I know there will be people who skip the opening and haven't watched my other videos so let me make this clear again so there's no confusion. This is my SECOND time watching this specific episode because I got the chance to view the episode at an early premiere event a week ago. Rick and Okafor had great chemistry. All of their scenes together are mesmerizing.

An interesting thing I heard is that Major General Beale calls Rick "Grimes" when he knows Rick is telling the truth, and he calls him "Rick" when he knows Rick is lying. That's why Beale said, "Good, Rick," after Rick said, "No," when asked if Okafor was up to something. Beale knows Rick is lying about that. Also, in the scene where Rick cuts off his hand, he is the only one handcuffed to a leash because he tried to escape multiple times before. Nobody else is handcuffed in that scene.

I LOVED the dream scenes. they had such hidden meanings. Rick satets by saying, "This is where im supposed to be(home), but I dont know where I am(CRM)." And in the 2nd dream they talk about not being where they want to be nut Michonne says she isnt stuck, but Rick thinks he is(as in Michonne is with another community but she still looks for Rick, and Rick is stuck in the CRM).

I just watched this on Patreon this morning and watching again already! Love this episode and so excited to see this season and finally get those answers we all wanted from TWD ! I still wish they had waited for the ending scene a couple episodes in but still well done!! Some of my favorite Rick monologues and love how they narrated this episode !

As far as we know currently, Michonne has no idea Rick is actually a CRM soldier. She doesn't even know what CRM is. I'm sure we'll learn in Episode 2 and maybe she'll end up finding out somehow that Rick is there, but we'll have to wait and see for that. That's exactly why I pointed it out as interesting. It must mean she knows Rick is a part of them currently, or it could be for a different reason. Idk.

I never watched TWD anything, until last Fall. I watched the 11 original TWD seasons in 2 months. Followed-up with Dead City and Daryl Dixon. Moved on to FTWD, which I am currently in season 5. This is so great! Haven’t watched any World Beyond. But I think I need to, because I love/hate Jadis. Fun channel here!

@@LilNutDumb yeah it was crazy, I was younger at the time so I wasn’t in touch with social media like I am now. I honestly don’t understand why so many people quit watching after negan came on. He ended up being my favorite character by the time the show ended. I’ve watched every bit of the walking dead except for the last 2 episodes of world beyond and pretty much all of fear the walking dead. I started watching it when it premiered and I just stopped. I’m going to finish it all soon

IMO the first episode was done so well. I'm really looking forward to episode four because Danai wrote it.

I love that Pearl is played by Leslie-Ann Brandt. She played bad a** demon Maze in Lucifer. She's perfect for that part because she is great at that kind of stunt work. She was after all, Lucifer's main demon warrior.

I love how it ends on the gasps. Perfect and realistic

i love that her quirk is to be throwing glasses at him.. the way she is?.. she is going to die (like okafor's wife) heroically! (kinda like huck - there are good people within there, and when they 'know' - they make decisions that save others to push the mission/exposure forward)

they are making characters that, by the end.. we are going to love - and either want them left in charge of the place - - or come back with them to alexandria (now part commonwealth) but being walking dead - they will kill instead.. i just thought of a 'thing'... what IF they get back to alexandria? and crm follow and destroy it?.. seriously.. no one has explained how the people of alexandria 'suddenly became living at 'the bricks' or how babylon became into existence?? (dead city - also was in the future from now) we just assume that alexandria is still there being rebuilt etc or is still just an 'outpost' of commonwealth.. are they going to destroy alexandria? as punishment for escape? only to end up bumping up against the king (commonwealth) then flee back to crm to "regroup"/'cut a deal'.. ? leaving a stalemate between the two?? (future storys)

For me it was Tenet, everyone hated it when i absolutely loved it. Thankfully this episode is getting the respect it deserves. Also the sound track is very "Tenet inspired" imo

Hey man i reacted to this episode and uploaded it to youtube but it got blocked. Is that why you have to cut out the episode here and there? Because I think my issue was i basically had very little cuts and put almost the whole episode in the video lol. Im sure youve had videos blocked and was wondering how you got around it

Yeah, definitely don’t put almost the whole episode in your video lol. That will always result in a block. The rule of thumb is basically try to do less than 20% of the episode and make sure there’s no more than 5-10 seconds being shown consecutively at a time.

Now that I think about it, I have watched ep 1 of towl already 4 times and love it so much and also the fact that rick loses his hand cus I loved the comics and I just love the idea of him losing a hand, but I wish Beale cut it off or something as a punishment, or a classic old bite from a walker

Honestly I have a feeling that Esteban is playing Rick, or he's a spy/agent for Beale or something or other. The way he said "You might as well sign up just to get him off your back" sounded too good/specific to me. It's like Esteban wanted Rick to join the CRM. Who knows if he was telling the truth about that escape route too, since Rick didn't actually get to follow through with it.

The show takes place in Philadelphia, that's where the city is. It being filmed in NJ doesn't mean it doesn't take place in Philadelphia. Well, I mean, I'm sure some of the scenes are technically meant to be in NJ considering Phili is right next to NJ, so idk lol. But the city itself is definitely meant to be Philadelphia.

Hard to say, because I've only actually went through and rewatched from start to finish a few times, but some specific episodes I have watched like 100+ times. And I've watched probably over 50 different reactors react to pretty much the full series.

The timeline is a plot hole.......5 years after the bridge and that was his last escape???? So....... 6 years aftwr the bridge then he didnt escape and try to get away? And we dont see him in the finale of season 11? With 2 arms? Makes no sense biw did he have 2 arms if the last time he tried to escape was only 5 years after but in that scene it was 6?

Could rick not cut the wire instead of his hand?

First off I’m so glad to see rick back and michonne . Loved everything about this episode except rick losing his hand especially the way it fucking happened. Rick cutting his own hand off without getting bit or not getting in a dangerous im stuck in a merle zombie type situation was worse for rick here. And people saying general beal is this so called ricks greatest villain , then you would think he would be the evil guy to cut ricks hand to show who has power here and to punish rick for trying to escape , but no … This was the dumbest way to cut ricks hand off by doing it to himself for preety much for nothing to also just really slow him down more with trying to get away anyways . The hell with having people keep bringing up the dam comics . What happens in the comics should stay there . The main shows over and ricks story with that shit that never happened anyway changed so much from the way it did differently in the comics . I know in the comics rick lost his hand early on by the governor but now they wanna make rick actually lose his hand a different way this late?? I think it’s silly to cut Rick’s hand off. The show had diverted so far from the comics that I feel like it’s irrelevant to do that now . I understand ricks been through it with these people keeping him prisoner for over 10years being stuck here but man cutting off your own hand was not worth it and there’s no going back after doing that permanent damage . We all know that eventually this series rick and michonne will find a way out of this mess with rick only having his 1 hand meaning he really didn’t have to cut his hand off from that last different escape attempt he went for . Rick getting his hand cut off felt so rushed and carelessly. There was no big climax to the big decision to cut it off and then wasn’t really worth it after the fact . Really had hoped it was a dream sequence. 😭😭

It didn’t happen in the ways you listed because all of that was typical, predictable and done a million times over by other shows and in the TWD with other characters. This is different in the best way. 5 years after the bridge hes a broken shell of a man desperate to get back to what he loves. He doesnt need a villain to push or force him there. His circumstances are the villian at this point. It may have not have been exciting and a big enough deal of a moment for YOU. But it was for Rick. This was a catalyst moment for his Character. We see him pushed to the point of no return and desperation. just to fail and be knocked back to the dark hole of dispair he mentally lives in.

Rick being the biggest character of all time especially the protagonists it’s definitely a big deal . Ricks less of a threat to people and struggles kicking peoples ass in fights as it is most the time. No matter how good you are with one hand you’ll eventually be limited to what all you can do especially with guns and reloading compared to someone skilled with two hands. Tired of people thinking a big character needs to lose a limb in order to look more like a badass with is bs and just lazy copy paste writting we’ve seen thousands of times . Him cutting his own hand off was fucking stupid and wasn’t worth it . Can’t be a proud badass in a zombie apocalypse be in g glad you did t get bit or anything and to see someone cutting there own limb off on purpose for escape attempt was not worth it not even after . Shit sucks to only have one hand keys not pretend it’s the best thing ever . Shit will always bother me to see Rick with one hand and to know he purposely cut it off for really know reason in the end as he will have a much better plan of escaping later on in this new show later . Yall people are wild for always finding ways to love any fucked up idea for those characters to always feel they need to go through this shit back to back . Guarantee the ones that are okay with rick with not only losing a hand , but cutting it off for an escape attempt are the same ones that would actually would have a problem if they did this shit with Daryls story on his show instead before . Way too many Daryl fanboys to never want a scratch left on that character to admit anything if shit happened to him rather then characters like rick or them being okay if it happened to anyone else. Rather had rick get a blood clot or something in his hand for it to get cut off then cutting his hand that’s perfectly fine off over an escape attempt . And nope we have not seen someone lost a limb due to a blood clot so that ain’t copying shit . The way rick lost his hand was so dumb and it definitely felt rushed with the writting at the beginning for it to happen so fast and uncared for
