    I don't tiktok or twitch. I love me some youtube tho. I'm all about Alveus animal sanctuary which is very twitch based. They their live streams to youtube. They livestream their animals 24/7. If you donate the right gif it triggers something that will feed the cow a treat. I would straight up go broke feeding the cow if I was on twitch.

    There's a Brazilian KZreadr called Felca who did NPC lives on ttk for a week as a way of making fun of these lives and this ended up going so viral to the point that now, in Brazil at least, NPC lives are restricted, also Felca donated all the money won for charities a true hero

    There’s some legit dark stuff on there, I once came across a Thai dude who had a monkey dressed up in clothes that literally had a huge metal collar and a chain attached. Reporting seems to do absolutely nothing. There’s also a whole genre of “Groups of uncomfortable looking Asian girls will dance for specific gifts” that honestly seems like human trafficking for beginners, they all seem to be in the same building despite there being 10’s of separate channels.

    in brazil a youtuber started doing those npc livestreams as a "joke", he ended up getting 6.000 dollars in only 7 days the trend became even more popular, so many lives started popping up that tik tok actualy began restricting those types of stream! (they were labeled as repetitive content) in the end he donated all the money to charity and did a video criticizing npc lives, truly a legend

    The thing I find odd about the "livestream where viewers have currency that they give to engage" has already been a thing in adult live cams. It's weird to see there's a pg 13 version of this.     Gyatt isn't an acronym or adjective. Its primary use was usually with elderly black men saying "GYATT DAMN," when they see fine women. Its a play on GOD DAMN and more of a reaction phrase that's been used for decades before the Tik-Tok jungle began to convert it. Loved the video and editing! You're awesome!

    In my country, Brazil, a youtuber called Felca started doing npc lives ironically and showed how easy it was to make money. This started a wave of people doing NPC lives for extra cash and resulted in Tiktok limiting these lives 😂. Felca made 4k in a week and donated to 5 charities.

    I've seen this on Facebook as well. It's a way for people to make huge amounts of money for basically doing things that make them a total fool in front of the camera. TikTok Live is guaranteed to only you feel more and more miserable as time goes on.

    my only experience with tiktok lives is that for some reason theres one that goes on like 24/7 of a loop of someone recreating scp 087 in real life, but if you go to the page that hosts the live, its literally just all videos about hockey and the scp thing isnt mentioned anywhere. also for some reason a lot of lives where someone keeps peeling the shell off of eggs without breaking the membrane inside. its actually pretty neat

    I never knew tiktok got this bad. Last I knew it was just a short video platform with poor monetization avenues. Now it seems like a weird mobile game hell. I just can't understand the mass appeal of this. So many of these things just seem weird and fetishy but they didn't seem actually sexual to me at all. We live in a society.

I couldn't figure out how to block the channels so I just deleted the app. I just stick to instagram which seems to know I want vids of cute dogs and cats.

    the monetization system on tiktok seems suspiciously close to Japan's pachinko parlors. In Japan, Gambling is illegal nationally but to skirt around that law, your "winnings", which is represented by a bunch of silver balls, are weighted and counted which is then exchanged for prices. then you go to another facility (usually across the street) and exchange/sell those prices for actual money. Tiktok being a Chinese owned company might have used the same idea that Japanese use for Pachinko parlours.

    from what i managed to find, the amount of diamonds is pretty arbitrary and is decided on a million factors that tiktok describes as "your contribution to the app" and then the amount of diamonds you have determines your % cut from the gifts, but they're still very much not transparent about what that percentage is or how they determine your "contribution"

    I went to college in NYC and I’ll never forget my freshman year I met this guy from Cali who had never walked through Time Square and he made us go and stand for 20 minutes watching a street performance where I shit you not ONE man did ONE backflip ONE time.     As a millennial, I have to say that watching you 'feel old' is a cathartic experience I never wanted to relive, let alone through another younger person. I'm 35 so anyone younger than me assumes I'm Gen X or a Boomer. Well, I suppose at the very least Gen X brought us Daria and the art of comedic apathy. Gen X taught us millennials how to keep our expectations real real low and how to find the best weed, too.
