@@melianna999 Maybe so, but grief takes time, and they didn't even wait 6 months to remarry. Regardless of when they had met, grief is so demanding that it simply takes time to process. It seems clear that they had miniscule grief. Maybe their first was an abusive shrew such that they didn't miss them (for good reason), or maybe their heart was shallow such that they didn't feel loss. We don't know; it is notable though.

Sadly, the last decent film made by actor Kerwin Mathews, everybody's favorite childhood fantasy hero (Jack the Giant Killer, 7th Voyage of Sinbad, Gulliver, etc). After The Waltz King, he knocked around Europe for a few years, then returned to America but could only find work in low-budget junk (Boy Who Cried Werewolf, Octa-man!, etc) before giving it up to run his famous antique store Pierre Deux in San Francisco. After his big heyday (late 50's/early 60's) , things just never worked out for Mathews, always a modest, unassuming and very professional guy. LR

Which German actors do you refer to? 3 of the actors including the leading lady, were born in Austria. Of course these would be considered sometimes German, though they're Austrian. The Lead actor Kevin Matthew's is American and Brian Aherne is British.

I know that both were born in Austria but they made so many fab Films with the great&fabulous of the UFA etc)

Thanks for sharing this Gem ! I saw this as a kid !
Thanks for this delicious film with many famous Austrian actors and characters. I live almost next to the Viennese opera house and love this presentation. I did not know it exists. The operette ``Die Fledermaus``, The Bat, is shown every New Year`s Eve in the opera and there is a huge screen built up before the building so that the public can participate. 🎩
Remember this movie on TV, as a child. So happy to see this again. Thank you.
I've wanted for so long to see this again - thanks for posting. I'd be interested in seeing any Disney live-action films and TV productions from the 50s and 60s, my childhood years.

Henrietta Treffz - mezzo-soprano / 1818- 1878 / was 44 years old when she married 7 years her junior Johann Strauss II -jr. At 59 she suffered from heart attack and died .Seven weeks later in 1878 Strauss remarried Angelika Dittrich an actress. In 1887 he married his 3 wife Adele Deutch.

Seven weeks later? Wow. It sounds like they didn't bother to grieve, as though they didn't love or miss them or experience any sense of loss.
@cacatr4495

Fun fact: In 1961, Disney produced a tv film about Beethoven, called "The Magnificent Rebel".

This fathers attitude is good contrast to Push his son on to be as great as he was. Some times its what it takes for a kid to find out what he loves ...and builds character too ..

I finally found the movie, didnt know there were many versions of it. Thank you
WOW!!! That was FANTASTIC!!! I loved it! Thank you so much for posting this!!! :)
I saw this when I was a child long ago. I was fascinated with it then, and still adore the music so very much. I had never thought to see it again. Thank you for putting it up.
LR

Good movie - it is a little bit closer to the real life of Johann Strauss Junior than the 1938 "The Great Waltz". In that movie, Hollywood created a fictional "Mrs. Strauss" and his opera singer wife Jetty became his extra-marital girl friend.
Excellent. Movie I just hope we have more of these movies with beautiful music .great scenery and. People inspiring each other. Good values no swearing, no violence . It shows how people achieve their goals with the of families and friends. The world needs to go back and start to listen to relaxing music . Pleasant music is healing and it helps us to calm down and. Get rid of the stress around us. Loud music. Creates stress. And stress. Makes us age faster
