that story.

I was more upset at the insinuation that this family is being evil to each other. There's only one actually evil party here and it's the sociopathic 15yo cousin from hell and her asshat parents. Writing pet thieves out of a will seems rather reasonable. Calling the cops because they stole the cat was reasonable. Going to court over the cat is reasonable. People do this kind of stuff over cars, trinkets, and all manner of other things people own with real or sentimental value, it's how the world works, the fact it's a pet and not an inanimate object makes it 100 times worse and viscerally infuriating. I think Shayne just isn't good with facing conflict because this isn't the first Reddit story where he's upset at the "escalation" of actions.

​@@pigwindowsince the video about a month or so ago, maybe two months at this point, they've been more wary of passing judgements because of the bad takes they had in that episode that got ripped to shreds. I understand their reluctantce to have an opinion for fear of getting ripped for it again, but if you can't handle the criticisms read different kinds of stories.

My cat actually (supposedly) has two microchips for the same reason. Rescue I got him from said they microchipped him but the vet couldn't find it.

All the adults believed the girl, in the cat situation. Doesn't mean anything is wrong with OP, it just means girl has everyone wrapped around her finger. Yeah, so the girl was taking care of the cat. Doesn't mean she can keep it. Babysitters are not entitled to steal your baby just because they are taking care of it for you. OP was smart to go get her cat right away, because if she had waited to be "adult" about it, the access to get the cat in the future would have disappeared. Cat would be gone.

Honestly the fact that the OP was having her cousin cat sit shows how much she cared for the cat, she made sure someone was there for the cat while she worked overtime someone who’s abusing their cat wouldn’t do that
