Hi everyone! I’ve been absolutely blown away by not only how well this short film has done since uploading it in January but also how much my channel has grown within the same time frame. I went from 70ish subscribers to close to 110 as of this morning and still growing. And while that may not seem like a huge number, I’m thankful for all who are curious to see what I do next with my filmmaking journey. I’m also thankful for the comments that people have left for me. I think while there’s elements I enjoy about this short film, there’s a ton of problems I have with it which I hope to remedy in future short films. I cannot understate how important constructive criticism is to me and while there’ve been a few laughably short-sighted comments, most have been very respectful and I’m so appreciative of that! Speaking of my filmmaking journey, I’ve done some more work over the past few weeks and I have more work on the back burner that I hope to complete this month but in the meantime, be sure to check out the Director’s commentary, where myself and the two main actors discuss some of the behind the scenes of the project. Additionally, if you’re curious to see my other work, check out my short film playlist on YT. The most recent film as of right now, Adam and Jonathan’s Daring Escape, has some of my best work so be sure to check that out! Links to both of these are down below. Thank you all so much again. I can’t emphasize enough how appreciative I am of your support! Bikes, motorcycles, cabs, cars, trains, planes, helicopters, sailboats, motorships, scooters, jet skies, trikes, trucks, tractors, jeeps, tanks, and all the extra ways for transport..... everything is for grabs.... and still they ALWAYS walk in these types of movies. Why? I should find myself a badass tank to move from A to B. How fantastic would that be😂

Hey man, I really do appreciate this comment despite what’s said. This film for me was a great challenge to make and I rushed through making it a lot. Despite all the other work I’ve done, I’m still upset that this has gained the most traction out of all of them because I watch it and only see the mistakes. Despite there still being elements I enjoy, I learned a lot by making this movie and I have since acknowledged and accepted that this film was a necessary part of my filmmaking journey. And while I always love the support this film gets, I absolutely get why it didn’t jive with a good amount of people, you included. If you’re willing to give me another chance, I have a playlist that’s more up to date with my more recent shorts as well as my old ones. If my style’s not your thing, to each their own but again, thank you for the comment and for watching this. kzread.info/head/PL8xab-uQCqSqMvSk8qqlWve6nM-Po_ECs&si=06ScE4zEENMsrLJj

fair comment, but honestly, to survive nuclear storms and whatnot, you'd probably be much safer in a mineshaft than in what remains of any house. Also, this location is really cool so if you're in the area, definitely check out the Clinton Tunnel in Clinton, Massachusetts. It's this old abandoned train tunnel that provided some great filmmaking opportunities! It's also legal to go to so check it out if you get the chance!

Houses are often scanned by dangerous Marauders looking for supplies and resources and can usually tell if someone is staying their or not! So to alleviate the threat of short term survival you may not want to stay in a house where you could experience an unwelcome surprise coming back from your own wandering!

Since it seems appropriate to critique these fioms, I'm going to throw two cents into the ring... tell me "it's ten years since the apocalypse" and the open with a tire rutted field and underpass full of foot prints and fresh tire tracks... a clean paper cup that survived ten years outdoors? The bandana hanging in the trestle... and suddenly (wow- "after thought") let's find MORE clothing lying on the grass... so starved he eats a fish raw after packing it for--- half a day?-- rather than eat it raw, but FRESH, where he caught it? Dunno, but I couldn't suspend belief much longer than ten minutes. Good effort, though-- keep it up, just pay attention to continuity in the story line. It's the details that draw the viewer in.

  • @courtneytranter9195

Dude, I commend the video; I don't have nearly enough effort to create a short film, but like, the blood always disappearing after he was stabbed?! Perfect example was the end beach scene. Everything he found was in good condition. It's meant to be post apocalyptic; everything should be at least dirty if not torn. I've honestly seen better from lower budgets. Acting though was good; you guys have that down pack. As for your story line and the small details; massive improvement needed. Pay attention to the small details, they're what counts. The amount of times you missed small details and could tell it was done in multiple takes was a bit poor. 1 star out of 5. Also the end scene with the beach and houses didn't make it post apocalyptic at all. Sorry guys. Keep trying though.

I appreciate your critiques, man! Thank you! I totally agree with all of these points, I felt that with more time (something which I unfortunately lacked), I felt this could’ve been a lot better. The genre was definitely a bit more ambitious than what we had the budget for. However, there are moments that I’m legitimately proud of as a filmmaker. I’m definitely gonna try to simplify the kind of stories I tell with future films until I can find a larger crew because this was guerrilla filmmaking at it’s core. There will definitely be more consistency in the future. Thanks for the comment!

@@ericbielakiewiczvideography I'd say to just keep it simple so you don't outstrip your resources, or spend too long setting the scene..but I'll say this too, when it was good, it was *really* good. You've got the vision, a good camera, and a nice cadre of talented actors - no doubt that with some patience and effort, you''re bound to attract a good solid crew and decent investment. But whatever you do..don't get distracted by low budget!
