Does he even know how to play this? The emphasis is supposed to be on the melody notes, which he barely plays. He's probably trying to do it his way, but it just sounds wrong.

One of the most beautiful voices in Rock & Roll. True artistry. They don't make artists like this anymore. Pure talent.

Wow, what a surprise. Person who grew up in specific decade thinks that decade had the best music, haven’t heard that one before. I swear 90% of people get old and grow bitter towards music, thinking it was only good when they were younger. It’s sad. You aren’t saying anything new. And if you were a genuine lover of music you’d be well aware that there’s great music in every decade. Imagine being quiet so foolish as to think that out of hundreds of years of documented musical creations, one single decade is where it was best, and it just so happens to be the decade you grew up in (shock). Cut the ignorance.

To me sounds like he lost some of the punch he had on his youth but he's not a high note plain singer, so this doesn't really made any change to the quality of his music.

Some aging rock stars should take notice of how dignified Robert Plant performs at his age. He is not trying to be who he once was. And this is why people should stop asking for a Zeppelin reunion. It is best left to memory or at least to different interpretations that don't border on self parody.

I just bought the "Celebration Day" DVD and it's as good as LZ will ever be. Plant is honoring the old and incorporating the new in a very respectable way. And while his face shows a lot of miles, his voice still rings true. Let's just appreciate him and the music while we can.

plants voiced changed permanently in 1972. You can hear it clearly in shows when compared to anything prior. He used to shriek. Zep is still my favorite band by far however

Tony Wilson By Jimmy Page standards this is very simple to play. I learned this 25 years ago when I was little more than a beginner.

not screaming or aiming for impossible notes of his youth but using his voice intelligently to great effect here - the song is always king with Plant and other great vocalists the singers only role is to serve the song, he achieves this magnificently here with equal measures of guile and art

George C you can actually see it again, a fairly new young band called " greta van fleet"

Saw him with Alison Krauss two weeks ago. Loved every minute of it. Brilliant. What a magical pair of musicians. So magnanimous with the audience. He asked them to turn on the house lights after 2 encores at the end of the concert. We went crazy, cheering and waving to everyone on stage and they were waving back at us, he blew us all a kiss. So glad I had the pleasure to see them live. With 3 or 4 Zeppelin songs, too. Go see for yourself.

The guitar player was amazing ! Robert not sounding like he did in the 70s but for 68 years of age he’s nothing short of amazing !

Robert Plant lost his voice during their second American tour. He's been imitating himself ever since. That was a real danger for loud rock singers, losing themselves and pushing it too hard onstage. When the Police toured America Sting lost his voice in Buffalo, the concert becoming a jam session.

I am very blessed to say I WAS THERE!! I work for ACL live and I've seen many many shows, this night, I was apart of the crowd, it was my first time seeing him! I'm such a fan! I was at the back of the room pressed against the wall, the music hitting me in waves..tears streaming down my face. Such a beautiful experience, one that will stay with me forever! Thank You ACL for giving me the best experiences of my life! Thank you Robert Plant for continuing to share your talents with us!

I've seen him a couple of times first time at a charity concert in 1986 Birmingham UK singing rockabilly was great. Then in 1995 with Jimmy page. Then 2002 with this same lineup as now apart fro different drummer. A small venue at Sheffield university great show.

i have seen mr plant live about 7 times - once in a small club in amsterdam called the milkweg - the next day we saw him on the street going into a coffeeshop - so we followed as we were there for the coffeeshop experience anyway - and i was behind him as he ordered from " the window" - just before he spoke his order i said out loud for the dealer to hear me - uh he will have some kashmir !!!!!! he turned around and said not funny dude in a jokingly manner - lol - he and his band sat at the last table , but the tables were big and he could see we had no where to sit so he graciously invited us to sit with him - we talked for an hour with him as we enjoyed our kashmir !!! and no subject was off limits - what a gentleman and down to earth guy - i very much enjoyed his storoes and his company ...

Jack Kilman you perfectly put into words my exact thoughts and emotions, upon listening to this reinvention of one of my most favored Zep Classics. The ages conveyed in Mr Plant's voice adds a depth, richness and layers of emotions that one developes only through the passage of times. I can hear many lifetime's in the way he sings this piece now, that I had never heard before when compared to his delivery, back in his younger years. Mr Plant's voice and delivery resonates so much deeper, than I had once believed possible. ✌💖

This is EXACTLY why he will often talk about his early Led days and say things like he had a long way to go with his voice back then. Somewhere along the way, he got progressively aware from just going over the top with it and emphasizing more and more the character, subtleties, depth of emotion, and sensuality of his voice.

Wow! Robert Plant will be 72 years old this August 20th. He still sounds soulfully amazing!

His voice gets better with age even though I never thought that could be possible. Such an incredible artist who can also belt out the blues like heaven. Can't mistake Robert Plant for anyone else.

And one of the nicest guys ever. We were very fortunate to meet him during the Shakin' & Stirred tour having been a kid who saw Zeppelin in '77 also at MSG. Lucky indeed.

Plant has such a contemplative face, especially during that solo. Such a mystical atmosphere they created here.

Outstanding. Plant's voice gives me chills.

Rasputin can sure play the guitar these days!!!!!

Robert did the right thing to go out on his own. It is the artist in him that makes that call.

This is a man who flat out just lives and loves music! Never stop Planty. He sure knows how to find talent too, this guitar player is fantastic!

They have talent from the family structure that used to exist. Robert is just excellent.

Awesome!! Robert still has it and that guitarist killed it!

Recently, I have made Robert Plant my go to when I am feeling a need for peace of mind and dreaming. I love going through the many years of his music, interviews, and so enjoy listening to his great lyrics and magical voice. He is such a great musician and a craftsman of his own soul. I so appreciate that has shared himself with us all for so many years.

He's the best ever! His voice hasn't changed! Keep it going on!

Ryan Day92- I'd have to somewhat disagree, he is so much more emotive now. His phrasing is better, and his vocal flexibility is superb!

I respect Robert Plant, but let's be real honest, he sounds nothing like he did before. Some of you must be listening to something else.

He can still hit the occasional high, but the endurance required to stay up there is long vanished. He still sounds great for his age, though. Will always be one of my favorite vocalists.

@@allendean9807 but he doesn't sing it the same, doesn't go all out. anymore. if you had a band. play behind him like zep did, his vocals wouldn't be able to keep up. I respect him, he knows his limitations and performs the song accordingly so it still sound good. He doesn't over reach, but in the original for example he would hold the "baby" for like ten seconds, so it was like "BBBAAAAAAABBBBBBBBBBBYYYYYY!!!!" now he just goes "BABY!, "BABY!". Probably because if he tried to hold it his voice would cut out and the song would suck. So he takes the level down and still gives a solid performance. He was the best ever, but unlike mick jagger who is still close to as good as he ever was, Robert cant perform the same style.

Did his voice change in 50 years? Absolutely not... amazing!

Of course it did. He can’t hit the high notes anymore. Just listen to the original version...Love this version though.

If you factor out all his early recordings with the stratospheric high notes, he sounds like he did in the 60's! Awesome vocal tone.

hot2warm: that is an immutable truth that people just refuse to see/hear. he was a dynamic singer back in the day, but we all grow older and lose the riches of youth.

Agree. He rearranged his parts perfectly. Listening to this you would never think it would have been sung differently.

His voice didn´t change anything from the 70s....He´s for me in the top 5 best rock ´n roll singers of all time...unbelievable his voice!

Mr. Plant I worshipped you as a teenager but I adore you as an old man. And your recent work with Alison Krauss OMG fabulous.

Dude still sounds like he's 20 years old. Amazing voice.
