The Weatherby Model 307: A Customizable 700® Footprint Rifle Platform
Спорт
Today marks a historical event in Weatherby’s 78-year history, for the first time in over 50 years Weatherby will introduce a new centerfire action rifle line, the Model 307. Meant to complement the historic Mark V and Vanguard lineups, the Model 307 is a 2-Lug, fully cylindrical action compatible with a host of aftermarket accessories. It features a fluted bolt with a tool-less disassembly, TriggerTech trigger, and a detachable Magpul magazine to name a few. The goal of the 307 was to design an action that could accommodate the vast offerings of stocks, triggers, rails, mounts, and magazines in today’s marketplace. We are proud to announce all rifles with Model 307 actions will be built in our Sheridan, WY headquarters.

So you made a Remington 700 clone. Not sure what is so special or innovative about making something that everyone makes already
I’ve been a bolt action rifle guy since 1980 and I’m glad to see you doing this
I’m so exited for the rifle! I really hope it gains lots of popularity! I love weatherbys and I love they’re made here in the U.S.A.! At around $1100, it’s a steal!

I hope to get one! I was pricing a base model Tikka T3X 243, but it needs threaded, needs cerakote, dang sure needs a new chassis, and by the time you put that into it, it’s more expensive than this gun, and you still get more with this one! Lots of value here, it looks like!
@leonardogarcia2506

@@lauraburandt2655 I agree 100%. I have quite a few tikkas and Sakos, and for the money, if left as is, they’re a great rifle for the money. At least the base models. I was drawn to them because of how easy they are to barrel swap, but it doesn’t end there! Lol. By the time you customize your $700-$800 Tikka, you could easily spend another $2k on top of the original purchase price. So far, the only negative I’ve heard about this weatherby, is they have feeding problems with their magazines in the 7mm prc. From what I’ve read, it sounds like they’ve addressed the issue by changing magazines. I’ve heard nothing but good things as far as accuracy and handling. If you decide to purchase one, be sure to give an update and your thoughts on the rifle! Happy shooting!

Thank you for voicing a thought! They are new enough that I haven’t heard a lot of accounts from actual people reviewing them. I think it’s going to be my next one! Hope you love yours! Happy shooting!
Oh wow!!!!! I’m pretty stoked!
As a Weatherby who shoots PRS competitively, I always get asked if I shoot a Weatherby and always have to reply “they don’t make one setup for PRS”. Now that has changed! Way to embrace the modern precision bolt action market!
Beauty! I wish it had integral recoil lug for easier barrel swap, and a quick barrel switch system
Cool! Great work!
I loved my Vanguard 270 back in the nineties. They were made by Howa in Japan. It was a beautiful tight shooting rifle. I had some medical problems and had to go ultra light. I wish it had a 3 position safety
That is awesome to see. I know with your attention to detail and passion for the shooting sports and hunting this will be an awesome addition to the lineup and add more customization and creativity.

Great concept, everything I have been looking for, just bummed about the 90 degree bolt throw! 70 or 60 is hard to go back from...
Roy is a legend.
Weatherby if you're seeing these comments, selling just actions is going to be huge too. Not saying you need to copy Aero Precision, but you have the chance to really corner the entry market with selling an action at a price that many are comfortable with, and this will allow more companies to offer accessories and components to build around you. Many companies in this industry fail because they are too proprietary in which no other company offers barrels, bolts, accessories and things like that. You have the opportunity to really change the direction of your company in the market.

I was excited when I saw this announced, when I picked one up and saw the 1200 dollar price i was even more excited, it's an absolute steal at the price with the features.
Action seems just like the tuebor I used to build a custom. They build actions for a lot of people-wouldn’t be surprised if they’re making these. I guess Weatherby is selling Remington 700 clones now.
This is a smart decision, the best bolt gun setups for customizability are 700 footprint actions, 700 triggers, and savage barrel shanks/barrel nuts, good decsions to go that route
Heck ya! Never like the look and feel of the older guns. Definitely love this idea.
Nice to see some innovation. But you should have made it 3 lug
Id like to see some cool fast twist options on a cool 25 on a shorter 284 case
While I prefer Roy Weatherby Sr.' taste in rifles, I can see what you did here. It's a fresh take, plenty options, huge value at an affordable entry price. Way to go Weatherby!! I'm still waiting for Adam Weatherby to announce his book by the way.... "Weatherby - The Legacy continues!"
Model 700 footprint and a 6.5 wby rpm sounds like a dream
Just as long it comes in 30/06 Springfield I'll be happy
Man I'm stoked about this action. Really glad they're brining a high-quality rem 700 footprint action to the market. All with the Weatherby name and production behind it. Oh, and it's not built in Japan ....... Merica' baby
Well I'll be...shocked. If you can keep these priced reasonably you will have knocked it outta the park

Unbelievable, you guys are coming to market with just the actions too!!! Great move! With remington 700 triggers and chasis and savage pattren rails these guns are ready to go day one. I cant wait to see what they can do when some custom builders get them done up with some Krieger barrels
This shows an amazing amount of discernment. This is exactly what people want. Thanks for reading the room.
Congratulations, looking forward to seeing this new rifle.
Very cool to see this new rifle from Weatherby! And the "307" is certainly a fitting nod to the great state of Wyoming. 👊🏼 Can't wait to try one out!
Looks good! One thing I can’t tell from the pictures on your site, is there a step on the bolt shroud (like the 110 or the 700) to turn the gas 90 degrees in the event of a case failure? Had that happen, here to tell about it….
Well… from Wyoming, been wanting a Wyoming Weatherby for awhile and now with the area code in there too… I’m going to have to get one.
Excellent news Weatherby! The new 307 will likely lead to a dream come true for me, to hunt with a Weatherby of my own.

It seems everything above the 6mm is normal (6.5s with 1:8, .280 AI with 1:9, .30s with 1:10) but their .243 Win and .240 Wby Mag option are both 1:7.5" twist, which means they can use the 115gr bullets. The idea of that really interests me! A fast twist .243 or .240 wby would be awesome for range work as well as matches.
This is the first time I’ve ever given serious thought to buying one of your products. Well done.
Only thing I like about it is my home area code. Never been a rem 700 fan.
Great work and great foresight on the parts interchange. In today's marketplace too many companies want to make proprietary products that they think are going to capture all the market share. Consumers want a reliable well built base to start with that they can tweak and mix parts with to find what they want or perceive as an advantage. Weatherby looks to have given us a great platform to build off of and I bet they sell a boat load of them. Best wishes on your new venture.
I’m currently looking to add a Mark V to my collection and I’ll have to keep and eye out for this new rifle when it hits the shelves. Good job guys and girls of Weatherby, keep it coming!

50 years since the last action release, then build off another 50 year old action blueprint, nice
Great show and great guns 💪💪💪👏👏👏👏😀
Is there a flush mount magazine or a BDL style with hinged floor plate? The only models they show are AICS mags hanging lower than the trigger guard or a chassis. Otherwise looks like you're building from an action.
Will it take shouldered prefit barrels? I've got a Stiller, I'd get rid of the Stiller before my Tikka's.
I hope you can offer one in 25-06!
I think i will stick with my sako & brno centerfire rifles.
Awesome. If I wasn't already putting together an ARC action in an MDT HNT26 I would have seriously considered the 307 Alpine. That'll be a killer modern hunting rifle.
Okay. That's cool.
Looking forward to getting my hands on one of these. Can someone to tell the violinist to keep it down....
Prolly first gun model number taken from an area code.
A step in the right direction for sure, but if they really want to get more customers from other brands they need to come out with more calibers like 6mm creed and 6.5prc. I see they have 7prc as an option which is good, but they need to stop pushing their proprietary ammo which is never available. I think if they swallowed their pride, released the 307 in more calibers and came out with a few different colors for the stock, they would seriously take a large section of the market, including me, with the $1200 XP, especially for that price and what you’re getting.
It's interesting to see that there are companies trying to build a premium action using 6-lug designs on a Rem700 footprint, and Weatherby who already has a superb 6/9lug design going backward. Isn't it the very reason Roy Weatherby built the Mark V action because he wasn't satisfied with the Rem700 type action? I would personally consider a Mark V rifle built to the modern PRS specs. I already own a Vanguard and a Bergara, there's just no point of getting the 307.
Interested in seeing where this goes...maybe 223? Your video is 556.
To Weatherby credit they did price them just right. I would have loved to see the 7PRC in a 24 or 26" barrel just to see what velocities could be had. Either way these should sell like hotcakes.
yaaaaay. another 700 clone..... but if the bolt locks shut I'd buy it.
