Roberts range wasn’t just what him exceptional it was the raw emotion and feeling he put into the live performances with Zep that made them so other worldly.

Why are people saying that the highest notes don't count. Just because they aren't part of his full voice or chest voice that doesn't mean they aren't a part of his vocal range. A vocal range is the range of pitches that a person can produce, regardless of the register. Robert Plant's vocal range in my opinion is nothing out of the ordinary. Most guys have the capacity to sing up into the 5th octave in full voice. However, the emotion and quality of his voice is what makes him a brilliant singer. It's not about his range, but his artistry.

He sang professionally for a rock band, therefore, by definition, he is a singer. Whether or not he is or was a good singer is up for debate. In my personal opinion, he wasn't the best technical singer, but he was great in the sense of delivering raw emotional gritty sounds with loads of soul.

As it happens to be my ringtone is The Immigrant Song, Robert's vocals flow with the music with such passion, no other singer could have done the job for ZEP at all bar one that is ROBERT PLANT AND ROBERT ALONE, sometimes pure raw gutsy blues to such gentle tones swaying from one to another in perfect timing to give such a powerful feeling.

Not exactly sure what the point of this particular video "is", RangeHub, by your putting the key at the bottom left corner... (Vocal Range demonstrated by the different "keys" that the songs he's sung have been in? What's that got to do with his "vocal range'?) To me, showing Plant's vocal range would be , (just as an example), the beginning of "Bring it on Home", and the last high note in "Communication Breakdown". But it's a rather nice sampling of Robert's singing, regardless. ;o)

There's a couple of bands that do amazing Zepplinesque songs and vocals but this video makes a good point, it's hard to capture the entire vocal range of Robert Plant; mostly they copy his full throttle upper range.

cool video. but the '5' notes are '6's. these are C#6s on Immigrant Song, not C#s. No one uses the Yamaha standard, who dropped the bottom octave, hence the difference in numbering the octaves. Plant sings - like most people - in the 4, 5 and 6 octave ranges.
