Tough love, but my suggestion is to live below your means. Most of our own stress, anxiety, and burdens is our own debt and over-extending our financial position. Many people struggle with this. It appears you are half- way doing this with the house now, but I'd suggest you do without the unnecessary things like the multiple cars, trucks, rv's, boats, toys, etc. Financial independence brings stability to your life, marriage, and family and it's really just a short-term sacrifice. Once you build up a cash pile, you can start to enjoy "things" again within moderation. You mentioned living a simpler life and you can easily do this. Sell your unnecessary things and cut those chains. Trust me, your mental state will improve, you'll get back to living life and not stressing.

James…this is life. We all have these struggles. I had another stroke in 2021. I wanted to go to medical school. You have to keep fighting no matter what. There’s no quitting. We are all soldiers in this world. You should talk to a counselor. It would be beneficial for you and your marriage. Take that masculinity macho shit out of your mind and do what’s best. Do it for your wife and children. You are the foundation.

New subscriber here. Thanks for your willingness to talk. I suck at that. I have an 8 year old concrete business that isn't growing, mostly due to lack of employees and everything related to finding employees. I'm in the process of trying to switch over to strictly skid steer work (one man show). We'll see how it goes. But, you did a great job motivating me and kicking me in the ass! Thank you!!

Bro I was where you are at in late June of this year. I felt the same way. Things kept snowballing down hill (bad customers, bad neighbors, growing pains, employee problems, way over worked ect). I don’t drink, smoke or do drugs but do however have a prayer life, wife and a home gym that helped immensely. Just know that us guys who are in the trenches have your back and love you and your videos. Keep on keeping on bro👊

Bro, that wife right there loves you and wants to hear you! No matter what, the sun will rise tomorrow and the sun will set in the evening. Even if you arr to the point of bankruptcy, as long as you don't pull that trigger, you will wake up the next morning and push on! It's not the end of the world! Now you've seen a valley, so let this be your "why". Let this drive you to never get here again! Never live above your means, plan for contingencies, have a fund for the "oh shit", and find some dudes that you can share your life with! Proud of you for making these videos and I'm happy to help you carry the burden (even though you obviously don't know me). Airing shit out lets the sunshine into the mold and kills it! That wife and your audience loves you dude!

Ive been in the same position, I have learned I do not buy anything unless I can COMFORTABLY pay cash for it. No lease, no finance, no terms. I know millionaires who still drive 5k vehicles and live in houses that are well below their means. If I buy a 10 year old truck that does the same work but ugly as hell so be it. Payments are horrible, especially mortgage payments with taxes and especially selling a home during a recession. Home is never an asset, only a liability even if you pay it off. 2024 will get much worse, so brace yourselves. I have learned to live way way below my means and have seen many people peak and hit rock bottom on the wealth scale, best to take a slow steady long term ride up and skip the dips. LIfe is good living below your means and limited stress even if you dont have the newest toys out there, it is a lifestyle change, many people are in your position now too..Best of luck.

I as in the same mindset 4 months ago when my 3rd kid was just days away from being born and I got laid off from a job I held for 10 yrs. The only thing that kept me from pulling the trigger was thinking I didn’t want to be apart of the 22 veterans a day that chose that way out. Had a Concrete biz up here in Modesto, CA. Got in over my head, took on loans for trucks, trailers, equipment. Then jobs started to go south, cash flow was not there anymore. I really thought being a biz owner was the dream, but realized it wasn’t in the books for me right now. Totally embarrassed but I just let it go. Taking these lessons and learning from them, and maybe in the future I can go back to starting a business. In the meantime, W2 job with side gigs. I definitely went through the same mental breakdowns during this time.

I think that all of us small business owners go through the exact sane thing. I wish we could find a decent way to come together to talk about the struggles of running our businesses. It's like we are all out here on our own trying to all figure it all out. Like many above have said hang in there. I don't know if it gets better. Still trying to figure it all out myself. In the video I believe your shirt says veteran owned. If you are a vet..... there are a lot of resources available to "us" that you can take advantage of to help you succeed. The SBA in particular is something you may want to look into. And do not be afraid to call the veteran crisis line. It has saved a lot of lives. Put that thing away that's next to your leg in the truck. You're making a bad decision way too easy to make by having it that close. Trust me on that one. And if you need a 53 year old former Infantryman to get you focused shoot me a message. I'll read you the riot act. Stay strong brother.

Been watching you guys for a while, it sure isn’t easy in business but I’m a firm believer that the universe will provide and things always work out when your committed. You’re a good dude and a hard worker man, you deserve it, hang in there. You’ve put your nuts on the line and you’re so close to reaping the rewards. I’ve not been in business for as long as you but like you I’m probably my own biggest critic, sometimes when it’s difficult you really need to sit down for 15mins & take stock of how much you’ve achieved in a relatively short amount of time to realise just how far you’ve come.

  • @duke902

Damn, I dont even really know you but your struggle has been coming across for a while in the videos. The thing that I can see about you, is that you care....you care so much that you probably care too much. Trying to provide and help others when you dont have to, trying to make something out of yourself and for your family, when most others just do the minimum to survive. You got this, you will always get what you want, just direct those thoughts towards good, and then allow yourself a reprieve from carring the wieght...

Hey Man! I hope things are better for you and your family lately? I don't pretend I understand all what you're going through in life, but as a guy in his 40's married to my one and only wife for 18 years, we had hit some bumps on the road a thousand times. I hear you and I tell you life can be fun and good but also comes with pains and sufferings and I know you know all these is just that sometimes we forget. With that said, life is still good and I trust that you have a good solid people around you who will not be complete and not be the same without you. You are a friend to many and a man of your own home/house. I believe you've heard this before but I heard from someone who went through what you're going through that a “Suicide does not end the pain, it just passes it to someone else.” I trust you are better and know better as you have come from afar to where you have started. It's ok to start fresh and by doing what really is the most important things to you (i.e. loving and being with your family with less $$$ in the bank but more time for your little ones and your lovely wife who gave you beautiful little ones.) I used to have a nice house on the suburb with sports car, harley, and few nice things and it was nice and fun at times but also have debts so when life turns ugly at the moment(which is part of life) i lost most of it. Having all those nice stuff I thought was the way to go and brings true happiness but I realized it wasn't. Having nice things and toys are nice to enjoy as long as it does not control you and your precious time with loved ones and will not keep you awake at night. My wife and I now live on the road for the past 6 years since we traded our 1600 square foot house to a 31 feet travel trailer and living as a full-time rv dwellers in the Nevada Desert and visiting other states occasionally during our vacation days from work. I'm living the most simple life I have ever done since I married my wife but also the most peaceful and satisfying at the same time owning few little things and doing things that I enjoy which is free for the most part. Our plan is to buy a land down the road and park our rig there and build the land one day at a time. I wish you well and your household and I trust you will have good days ahead and stronger than yesterday. Take care and I just wanted to say, I hear you and you're not alone on the journey in this world we live in. Cheers from the Nevada Desert! This good man help me before, he might help you for financial, personal decisions, and business. Look up Dave Ramsey(financial guru) Oh by the way, if you look up above and talk to Him, He will hear and it's okay to pour out your chest unto Him. His got it. I do it every now and then and I know He hears as I pour out my heart and thoughts. I felt good afterwards like talking to a really good friend who does not talk back, just listened well and give a good nod that he truly understand. Take care.

This was so hard to watch! I’m so sorry you were feeling this way. Just know you have a family behind you to help support you emotionally! Taking your life would be the easy way out and it would leave Mo and the boys shattered even more than you are. Life is full of ups and downs we all struggle through out life and it’s not about how many times you fall it’s about how many times you get back up. You are a great man, a great husband to Mo and a fantastic father to the boys! Never forget you’re strong, you’re loved, and you’re more than enough! Living a simpler life is a step in the right direction to taking away some of the stress. If it makes it easier make a list that will help alleviate some of the stress and just start checking things off that list and before you know it, this will all just be a memory in the past! Hang in there! Things will get better!

It doesnt work without you.. suicide is the most selfish thing you can do and is never the answer. I know you know this, but i want you to fucking hear it loud and clear. I am a former special operations guy, and far too many of my brothers have taken this route, and I see the devastation it leaves behind. I feel like I know your character and that is something you wouldn't ever want to do to your wife and children. You have grown your business pretty fast, and scaling a company is super difficult. I sold my first business in 2016, after growing it to 3 trucks and 8 employees.. I bought a smaller business that is just me once again, and after 2 years im bringing home more money than I was after payroll and expenses previously, even though my sales are 25% of my previous company. I love how you take care of your guys, but growing a company is not always the answer.. sometimes running a smaller EFFICIENT business is the more profitable route and can be way less stressful. My brother is a large contractor in NC, and they do big commercial work for military and companies like google and Amazon.. they often wait 6 months to get paid on those huge jobs.. so commercial isnt necessarily easy money either. It takes lots of cushion to bankroll jobs for 6 months waiting for payment. Just a thought. I have been here since the beginning, when it was just you and a tractor.. look how far youve come, and dont ever forget that you can go back to any point in your business and take a different turn. You can make a grand a day with the equipment you already have.. you have options. Ive been self employed since 2006 when I got out of the military, so I know the struggle. Ive also learned alot and would love to talk to you and maybe give you a few ideas to help you out. Send me your email and ill send you my phone number.. you can call if you want, or dont, but TALK through your problems with somebody. Life is good brother.. you are just looking at it wrong. Cheers and God bless you guys.

Yo, I started Solo and doing Everything! as a GC, 7 months later had my 2nd kid and decided being present was more important to me than making more money. Live below your means and appreciate that you've done more than most could in their lifetime. Grind if you must but no one will be you better than you. And your sons need you regardless of any material posessions or titles or achievements. You are writing your kids handbook for life. Make a shit ton of mistakes, be broke, be rich, be happy and sad....then tell them about all of those experiences so that they have an abundance of tools to live their own life.

I feel the same way sometimes too man I’m 20 started my business at 17 and haven’t grown much and I’m in 20k in debt it’s not much for others but for me it’s a lot and every time I reach a saving goal something goes wrong like last week I reached a goal and now one of my trucks transmission went out and it just keeps getting worse and I work part time for myself and full time for another company making 18 an hour and half of the money I make a week goes to fuel I definitely recommend talking to someone and I’m going to try and do the same

I watched a lot of your early videos and you seemed a lot happier running a smaller operation. Have you considered down-sizing and going back to the basics of 1-2 jobs at a time with a few employees and subbing some work when needed?

Sometimes getting too many things complicates life and muddles the brain and short circuits thought processes. Ease your load and do what you really need to make you happy and a lot more content. Enjoying life doesn’t mean acquiring more stuff, sometimes it means getting rid of a lot of stuff. Please don’t hate me for saying so: I’m old and found out too late to make these changes in time. Mo is so correct in that you need someone to talk to. I have been with you guys since your old life back east and have come to love you all and care deeply about this family. I am sending you so many hugs and good wishes from the bottom of my ❤️.

After attempting suicide twice in the same fashion as you’re talking about. Just know that your not alone in this journey there a lot of us there right along with you. My wife and kids are always pulled me back into reality. Fuck the rest of the world, but family is always paramount. I also am right there not going to talk to a VA shrink bs. A lot of spouse's couldn't do it. Stay away from booze, I have a couple family members that treated their tough times with booze and they lost a lot. Keep up the hard work, you'll get through this stronger and more successful than ever.

Hang in there. Hit my breaking point in 2023. Expanded just 1.5 months before C-19 and it led to a cascading effect. Long story short, I am in a line of work that is not what I do my best at. Took 4 years of crap to finally find an exit. 2024 is the year to make the exit happen. Change is tough when you are trying to replace income. I am on the same page, simplify life and work at things that I am better suited. Not fun to think you are having heart attacks in your 40's when really it is stress. Not worth it at all.

Bro, this is the first of your vids I could not watch to the end. This is not you. Period. Everybody goes through some shit. In 1 way or the other. I have gone through simmilar hits of life. Take the time to set shit straight in your mind write it down on paper if it helps and start getting rid of your issues. I know easier said then done, but you have no other option. Get to grinding bro!! That spiral your talking about? Stop that shit. Take controle of your mind bro. It's not your mind that controles you. It's you that controles your mind bro. Your soul makes you who you are. You have a soul of a man that works hard and wants the best for his family. Keep working on that. Keep your focus on that! I know this is not what you want to hear, but this is the reason your wife says she loves you. It's because she knows your soul bro. Her telling you she loves you should be enough for to get your shit together and start grinding bro. Look at it this way, we (yes me too) chose a life of independance and making our own money in our businesses, this is a major part of our jurney. Solving problems. If we wanted the luxury of having no problems or stress we woul have chosen a 9 to 5 job, working for somebody. Life just hit you hard bro, what are you going to do about it. Get up and do what you need to do, or stay down and get run over once more. Choose bro. I wish you and your fam all the best and remember. You got this.
