'The View' Hosts REACT To Jason Aldean's ‘Try That In A Small Town' Controversy

Ойын-сауық

"The View" hosts are weighing in on Jason Aldean's controversial new song "Try That In A Small Town." On Thursday, Whoopi Goldberg, Sarah Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin discussed the backlash surrounding the polarizing track and its music video. "There's a lot wrong here with this," Whoopi said. While Sarah and Joy discussed the tune's lyrics related to small towns and big cities, Alyssa said she was giving the country star the benefit of the doubt. "I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt that his intent wasn't to stoke division, glorify violence or racism. I'm going to give him that benefit of the doubt…The imagery is what becomes problematic," she claimed. Sunny, however, didn’t agree. "I'm not going to give him the benefit of the doubt…My father is from Augusta and Macon and I spent many summers there. Yeah, both. It is one of the most racist places in this country. So don't tell me that he knew nothing about what that imagery meant. So, I don't give him the benefit," she explained. Jason took to Instagram to respond to the backlash earlier in the week, saying that the intention of the song was to refer to the feeling of community and people taking care of their neighbors. "In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. These references are not only meritless, but dangerous. There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it -- and there is not a single video clip that isn't real news footage -- and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music -- this one goes too far," he wrote.

@cynthiapowers3469 You're comparing apples to... I'm gonna' say DRAGONS! lol The Cardi B song was about highly sexuaIized content, and whether it's appropriate for her mostly teenage fans. This same issue has been debated time and again with many artists before her, and usually freedom of speech (1st amendment right) prevails. Whereas the song by AIdean is about using subtle d0g-whistIe tactics to express his disapproval of the BLM protests (some of which definitely did get out of hand--there is no doubt about that). And while the song hasn't been banned by any means, if CMT wants to not include it in their lineup, that is also their freedom of choice to do so!

There is nothing "Raceist" in this song. When he sings " Try that in a small town, see how far you make it down the road", he is trying to imply that if you come in and shot a bunch of people up, in the city 9 times out of 10 you will run of and not get caught for a while. In a small town people have the guts to stop the suspect and knock him on his rear end. In a small town, if there was a concert and somebody pulled a gun and was going to do a mass shooting, there would be people who would have their guns drawn on him so fast he wouldn't have the chance to shoot. So the bottom line, it has NOTHING to do with racism and color

I've been deeply analyzing the frenzy surrounding this song ever since CMT cancel culture made its stance, and now everything clicks into place. This is nothing short of a cunning and clever ruse, and I'm not talking about magic tricks here. The innuendo reminds me of how Ozzy Osbourne wasn't really a devil worshipper, but his record label capitalized on the controversy, raking in tons of money. It's like those first two Ozzy albums could have thrived on their own merits, but they wouldn't have sold as wildly without the hype. Clearly, this was a shrewd and low-cost marketing tactic aimed at quadrupling album sales. "Try That in A Small Town" stands tall as a song. Its power and message resonate universally with Americans, except for the misnomer that someone will confiscate the protagonist's gun inherited from his grandfather - that part seems politically exaggerated. Nevertheless, the rest of the lyrics embody true American spirit, transcending party lines. However, the decision to film the music video in front of the Maury County Courthouse in Columbia, Tennessee was far from coincidental; the implications are glaringly obvious yet craftily deniable. It's almost as if they were waiting for someone to bite, just like Ozzy biting the head off that bat to sell his act. In this case, someone at CMT cancel culture played right into the trap, leading to a skyrocket in sales. The record company couldn't have asked for a more perfect setup. The song itself is nearly flawless, and there's practically nothing wrong with the video. The message hits the mark, and sales couldn't have asked for a more opportune moment. All it took was a hint of plausible deniability in the innuendo, and that's where the buck stops. As for the idiots who have joined the cancel culture bandwagon, you fell for this hook, line, and sinker, and you need to shut up and stop making fools of yourselves. The artist behind this controversial video must be reveling in how easily the outrage was manipulated to their advantage. Instead of seeing the brilliance of this marketing strategy, you played right into their hands, giving them exactly what they wanted. This is a masterclass in exploiting sensationalism, and it's astounding how many fell for it without a second thought. So, to those quick to judge and condemn without understanding the bigger picture, perhaps it's time to reevaluate your actions and consider who the real winners are in this scenario.

Let me say that I have always been a huge fan of Whoopi Goldberg's... I have always thought of her as one of America's gems. I have watched her career since I was knee high from the movies The Color Purple, Jumping Jack Flash, Ghost, both Sister Acts, The Deep End of The Ocean, Girl Interupted, all the way up to her role in the 9/11 movie... BUT after the stunt that she and her co-hosts (Joy Behar and Sara Haines) of "The View" pulled last week on national television over this topic, I will NO longer attend, rent, watch or entertain any movies or shows that she has a major role in. What these three ladies put out there sickens me to my very core and has me losing faith in America even more. Not only did they go about saying what they did, but "The View's" executive producers allowed It to be aired AND I also feel the same way towards the entire network for not taking that episode down or for not at the very least having them apologize for what was said! I mean just take a look at social media ...hell anywhere on it, KZread, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TicTok, or anywhere else... the majority of people agree with and are saying exactly what I am saying! It's a small group of racist peices of shit that are making something out of nothing and you idiots catered to that BS! Whoopie Goldberg even went so far as to say that the people in those riots were doing what Jason Aldean's song suggested they should and were "sticking up for the people in their small town"!!! Like what the flying fuck is she talking about?!?! Those people literally drove across country to incite those riots....what the hell are you talking about?!?! They were protecting their small towns by doing what, starting a riot?!?! Then these ladies kept bringing "Black Lives Matter" into the conversation...NOT ONCE is Black Lives Matter mentioned nor "White" or "Black" ANYTHING mentioned In this damn song! Seriously what the fuck is wrong with people today!!! The entire show should be canceled for the pure stupidity of the crap they put out there... they are simply inciting more racism and fanning the flames of hatred by the shit they say! I'm done and will not put another penny into her pocket by catering to anything she is a part of PERIOD! .
