He was the strongest... he was the Viking. A great athlete and a great person. Sad to see him go so early.

A great video, this competition back in 1986 was fantastic. Jón Páll was a fantastic person and is the strongest man of all time. He was the king of the stones, McGlashen stones

thankyou very much.... its great to see someone who sees strongmen as individually amazing competitors, even if Kaz was the best, americans need to stop taking that as americans being be best, it would be Kaz who was the best!, people win strongman, not counteries, but the fact remains that jon pall was the greatest strongman ever, and everyone who loves this sport for what it is should admit that.

I don't think Kaz would have agreed with those who claim he was diminished in strength when he returned to Strong Man. He openly and presumptuously boasted of still being the strongest man that ever lived even after being crushed by JPS in Pure Strength '87. Kaz was definitely still in his class, but obviously suffering a case of denial due to not previously competing with a strength athlete of the caliber of Jon Pall. It would have been great to see JP live on and win 6 or 7+ WSM competitions.

Notice how everyone who has said that Kaz was the better one is from the US, is it so hard to face FACTS yes FACTS since JPS Won four titles and Kaz 3...Kaz said himself...JPS is the greatest ever.

Jon pall lost by 1.5 points on his rookie year, 2nd place, so what? Kaz had his ass handed to him on his rookie year by 15.4 points, 3rd place. Capes beat JP in '85 again by 1.5 points, so what. JP still outclasses him by a mile. Watch him toy with capes in the barrel event. He runs the last one in even after capes gave up. Jon pall was incredible in '84'86,'87,'88,and '90. Kaz incredible in '80,'81, and '82. These guys are both heroes.

Yeah, it wasnt really fair, since Kaz prime era was a few years earlier, they were both great athletes.

No, Jón Páll won against Kazmaier in the ultimate challenge, the strongest man of all time, in 1987. In 1988 both Jón Páll and Kazmaier were competing in The World's Strongest Man and Jón Páll won his third title. Even Kazmaier admitted that the Strongest Man Of All Time in 1987 was the greatest competition ever. Geoff Capes said the same thing.

Why does it have to be a competition between them. And if you want to compare them then you'll find out that Jón Páll Sigmarsson has the upper hand. Jón Páll never lost against Kazmaier. In 1987 there was the greatest competition ever, Strongest Man Of All Time. Jón Páll won the competition by beating Kazmaier and Geoff Capes in 8 out of 10 events

you are getting pure strength 1987 mixed up with the ultimate challenge 1987. and also you are getting wsm 1988 mixed up with la defi mark ten 1988. Kaz beat Jon Pall in ultimate challenge 1987 and la defi mark ten in 1988. Even in pure strength 1988 Geoff Capes said that Kazmaier was the strongest man who ever lived the video of it is on you tube. Plus Capes beat Jon Pall in WSM twice, Capes never beat Kazmaier.
