    I have kept my 25(OH)D level at 100+ ng/ml for the past 8 years and I am healthier than ever at 74 years old. When the coronavirus got going here in the US in early 2020, I thought that our medical leaders would immediately recommend that everyone take at least 5,000 iu of D3 a day and get the 25(OH)D blood test. It's been almost 2 years and 750,000+ lives lost now and still not a peep from the CDC, WHO, IOM, etc. So many lives lost and families ruined by their silence.

    I went to a doctor today for physical exam (didn't include blood work...some exam). I requested a blood test to measure my vitamin D level, because I've been taken large doses of D3 in conjunction with K2 and magnesium. His response: Oh, I see you did some reading? What can you tell me about vitamin D? -Well, doc, the biggest discovery, it's not a vitamin, but a hormone... Interrupts me laughing: IT IS A VITAMIN! What else are you concerned about. .. Never orders the test... My point is: US doctors are a product of their environment/education/conditioning. Your health is your own responsibility. ALWAYS!!

    Hi Jim it's great to hear of your amazing health. I would be pleased to know how you brought your blood serum levels up and what your maintenance dose is. At the start of Covid I started taking 2,000 IU's about 4 months ago I increased to 4,000 was recently tested at 31 ng/ml I was pleased believing I would have been quite deficient at the start . Research I have put myself to has convinced me I too would love to get my level to 100-125 hold it there for some 6 month or so and settle to maintain at about 70 ng/ml. I would love to hear more of your story and if/how you managed K2 and magnesium. I'm presently 66 years old, my main hope is that higher D levels will help improve the struggles I have with asthma / COPD and of course more "HEALTHY " years.

    @@gerilynn9002I took 50,000 iu of D3 daily for 2 or 3 weeks to raise my 25(OH)D level. I personally believe that the optimal D level is about 100+ ng/ml with proper supplementation of K2, magnesium, zinc, beta carotene, and real natural B complex, not 40 to 60 ng/ml. Because of my size and age I take more D3 than most people. Right now I am taking 30,000 iu of D3 (gelcaps not tablets) daily. Before I got my D level up I had the following health problems that quickly disappeared: chronic depression, chronic fatigue, brain fog, earaches, sinus infections, respiratory infections, colds, fever blisters, sore throats, boles on my backside, low back pain that required a chiropractor visit once a month or more, allergies, hair loss, pain requiring pain meds, and shortness of breath. I was a wreck. Now I have none of these problems and I am much stronger physically. I will get a 25(OH)D test in January and if my D level is above 130 ng/ml, I will cut back some on my daily dose. I also cut back on the D during the summer when I am working outside in the sun but I will continue taking the D co-factors. The majority of people are deficient in vitamin D, magnesium, and zinc. I think that this is why the corona virus has been so deadly. I still got the vaccine and booster and wear a mask inside in public. I hope this helps and wish you the best of luck.

Also that high dose D3 uses up magnesium and can create a deficiency so you also need to take magnesium. Zinc and boron need to be in the mix as well. Oh by the way vitamin D3 is actually a hormone. The medical industrial complex's failure to properly research and diagnose and treat diet and microbiome and sleep and vital nutritional deficiency issues (including those related to Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2 and Magnesium deficiencies as well as iatrogenic prescription medication usage) is a major reason why psychiatric iatrogenesis is a primary contributor to the third leading cause of death in the U.S. (which is iatrogenesis in general). If the U.S. spent just a fraction of the over $40 billion each year it spends just on iatrogenic psychiatric drugs alone, for properly researching the issues discussed in this and related KZread presentations we would probably, Lord willing, achieve an absolute revolution in medical efficacy improvement and iatrogenesis reduction. • @JM-dm3qk

    @JM-dm3qk

    I read a paper previously which stated that vitamin D shared a steroid receptor with thyroid hormone. So that if TSH was raised (hypothyroid) and vitamin D level increased TSH level fell and T4, T3 levels increased, (inverse correlation with TSH and positive with thyroid hormones). That is you become less hypothyroid. T4 (inactive) and T3 (active) govern basal metabolism that is the cumulative total of chemical reactions in the body at rest. Hypothyroidism symptom is weight gain, and hyperthyroidism weight loss. Vitamin D is fat soluble so more would be needed so more needed if a person is overweight or obese and therefore could be left suffering from undiagnosed or untreated / insufficiently treated hypothyroidism and vitamin D deficiency as they would have greater D requirement so worse outcome. USA has a problem with obesity and so vitamin D deficiency in this regard would impact them to a greater extent than South Africa for instance all other things being equal.

    D is fat soluble, so take with large meal. The main cofactors are Magesium, vitamin A, zinc, selenium, boron.

    Vitamin D will affect their bottom line. Sun is good . UVB rays help synthesize vitamin or hormone D which enhances immunity.

    Yes, great app. Here in Ireland our level of sunshine is minimal October til April... very difficult to manufacture vit D naturally during these months. Having read Dr. Holick's book, I will be purchasing the Sperti vit D lamp, as recommend. Expensive but a great investment in my opinion.

    This is pretty much the best vitamin d information I have ever seen. Wish i had heard about this 20 years ago when my doctor told me my immune system was just bad and I needed to live with it. Started supplementing last year and I hope at 43 years it is not too late to turn my health around to the better. 🌤️

    Never too late to regain health. Up to 80yo + can have dramatic improvements. May I also suggest to include Vitamin K2 & magnesium into your regime which helps to activate D activity where needed. . K2 is found in fermented foods and grass fed animal products. K2 / mg - D link is often missed out on in these talks.

    @@rickknight3823 well, that's because you get enough K2 and magnesium if you just eat healthy with enough vegetables etc. D3 is different, since you don't get it through the diet unless you are an Eskimo and eat only fish.

    @@ivartangring3392 the plant diet form of K is K1 which has different utility to K2 where it's far more active in its associations with D/D3. K2 is found in ruminant animals of which we are closely associated with. Their K2 is created from plant K1 by way of fermentation in the stomachs. Humans don't seem to have this adaption and so produce far less K2 from plant K1. Hence why we need "grass fed" animal food sources or supplements. Depleted soils due to over farming and land mismanagement with pesticides and herbicides/artificial fertilizers etc has largely destroyed soil ecology that supplied plants with a full spectrum of nutrients. Hence why we have an epidemic of low magnesium and other minerals and beneficial bacteria benefiting holistic human health. The highest source of K2 is from fermented soya beans called Nato - eaten in Japan. They have a very similar supplement from chick peas in America.
