The Wars of the Maccabees: How Hanukkah Began | A Tale from Ancient Judea

Judas Maccabeus Leads Jewish Revolt against Seleucid Kingdom, 167-160 BC It is the 2nd century BC, and the land of Judea, homeland of the Jews, is ruled by the Seleucid Kingdom based in Syria. Subjected to a militant crackdown on their religious traditions, the Jews rebel against the Seleucid king Antiochus, and rally behind the leadership of Judas Maccabeus. The success of the Maccabean Revolt and Judas' restoration of the Temple of Jerusalem bring hope to the Jewish people, a legacy celebrated with the sacred festival of Hanukkah that endures to this day.
A story from the ancient Mediterranean world, based on 1 and 2 Maccabees, featuring: Judas Maccabeus, Antiochus IV Epiphanes, Mattathias, Simon Thassi, Jason, Menelaus

Hanukkah sanctified the Temple of the Greek imposed Babylonian lunar calendar, and the Pharisees reinstated it in the Synagogues after the Temple was destroyed in 70AD.

Did you know that Alexander and his generals were educated by Aristotle?? Yes, right before Alexander returned home and his father died of mysterious circumstances, possibly murdered by Alexander himself. Aristotle was chased into exile because the kings that ruled during his time believed that his teachings divided and corrupted society, and I can't say that they were wrong. They had a lot of judgements, but no law, they were ruled by opinions and desire. They abused their positions of power to destabilize and subdue everyone in their paths. They passed laws removing the doors from homes, and eroded all privacy and intimacy within families. They passed laws dictating that before a woman could be wed, she had to spend the night with the governor. They passed laws regarding prayer, food, and teaching Torah law, and what's worst is that if people didn't obey, they were put to death. They hung children by the mother's necks and executed them both. So when you open with historical facts, it doesn't do justice to the story of what led up to the Maccabean revolt. Maybe you don't know about it. Judas was the Jewish messiah, but no one knows, they don't understand what they were up against, and they also don't recognize that we suffer from the same circumstances today. People don't realize that they were unseated, and had their reputations destroyed. The people against them rules by controlling the narrative while undermining and sabotaging them. Even today, we accuse them of idolatry and condemn them for ruling as both king and priest. Those were the charges that turned the people against them so long ago and brought us all into exile. It's crazy, and I probably sound crazy if you don't know more of what happened, but all this is so much bigger than any of us know and we can't come out of it if we don't stop bowing to the same kind of circumstances that took them down in the first place because no one can save us from ourselves. Peace

@@SchmuelGoldstein-mj8rk Are you crazy? Who do you think the Pharisees were? You need to be responsible for what you believe. Alexander the Great had an orator who was famous for saying that if you really want to destroy someone, don't kill them, just ruin their reputation. The smear campaign is quite effective and is still used as a standard practice. Records can't be trusted, history is confused, and no one knows the truth. So what makes your assessment of the Pharisees valid today? What, because Jesus cursed the Pharisees??? Do you know who the Pharisees are today? You have a Jewish name, are you really so ignorant of history? Why would you say that? I'm not picking a fight, I'm just trying to understand.
