The Weight | Featuring Ringo Starr and Robbie Robertson | Playing For Change | Song Around The World

Музыка

“The Weight,” features Ringo Starr and The Band's original member Robbie Robertson, along with musicians across 5 continents. Great songs can travel everywhere bridging what divides us and inspiring us to see how easily we all get along when the music plays. Special thanks to our partner Cambria® for helping to make this possible and to Robbie Robertson, Ringo Starr and all the musicians for joining us in celebrating 50 years of this classic song.

Playing For Change is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. Our primary focus is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos we call Songs Around the World. Creating these videos motivated us to form the Playing For Change Band-a tangible, traveling representation of our mission, featuring musicians met along our journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation-a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. Through these efforts, we aim to create hope and inspiration for the future of our planet. Learn more: playingforchange.com

@@steveskrobot5992 I agree. Of course, death is sad. Much more sad and terribly sad in many (most) cases. But, in my case, maybe not. I am 71 and death (right around the corner) might just be the end to a decent journey. My fortune. I stayed with my dad in his house, with my mom (his wife for over 50 years) for the last five weeks of his life here on this earth before he died at 83 of cancer. He certainly died slowly and painfully but he had had a life filled with many joys. He and I hope others (like us and Robbie) are blessed. SOOO many more are not. What is it all about? Who gets to have a good life and live long? Who truly knows?

The musicians are incredible but whoever mixed and edited this deserves 1000 Grammy awards. The changes in instrumentation and vocalists feels completely natural and seamless. The sound is always balanced and full while also giving each musician a great share of the limelight. The buildup is so subtle that you barely notice how much bigger it has gotten by the end. Absolutely amazing.

I read in a Beatles book once that his style is to play just a little behind the beat, and I hear that here - like with the fill at 38 seconds. On the one hand it's very laid-back, but it still has somehow has this cool momentum, like you're just kind of falling into the next bar. His playing seems so simple, but I wouldn't change a thing about it - it fits this song so well (plus a hundred+ Beatles tunes, of course). Any drummers have insight on this? Do you hear it this way too?

@@markforman2768 Yep! But HELLO! Here's a fast-forward to now. Ringo turns 83 on July 7, 2023. And, still aging backwards, in both looks and voice. He sings in perfect pitch, perfect key, and sounds fab. Of course his drumming is his signature Ringo best. One word. COOL!

Ringo is so cool. Steady beat, no mistakes, the very best “song drummer” & great guy. Been doing it for 63 years & was part of the biggest musical show on earth. God bless you Sir Richard.

True that, all the crap he has received over the years is not deserved, then again most of that has come from wannabes and trolls just looking to stir shit up.

@@The_Story_Channel You are right about that. Real drummers ALL admire Ringo. He never overtakes the music or the song. His style is unmistakable and on this song he laid down a beat but with very subtle retards when it emphasized the song. A true Master of his craft.

Robbie Robertson and the Band loved their own art, not because of arrogance or conceit, but because it was that good. They infected us with the quality of their creation and we're the better for it. Thank you.

Ringo looks fantastic. Will he ever age. Seems to me he has looked 55 for the last 30 years.
