Some developers of the game actually lead the initiative to review bomb the game to send a message to Sony to not mess with the game they made to make people happy.

I don't really think about it often, but I owe a lot to my Mom for supporting my nerdy interests. I think I'm gonna tell her thank you today.

"Destroy all humanity it cannot be regenerated" is a legitimately good manga. The attention to detail about the decks both casual and competitive and the hype and flop cards during pre release is true to my memories. In addition to the portrayal of late 90s mtg, it also puts a great deal of care to the characters and development.

I think the anime was a big part of everyone's love for yugioh and it doesn't catch kids attention now because it's not on every Saturday and parents aren't probably showing it to kids

They only Ads I would accept in a game I play, is skins or some kind of cosmetic. Like, imagine losing to some guy in a fighting game that has a Pepsi Man skin or a having someone on your team in an FPS that has a Doritos bag cosmetic on their clothes.

For me my dad was the parent that got me into the card game. He bought the yugi and Pegasus decks and I used to play with him late nights at the hospital (he was on call at the hospital) when I got back into the game this memory is really what keeps me in and I’m looking forward to sharing the experience with my own son

That and Sony's security is as brittle as tissue paper

​@@deathgun5925 That's only the PSN. KuSony's internal servers were compromised as recently as 2023. A large portion of the 2023 hack were "shared files", ones that KuSony had local copies of but originated from other companies.

Great pod as always. Can't believe it's been an entire year already. Seems like yesterday I got back in to Yu-gi-oh and stumbled upon your then newly started podcast! Every week since has been a blessing. Regarding my favorite fandom I'll have to go with either Star Wars (EU ofc since there are so many great books) or Warhammer (strictly due to Luetins lore videos), but really there are sooo many to choose from it's difficult to say. I'm well versed in many fandoms, and damn proud of it, too! Hoping for another great year with the POT (or pod? What does it do??) of greed! Much love from Sweden

Like last time I'd say My favorite fandom changes from time to time but as of now it is Yu-gi-oh , due in part to y'all and new and old friends coming together in recent years getting me back into the fandom and such in such a positive way

I don't know why studios haven't realized that going to the movies is expensive, 2 tickets is like $30+ and on top of that the snacks/theater food is expensive. People are broke right now, and also don't want to put money in the hands of those studios, I mean they pay millions to their actors which is insane. I also probably would go see a movie that has amazing visual effects, like a godzilla movie where I need a spectacle. I am not gonna go to the movies to watch a movie that doesn't have that. Also I don't think that it helps when streaming services will have the movie on their platform within a few months. I would just wait. I just wait to see it.

Same family of 3, is like 60 bucks for tickets popcorn and a large coke.

I got lucky and had a hobby shop, mostly comic books and all tcgs next to our apartments. My mom was happy cause it kept us out the house and on the weekends we'd be there playing tournaments.

27:20 Pure Kuriboh is a pretty good deck in the Legacy Pack format (a format where you can only play cards from master duel's Legacy Pack) They can spam just so much. Kuriborn is insane

I believe they would think Pokémon would just be worth a lot anyway, the Magic guy would know he could sell whatever to a card shop for trade ins, and the yugioh guy would have to know their worth or know nothing and they see blue eyes and think it’s $700 for no reason.

At this point, I feel like the preconstructed decks are just as much for dropping 1-2 legacy support cards as they are for the more casual and/or nostalgic yugioh players who don't want to drop $100's of dollars on a deck when they probably don't even play the game that often.

"I think the new XYZ stuff is interesting" oh boy, let me tell ya, they already have an FTK with them. Also, the big concern about linking a PSN account, is that there are constant data breaches and the Steam players dont want their data compromised. In regards to Toys for Bob, its not Microsoft who's stalling any new games, it was Activision who forced ALL of their studios to work on Warzone 1, so there was no room to make a new game.

The homebrew decks! 😂💀 I felt called out

I think Helldivers 2 was also partially a case of the figurative straw breaking the camel's back. So many games require you to make accounts for services you'll never use outside of playing one or two games you've purchased on Steam anyway (Ubisoft was notorious for this) that I think people are just kind of over it. Helldivers 2 was unfortunately the game that was in the hot seat when this specific frustration boiled over and people decided they were tired of making new accounts.

The biggest problem is they allowed people in over 170 countries who if this happened wouldn't be able to play it to purchase the game. They knew before release the account linking was going to happen. And made the incredibly anti consumer and possibly illegal move anyway

My favorite fandom has to be fighting games in general. While every fandom has its toxic people in it if you ever go to a tournament everyone is super cool and nice.

Moms are everything to Yugioh...Ya boi was not ballin in late 90's early 00's you know going from elementary kid to preteen and all..Mom you'll never see this but thanks for randomly buying me that Yugi Starter Deck back in the day.

My favorite fandom has to be either Pokemon or Yugioh. I always jump between the two.

I have my friends to thank for getting me into Yugioh. My folks were the type to believe DnD was devil worship. So you can imagine their thought process to Yugioh. If it weren’t for my friends, I wouldn’t even be on the internet to this day either, as my folks were against high tech and internet for entertainment. Considering I never discovered things like Markiplier till I was in college. And I still had those phones with collapsible keyboard. My folks eventually saw the damage they did, seeing as I didn’t know anything about current tech or what was popular, like Yugioh, that they eventually caved and let the reigns loose.

My favorite fandom is Ultima Online because my brother and I grew up playing it and I have a lot of core memories from it as a kid and still play today.

Favorite fandom: Overlord, specifically the Light Novels. Accepting that the protagonists are genuinely "evil" and just rolling with it breaks so many annoying anime tropes that have ossified over the years.

I've been struggling to get my Nordic and Spirit deck to play competitively on EDOpro.. I love tagging but half the time my tag-partners quit immediately upon seeing what I play, it's kinda put me off it recently being unable to play my favourites so I'm taking a break.. Even my old noble knight deck with a little of it's new fire-knight support doesn't even run well with them locking into it's archetype after the ban of isolde, I've no choice but to fall off of the game.. An Englander without his lore icons, I suppose it had to happen eventually.. I can't be bothered with the backgroundless new stuff that's far from heart and home.

Probably wouldn't mind if a game ad show merch for an example if I'm playing a digimon game and show a ad for the latest series or digivice being sold

As fa as ads in games go I dont mind product placement like Monster in Death Stranding as long as it doesnt mess with re-releasing the game via licensing issues

Do music fandoms count? I'll admit I'm a big fan of the artist Laufey and that fandom seems pretty chill, in terms of other fandoms I'm not so sure, maybe Team APS fans lol

I never really consider myself a part of any "communities" or "fandom" because I just don't ever feel like I fit in, but my favorite is probably arcade culture and specifically Street Fighter 3 - Third Strike players.

Completely disagree on the world's mat theory. They did the same for Japan World's last year where they sold the Dark Magician and Blue-eyes playmats from the 2012 WCS. The turtle is just a reminder of the2013 WCS in the USA. I suspect they will give it out as a promo together with the Mat for OTSs.

For anyone looking for manga thats magic-like, wizards soul is a great read. Def enjoyed it a lot as another story where they play with the cards

Sangan might be related to Kuriboh; the Japanese name for Sangan is pronounced Kurittā, and interestingly, the manga card art for both Sangan and Kuriboh have both share the same pose and share the same background and may also be its grotesque counterpart as Yugi was seen using it against Yami.

My favorite fandom is baseball because playing in college shaped who I am today

With HiFi in particular there was too much hyperfocusing in the media on the fact that the studio was closed. But little to none on the fact that they were bought because they were already in dire straights. And how the studio had a mass exodus months ago. I would love to point a finger at the usual assumptions but they’re just not accurate enough for me to do that. Games development turned a corner on cost some years ago, that also wasn’t widely reported or shared. The math just doesn’t point at any one thing for me to commit to pointing at one thing.

Hifi rush is not a spiritual successor to the jet set seires, youre thinking of bomb rush.

I thought 2013 was the last time worlds was in the US, but it was here in 2016. Why not use that prize card?

Nintendo has mentioned they focus on Japan and they are a country on the go and that makes sense as other countries are kinda becoming like that too

Favorite fandom is a tricky question. I don't think the idea of "fandom" in itself has much substance to it. It implies community, but community means more than "a group of people with something in common." Your neighbor who helps you jump your car in the winter, that's community. That doesn't really answer the question though lol. Now that I've buried the lead, I'll say MLP fans are my favorite group of fans. Lots of memories there.

My parents wouldn’t let me have yugioh cards for so long

I'm so glad Alec mentioned the Magic manga! Swear to god, I was literally gonna mention it in last week's episode after Paul had talked about his experience playing Magic but just never had the time to. Yeah so for starters, I don't really know much about Magic, haven't really played the game but I started reading the manga super causally earlier last month and it's a good read! For those that aren't familiar with the story, it's just a middle school rom-com with Magic The Gathering as its main center focus. The art is fantastic whenever the characters play the game. I just wish I knew more about Magic as a whole because the author clearly knows what they're talking about. They talk about deck strats, meta, even the ban list or in this case, the set rotation. I highly recommend this to anyone that likes magic or even those like me who don't know a thing about it but like anime and a nice simple middle school romance story, theres PLENTY of that here, no worries. I'm still early in the story but theres even already a little love triangle going on. Upon further doing research, it seems that this is only gonna be a digital release so far which is a shame because as a physical manga collector, I would love to have it physically. Hopefully its come physically too someday.

It's a shame to hear Shinji Mikami's Studio Tango Gameworks is getting decimated like this after he left. When Hi-Fi Rush is such a wonderful game Microsoft could've backed into a console seller sequel, cus it's the only Xbox game people care about in the last couple of years. Apparently Limited Run Games is still gonna release a physical for its PS5 release, and I definitely have to preorder this after learning this sad news! LRG run an open order format these days, so don't feel it's pointless to get a copy like back then's early morning scalper raids. IMO there deserves to be as many copies out there for a wonderful game like Hi-Fi Rush. Just have to wait on the shadow drop which is an honest pain.

heroes never get support again, they already take 20 mins to end there board locking combo. harpies get merch because the Waifu factor is huge in yugioh, and toons deserve some good quality support.

My favorite fandom has to be yugioh followed by dragonball z. I still remember the first time watching yugioh.I was maybe 6 or 7 and my older cousin said he wanted to show me a show. He popped in a vhs tape and it was the first episode of yugioh and I was hooked from there.Never had many cards as a kid because my parents weren't too happy about spending money on stuff that.I hopped in and out of yugioh but I have really been back into since the release of master duel. I have built a pretty decent collection since then.

Make proxies of expensive cards and put them in some sort of display then see if they will get stolen lol

MTG manga is great! Very YGO inspired with the over-the-top action! As a fan of both franchises, it's a super fun read!

Playstation did state they wanted the the ability to "stop bad actors on OUR game no matter where they choose to play". In other words they wanted the ability to police players outside of their ecosystem. As even if you played 100% on steam the banning of your linked Sony acc would lose you access to the game

Sadley getting to the movie bit before goin to bed, but will finish pod tomorrow. Will say: Yes, people are burnt our on super hero stuff, but not in the way big hollywood esecs think. We have seen movies get major hype that aren't super hero related, ie barbie and oppenheimer. There can be hype for movies. I think the issue is, we were so spoiled on good stories from the super hero flicks, that other movies just pale in comparison, and when our super hero movies flop, then what's the point of goin out? We also gotta see about the cost of going to a movie. Where I am, tickets can go anywhere from 10-20 bucks, depending on the day and what the movie is (unless it's tues, I think it's just 5$). That's just tickets, not including either going out to eat prior or after movie, or even during. Going to the movies, I think use to be a family thing or date thing, then it exploded with hero movies to become an everything experience, now that that died, we're back to it being a family thing or date thing, but shit, going out weekly on family night movie night, or goin out for a date including a movie just, may not be worth

My parents just did the bare minimum lol got me a couple Pokémon games and some cards for ygo and ptcg but didn’t try learning how to play or look for events for me to play at. My mom did confiscate a stack of Pokémon cards from one of her students and gave them to me tho lmao they were rubber-banded

For me it was my dad had I not had a bad tournament experience id never of quite at 11-12 years old had a sick relinquished zombie burn deck and was un beata le what wasn't un beatable is a low only adult would do to younger play STALL yes one turn away from victory and the judge called time on me which was unfair cause home dude was taking 10+ min to end his turn i contested and judge said i should of called for a judge sooner and then my entire collection was stolen
